What's new in Instagiffer 1.75

Jun 29, 2016
  • Fixed YouTube download issues.

New in Instagiffer 1.73 (Apr 14, 2016)

  • Fixes:
  • Line-spacing adjustment - modify the space between lines of text
  • Soft outline is now called officially called Shadow. Shadow parameter was tweaked a bit too. It looks pretty nice :)
  • In the instagiffer.conf
  • set default text margin (distance of text from image’s edge)
  • Set duration=0.0 to have insta default to max video duration on video load
  • Caption dialog now reports the dimensions in real-time as they’re adjusted
  • Scrollwheel, Control-scrollwheel and Shift-scrollwheel on caption dialog resize the capture width and/or height

New in Instagiffer 1.72 (Apr 12, 2016)

  • Way faster when opening the effects panel, previewing and generating cinemagraphs
  • Progress bar doesn’t just loop endlessly anymore - It actually shows progress percentage
  • When you hold down the next/previous frame buttons, the preview plays back at the actual speed (handy!)
  • Screen capture:
  • If you CTRL-CLICK the start button, you’ll get a 5 second count down
  • Small but worth noting: you can click-drag the blue area to move it
  • Vastly improved audio support:
  • Adjust volume
  • preview button on audio dialog
  • m4a supported
  • Audio plays in the Instagiffer player
  • Logo can now be moved vertically and horizontally by the number of pixels you specify
  • Improved softened outline. It’s more of a drop shadow now
  • Instagiffer.conf:
  • Default values for all caption parameters can be specified
  • Default YouTube quality adjustable (settings/downloadQuality)

New in Instagiffer 1.72 Pre-1 (Apr 11, 2016)

  • After spending a day making GIFs with Instagiffer, I became infuriated with the a) infinite progress bar, b) the amount of time it takes to show a preview when opening the fx panel or right-clicking the preview window, c) the inaccuracy of the playback rate when holding down the next frame button (forcing me to generate gif just to test the speed), and d) the lack of usability of the new audio feature.
  • An old boss of mine, whom I respect a great deal, used to refer to this as “Eating your own dog food”. When you really sit down and spend some time using your product, you start to notice these things. I am so sorry it took so long to deal with these issues!!
  • Anyways, 1.72 is feeling so so so much better with these little enhancements - I feel like the usability has increased two-fold. I’m going to continue testing through-out the day to make sure I track down all of the areas that require polishing.
  • Some other features include the ability to nudge the x,y position of your logo, the ability to set your favorite caption defaults in instagiffer.conf (font, size, outline etc)

New in Instagiffer 1.70 (Apr 8, 2016)

  • New features:
  • Webm and Mp4 support (File -> Change Save Location… and add .webm or .mp4 extension to activate)
  • Add sound to your “GIFs”
  • If you add sound, it will default from gif to mp4
  • When adding sounds, you can use a local file or you can specify a URL such as a Youtube link, and the mp3/mp4/aac will be downloaded
  • Specify the start time in mm:ss.000 format
  • Android users can upload .webm files to Vine. Make sure video is 480x480. Not sure about Iphone. Please help us test this.
  • Added opacity control to logo configuration dialog
  • Other goodies only available via instagiffer.conf include individual frame timing, more social media warnings, and leveraging transparency when cinemagraphing
  • Bug fixes:
  • Properly handle anamorphic (non-square pixel) videos. You may have noticed that some videos were horizontally squished. This has been corrected.

New in Instagiffer 1.69 (Apr 5, 2016)

  • Transitions:
  • Cross-fade different scenes to together seamlessly
  • You can even blend the end with the beginning to create an infinite loop as seen below (Just set the start position after the end position)
  • Import Dialog addition: Insert blank frames. Combined with the cross-fade feature, it allows you to do fade in/outs
  • If you type “random” into the location bar, you will be served a random video.

New in Instagiffer 1.64 (Mar 23, 2016)

  • We’re trying to make the effects a little more useful. Be honest, who actually used “Oil Paint”? Effects are now on a separate dialog and as you make changes, you are given a live preview. Each filter also has tweakable parameters which we will be expanding in the future. Please suggest any other cool filters you’d like to see (need screenshots!) along with a really cool name like “Canned Cheese”, or “Wet Newspaper” and we’ll add it!
