New in Fotobounce 3.9.6 (May 1, 2014)

  • Enhancements and fixes include the following items:
  • tags on photos now show first initial and last name; or entire first name if last name does not exist
  • when viewing a photo thumbnail or photo in the viewer, the info panel in the right now includes all details about album membership. this new feature allows you to select multiple photos and verify the albums that the selected photos exist in… and either add or delete to those albums from the right hand panel by clicking on the links
  • when you select image order to be by oldest or newest, the order of faces under the Faces tab did not match – that has been fixed up.
  • we now retry Facebook downloads up to 5 times if there are issues with Internet timeouts or errors.
  • album selection via the pop-up dialog has been modified so that you have to click on the arrow to expand a folder. this helps make the dialog more manageable in cases where you have tens or hundreds of albums.
  • buttons on the photo viewer have been adjusted to fit on smaller screens
  • we have taken away some checks during startup where we looked for old versions of the Fotobounce service running in the background… this has significantly sped up Fotobounce startup.

New in Fotobounce 3.9.5 (Mar 6, 2014)

  • All export options now include face tag info in Adobe XMP format. What this means is that any album, date or face tags you create in Fotobounce are exported along with the images. This data can be read by MS Photo Gallery and Google Picasa so you don’t have to redo your tagging work if you prefer the world’s best tagging product – Fotobounce!
  • There is a new “Export all” option that will export your photos into folders by Year. This can be used for backups and in the future to send photos to Fotobounce in the Cloud. We are modifying the Fotobounce Cloud scanning option to pick up this new tag data.
  • The Quick Find feature (accessed by pressing CTRL-F) now searches photo captions in addition to Dates, Albums and People. So if you are looking for something in thousands of photos you CAN find a needle in a haystack.

  • A fix to the Facebook login process made necessary by a change to the Facebook API. People with existing Facebook connections don’t have a problem, but people logging in for the first time will have an issue with V3.9.2 or earlier versions.
  • Don’t forget the new private sharing feature for your photos released in V3.9.2. Select an album, date range, set of photos for a person, or just a single photo and there is a new ‘Post’ option to send the photos to the Fotobounce Website. Upon successful upload you are presented with a link to your photos on our website. The photos are temporarily stored on our site for 30 days and you can use the link in a variety of ways including email, Skype chats, Facebook posts or anywhere else online. By using this feature you don’t have to worry about your photos living on forever on the Internet, but still allows you to share them with friends and family on a time sensitive basis.

New in Fotobounce 3.9.1 (Jun 22, 2013)

  • Updated Twitter connection to use latest Twitter API.
  • Modified Facebook permission request method to adhere to policies and added Facebook Likes option back in based on user demand.
  • Increased the caption font size against a white background for slide shows. This makes your captions much easier to read now while viewing in slide show format.
  • Updated all Adobe AIR components used by Fotobounce in our user interface. This has resulted in better performance.

New in Fotobounce 3.9.0 (Jun 7, 2013)

  • Enhanced drag and drop capability. On Windows you can drag photos or faces out of Fotobounce into the OS File Manager and in many cases directly into other applications. You can also drag photos from outside of Fotobounce directly into an album in the left-side navigation panel.
  • Google+ API is now supported. Makes it easy to download photos from Google+ Albums. You can upload photos into Google+ via drag & drop onto their web upload page.
  • Modifications to Facebook file transfers and authorizations to adhere to their platform policies.
  • Updated graphics modules to speed up performance. This update also resolves one issue with multi-threading on some newer machines. We have also made improvements to the custom album ordering feature.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.8 (Mar 15, 2013)

  • Duplicate photos can be displayed in many different views now – Albums, Photos by Date, and Photos by Person. New option under the Photos menu for ‘Showing Duplicates Only’. This handy tool allows you to easily find and eliminate duplicates. For example, if you want to review Recently Added Photos to see if you already have those photos in your library… click on ‘Recently Added’ in the left menu, then from the Photo menu at the top click ‘Show Duplicates Only’. Any thumbnails you see will be photos with dups. Simply click once on the photo thumbnail for any specific photo, and view the right hand pane for info including the folders where the multiple copies are found. You can then decide which copy you want to keep and make any changes (moves/deletes) directly in Windows Explorer.
  • Ability to merge the People list from another Fotobounce library. This new feature will help those with tens of thousands of photos. For example, you could create one library with 10,000 photos – just friends – then you can start another library with a different set of photos and import the People list from the first library. This saves you data entry time and all of the faces copied from the other library are now used with the new library for face recognition purposes.
  • Improved Facebook connection method that is more reliable and handles very large resolution photos efficiently. The efficiency comes from reducing the max resolution size BEFORE uploading to Facebook.
  • Face recognition suggestions are only displayed now under the ‘Suggestions’ heading. Previously they were also displayed at the top of the Unidentified Faces section. But this made things a little confusing and caused the screen to jump around a bit while tagging, so we have split things up under their respective headings.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.7 (Jan 22, 2013)

