  • In this release we’ve updated the way GhostVolt secures your passwords to use the latest security recommendations for 2022.
  • Technically speaking, the way your passwords and encryption keys are strengthened have changed to counter brute-force password guessing and other known attacks. Since FIPS compliance is a requirement for some of our customers, we're using PBKDF2 with a minimum work factor of 100,000 and set with an internal hash function of HMAC-SHA-256.
  • Additionally, all users have their own unique salt to counter rainbow table attacks.
  • This update also includes a bunch of minor updates and bug fixes.

  • A potential security flaw has been identified where an attacker could theoretically login to GhostVolt without valid credentials (a user substitution attack). Critically, although unauthorised access is granted, the attacker does not have access to of your data, including files and notes.

  • Updated login window to include a link to view your password hint
