- General Improvements:
- Improved User Interface: More user friendly with less dialog boxes, less buttons. Better organization and easier access to Goverlan features and external tools.
- Text Customization: Most of the text displayed in the user interface on the client machine can be customized for company branding, or translated to another language.
- Added Support for Terminal Services and Citrix Users: With Goverlan v7, you can support the console user of a machine and users connected remotely to a Microsoft Terminal Services server or a Citrix XenServer.
- Minimal Firewall Configuration: The number of communication ports used by the Goverlan Agents has been reduced from 3 to 1 for easy and minimal firewall configuration. See: Modifying the Communication Port.
- Improved Version Updates for Agents: The process for updating Goverlan Agents has been redesigned to reduce the agents' update requirements and to provide better backward compatibility.
- Goverlan Workgroup Mode: Share Goverlan objects with your colleagues. Goverlan v7 allows you to share Custom Controls, Custom Actions, Scope Action Templates, Batch & Script Packages and Installation Packages. See: Sharing Objects within a Workgroup.
- Active Directory Container Filters: If your active directory containers include large numbers of objects but you only deal with a sub-set of them, you can now use a Container Filter to exclude un-needed objects. See: Filtering_a_Container.
- New Administration & Diagnostic Features:
- Windows Automatic Updates Manager: Manage your machines' Windows Automatic Updates remotely. See: Windows Automatic Updates.
- Device Manager: View and manage the hardware devices on your machines remotely. See: Device Manager.
- Revamped System Information Window: The new System Information Window displays an overview of the remote machine's OS & hardware information and provides easy access to many management features. See: System Information.
- Detailed Hardware Information: View a machine's detailed hardware information, including memory slots information, system slots information, connected devices and monitors information. Detailed_Hardware_Information.
- Run Batch & Script: Easily dispatch the execution of your local batch and scripts onto your machines and receive a consolidated report of console outputs. See: Batch and Script.
- Modify Network Settings Remotely: Goverlan v7 allows you to remotely change the network settings of your machines, including the IP settings. You can also rename your machines, join or un-join them to a domain or workgroup. See: Modifying_Network_Settings.
- Remote Command: Goverlan v7 includes a powerful Remote Command Console which allows you to quickly execute pre-configured commands. See: Remote Console.
- Improved Software Manager: Goverlan v7 supports the distribution of both MSI and EXE packages. You can also pre-configure installation packages and share them with your co-workers. See: Software Products.
- Improved Printer Management: Goverlan v7 allows you to manage per-machine printer connections in addition to standard per-user printer connections and local printer queues. See: Printers Information.
- Improved Task Manager:
- Added disk activity monitoring.
- Added Top 5 processes monitoring for CPU usage, memory consumption, disk IO and page faults.
- View process CPU, memory and disk activity history.
- Disable Startup Programs.
- See: Task Manager.
- Improved Send Popup Message: The Send Popup Message feature allows you to save message templates. See: Sending Messages.
- New Run Modes:
- Re-run the scope action and merge the output data. If some machines couldn't be queried and a scope action is re-run, Goverlan updates the output report with the latest data while keeping your historical data untouched.
- Re-run on failed nodes only. This mode allows you to re-execute the scope action only on the nodes which failed during the last execution.
- Improved Scope Definitions:
- Scope definition has been taken to a new level by allowing dynamic sets. The container's dynamic content is compiled at execution time and not during the scope definition.
- For machine scopes, the following dynamic sets are available:
- Active Directory Containers
- Active Directory Sites
- IP Range
- Object input file
- New Output Settings:
- Automatically convert the XML file to a report format of choice once execution is complete and open the report in the chosen format.
- Run an external program (this feature includes substitution variables which can be used in the command parameters).
- Close the Execution window.
- Other Improvements:
- Improved performance. It takes less time to open the properties of a scope action.
- Improved Actions & Conditions definition UI. The selection menu now displays individual icons for each object. The objects are now sorted.
- Improved Execution Log Analyzer.
- The list of available WMI Objects can now be configured directly from Goverlan.
- WMI Object Set and Execute methods now converts the raw WMI input parameters to friendly formats.
- Improved HTML - Data Sheet report format.
- Added 'Open with Microsoft Excel' output format