  • Ability to reorder photos in an album. Previously you were able to show photos in ascending or descending date order. And now you can create a custom order for presentation purposes and uploading to Facebook and other social networks. There is a new tab available when browsing photo albums called “Custom Order”. Click on that tab. Select one or more photos to move, right-click and select “Reorder”, then click on the photo you want to move the previously selected photos ahead of in the order. The new order is immediately reflected on the display and that is used for slide shows etc.
  • Function for exporting faces to an external file folder. You can now select a set of faces or a couple of people and export those faces to a folder where you can use those images for other purposes. Simply right click to get the menu option to Export Faces. For example, you could create a collage using the exported faces. While exporting you can also set the image size for the faces.
  • Increase in the number of faces included in the recognition task – from a max of 10,000 to 20,000 if available system memory is at least 2GB. Most newer systems have plenty of RAM so we have increased the number of unidentified faces we check for possible matches with your known people list. This will give you better recognition results and make the task of tagging your photos go twice as fast!
  • Ability to reset social network service settings. This feature from the Tools menu will allow you to wipe out all previous session information for your social networks.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.6 (Dec 27, 2012)

  • You can now toggle the display order for people screen in the Preferences settings. Options are to set order of popularity (most faces tagged) or alpha order. For alpha order the system uses “last name” + “first name” so that families are grouped together.
  • For all screens that display photos, you can now toggle the display order by either most recent first or oldest photos first. This can be set on the Preferences screen.
  • You can temporarily toggle the display order for photos via the Photos menu found at the top of the main Fotobounce window.
  • A fix to resolve an error on the Mac platform that caused an internal error message to show up when the system was scanning photos for faces.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.5 (Nov 7, 2012)

  • New display order for people screen based on popularity – now people with the most faces tagged, typically family and close friends, are displayed first.
  • Remote access via fotobounce.mobi now displays people in the new “popularity” order.
  • People thumbnails now show the photo count info just below the name.
  • Default startup screen is the people screen now.
  • All screens showing photo thumbnails are now in “most recent first” order.
  • Faster startup – 50% faster loading during initial startup.
  • New keyboard tab function when browsing unidentified faces – allows you to auto select the current cluster of faces, and when confirming faces the next cluster is auto-selected. This speeds up the tagging process.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.4 (Oct 17, 2012)

  • 40% faster thumbnail generation and loading.
  • Improvements in face detection and face recognition.
  • New private cloud web access to your Fotobounce library from any mobile browser – simply turn on Remote Access and go to the web page at: fotobounce.mobi

New in Fotobounce 3.7.3 (Sep 14, 2012)

  • Allow login to Flickr with non-Yahoo ID (Google, Facebook, etc.).
  • Expanded text entry field for Twitter messages (was too small).
  • Allow for deletion of incorrect email entry when registering Fotobounce, previously this was not possible.
  • Albums uploaded from Fotobounce to Facebook were in reverse order – this has been corrected.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.1 (Mar 8, 2012)

  • Highest resolution uploads and downloads from Facebook. Recently Facebook has increased the resolution of the photos stored on their site. Fotobounce now takes advantage of the higher resolution. Note, that Facebook still reduces the resolution if your image is too big and it strips the metadata (EXIF) information off your photos.
  • The resolution Fotobounce uses for displaying thumbnails for photos and for people/faces has been increased. You may notice a slight delay while the thumbnails are regenerated with this version, but the resulting thumbnails will be much crisper looking.

New in Fotobounce 3.7.0 (Jan 28, 2012)

  • Chinese language support is provided with Fotobounce v3.7.
  • Photos can then be shared securely with friends and family members in China and around the world.
  • In addition to its Chinese language support, Fotobounce v3.7 contains several enhancements to the tagging process that saves time, as well as many stability improvements.
