New in Half-Life 2 Chaos 0.3.1 (Apr 20, 2024)
- General:
- Fixed save-persisting NPCs being invisible and still alive if a save was loaded shortly after their death.
- Slightly improved error reporting when a YouTube URL is invalid in OBS.
- Hopeful fix for some operating systems not being able to find the Half-Life 2 installation.
- Fixed text showing active effects sometimes flickering, and it now renders better.
- Fixed chaos bar flickering and being 1 pixel wide when chaos convar was 0.
- Fixed shuffle mode locking up the game when stream voting was on.
- Shuffle mode should experience less hitching when picking the next effect.
- Fixed minor issue where the first effect in the internal list of effects would be slightly too common and the last effect would be slightly too rare.
- Removed weight reduction for recently chosen effects - it was causing issues with shuffle mode and is more or less superseded by shuffle mode anyway.
- Game:
- Added acid antlions, cavern antlion guards, antlion grubs, advisors, fast zombie torsos, the autogun, hunters, Dr. Magnusson, and the jalopy to Half-Life 2 and Episode One Chaos, and added zombines to Half-Life 2 Chaos. The effects Spawn Random NPC, Spawn Random Vehicle, Spawn Mounted Gun, and Left 4 Dead have been updated so that they can spawn all of these things in all 3 mods. As of this update, the only effect with any sort of mod-based restriction is Play Random Song.
- Fixed Episode Two compass HUD element being positioned wrong.
- Fully unlocked fov_desired and increased maximum in slider to 105.
- Fixed issue where a melee attack from a combine soldier or any NPC with a crowbar would get interrupted by damage, which would just cause them to start trying to swing again and usually never successfully attack. The swing animation will no longer be interrupted.
- Fixed logos for Episode One and Two being HALF-LIFE'.
- Added SLAMs as a weapon that can be obtained through Give Random Weapon and Give All Weapons.
- Fixed spawning with no items on d2_prison_05 (last map of Nova Prospekt).
- Fixed spawning with no items and in the wrong place on d2_coast_08 (under bridge in Highway 17).
- Fixed Gman being below the deck in d1_canals_06.
- Fixed HL2 intro credits being too small to read.
- Fixed suppression device being unable to damage scripted targets.
- Added back /custom/ folder support, which is standard for Half-Life 2.
- Made "can't use" sound quieter so Grabby isn't so annoying.
- weapon_cubemap has been made to function as a regular weapon would in all aspects, including switching and dropping working more like how they should.
- Buffed NPC crowbar damage from 5 to 10.
- All advisors seen on monitors in Half-Life 2 and Episode One now use the newer advisor model.
- Made credits for Episode One and Two actually their credits instead of copies of Half-Life 2's.
- Made Episode Two Chaos logo be lower down in the main menu/pause menu, in line with the ones for Half-Life 2 and Episode One Chaos.
- Fixed Gman being unable to move in ep2_outland_10 (White Forest Inn).
- Fixed Gman appearing to be too tall (actually just floating a bit) in his Episode Two cutscene.
- It's not clear if these two Gman issues existed in previous releases.
- Effects:
- Spawn Random NPC: APC will now chase the player.
- Grenade Guns: Vehicles will no longer do the automatic aiming up to account for gravity, which only NPCs are meant to do.
- You Teleport?: Large flying NPCs now teleport.
- Give Random Weapon: Orbs (weapon_cubemap) can now be obtained.
- World of Fear: Citizens and Barney will use rarely-seen fearful animations.
- Grabby: Now spams as fast as possible.
- Spawn Random Vehicle: Vehicle size now matches player size.
- Left 4 Dead: Slightly improved effect's understanding of what places are visible for Left 4 Dead 2.
- Added Normal Vision and Give Everyone RPGs.
