New in HP System Software Manager 2.15 Rev A (Feb 25, 2015)

  • SSM: In SSM admin mode if a password is set with unsupported characters (for
  • example: CapsLock with Keypad characters), an error message is entered in the
  • log file.
  • SSM: Added a warning message to the log for failed attempts to change the
  • BIOS password when an incorrect password is provided.
  • SSM: Added the command parameter /USEINSTALLPATH:, to specify the path to
  • expand the SoftPaq for installation by SSM. After SSM installs the SoftPaq the
  • expanded files are not deleted, allowing end user to utilize the Add/Remove
  • Programs repair option, or to reinstall the SoftPaq deliverable.
  • SSM: When entering the Setup password in SSM admin mode, a warning popup is
  • displayed if Caps Lock is ON. With the Caps Lock turned ON, all the characters
  • in the password will have their SHIFT state SET including numeric keys. In F10,
  • users must either turn ON the Caps Lock or press the shift key when entering
  • the password.
  • SSM: Added optional entry DelayAfterInstall in [Install Execution] section of
  • the CVA file to introduce a delay in seconds after the install command
  • completes, allowing the install process to terminate properly. The maximum
  • delay is 10 seconds, therefore any value larger than 10 will delay for 10
  • seconds.

New in HP System Software Manager 2.14 Rev A (Mar 5, 2011)

  • ENHANCEMENTS\FIXES:
  • SSM.EXE: Fix bug when 'Force to update clients systems' option is checked in admin mode. When this setting is set, BIOS updates were failing if the machine had the same version as the BIOS update softpaq. Now, with the option set, BIOS updates are forced even if the machine has updated BIOS version as the softpaq.
  • SSM.EXE: Transfer the '/Force' command line parameter or the 'Force to update clients systems' admin option to HPQRun.exe utility used in some BIOS softpaqs. HPQRun will then have to pass this parameter along with password file parameter to the internal HPQFlash command.
  • SSM.EXE: Fix bug when setup password is set in Admin mode. Some combinations of characters in password were breaking the creation and parsing of the encrypted ssm.bin file by SSM.
  • SSM.EXE: For BIOS updates with multiple ROM images, allow passing of setup password to HPQFlash utility. When SSM finds the utility HPQRun.exe in SilentInstall command, it creates the encrypted password file to be used by HPQRun to pass to HPQFlash. HPQRun invokes HPQFlash with the correct ROM image file for the detected SystemID and password file if set.
  • SSM.EXE/BIOSConfigUtility.EXE: Warn users when a valid BIOS Setup password is not provided by using Current BIOS Setup Password switch in command line. Previously SSM/BCU would parse all password parameters including New BIOS Setup passwords to find the password set on the system.
  • SSM.EXE/BIOSConfigUtility.EXE: Warn users when more than one New BIOS Setup password parameter is provided in command line.
  • SSM.EXE: Fix bug when password includes keys from Number Pad. When setup password included keys from Number Pad, SSM would not transfer the password to the flash utility in the right format during BIOS flash on non_UEFI BIOS systems.
  • SSM.EXE: Fix bug when password is set in SSM admin mode which is not transferred to flash utility during BIOS flash on non_UEFI BIOS systems. This is part of a previous bug on UEFI BIOSs.
