Isadora Changelog

What's new in Isadora 3.2.6

Dec 8, 2022
  • Downloadable Actor Plugin Updates:
  • UPDATE: Skeleton Decoder:
  • The Skeleton Decoder has a new ‘json out’ output to allow the skeleton data to be transmitted elsewhere as a single data stream. This bundle of data can be passed around inside your patch using Broadcaster/Listeners or Set/Get Global Value actors or sent between two computers using the OSC Transmit, OSC Multi Transmit, or Net Broadcaster actors.
  • You can download the updated version from the TroikaTronix Add-Ons Page as part of the OpenNI Tracker or Rokoko Studio Live Watcher actor plugin downloads.
  • NEW: Skeleton From JSON:
  • As a complement to the new JSON output in the Skeleton Decoder, this actor decodes the JSON representation of the skeleton and outputs it as a skeleton object that can be passed to any actor with a skeleton input.
  • You can download this new actor plugin from the TroikaTronix Add-Ons Page as part of the OpenNI Tracker or Rokoko Studio Live Watcher actor plugin downloads.
  • Actor Improvements:
  • UPDATE: Sound Player:
  • Fixed an issue where the Play, Stop, and Pause buttons incorrectly required a double-click in order to function.
  • Fixed an issue where the in-actor user interface could not be used to set the in and out points.
  • General Actor Improvements:
  • An update was made to all actors that have a user interface element in the center of the actor. This affects the Movie Player, Sound Player, Tone Generator, Curvature, Edge Blend Mask, and Global Edge Blend Mask actors.
  • An update was made to a number of actors whose mutable inputs needed to be limited so that they didn’t accept video and other data types like ‘blob' or ‘skeleton’. This affects the Javascript, OSC Multi Transmit, OSC Transmit, Pulse Values, Send Serial Data, TCP Send Data, Text Formatter, and Value to Text actors. (Actors that correctly can mutate to video data types, like Selector, Router, Broadcaster, and Table are unaffected.)
  • An update was implemented that forces the RTMP Streamer actor to release data that it shares between different instances of itself when Isadora is quit while this data is being used.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a crash when saving and updating many, many instances of the same User Actor in a single Scene.
  • Bugs You Helped Us Squash:
  • Fixed a crash caused by hotlinking, undoing, then performing certain actions.

New in Isadora 2.6.1 (Feb 7, 2018)

  • Fixed Bugs:
  • Isadora v2.6.1 no longer crashes if your internet connection is disabled.
  • Isadora v2.6.1 solves a bug related to automatically importing the Isadora Preferences from the previous version.
  • New Actors:
  • Get URL Text - Asynchronously retrieves the text from the specified URL.

New in Isadora 2.6.0 (Jan 16, 2018)

  • ArtNet Send and Receive actors (available via separate download)
  • Integrated Cue Numbering System that can be addressed via MIDI Show Control
  • New Control Panel modules that make it easy and efficient for operators to run a show
  • Much improved alpha channel support
  • New Data Array actor that supports text as well as numbers
  • Spout Integration on Windows (For MacOS users who don't know it, Spout is the equivalent to Syphon)
  • A new version of the Data Array actor that supports text, including UTF-8 text for full unicode support.
  • New and updated actors, including the new OSC Multi Listener actor that allows you to listen to many channels of OSC data with one actor.
  • The ability to tag Actors so that you can jump to a specific area of your patch immediately, which is further supported by the new Background actor which allows you to clearly define particular areas of your patch
  • The amazing Rutt-Etra actor by Vade (already released but now "official"; available via separate download)

New in Isadora 2.0.5 (Jun 17, 2015)

  • You can now feed a background image into the Text Draw actor
  • Further bugs in the 2.0 Actor Processing Model have been addressed
  • In some cases, Secondary Scenes activated via the Activate Scene actor, would render at half intensity. This has been fixed
  • Problems rendering Quartz Composer patches (.qtz) files that use the “Billboard” output should be solved. Please let us know if you find this is not the case
  • When using the new Grouped by Scene layering mode, Secondary Scenes now render in the same way they did in Isadora 1.x
  • A new input called ‘exec src’ has been added to the Selector, Router, and Gate actors. If you were using these actors to “block” upstream actors from executing, you will need to change this input from the default setting. For complete details, please read the new knowledge base article Making Your Patch More Efficient with the Gate, Selector and Router Actors
  • If you cut a Scene that had been resized, and then chose Undo, the Scene would come back at the default size. This has been fixed
  • Isadora will now display an informative error if you try to show the Stage on a display that does not support OpenGL 2.0. (This really only affects Windows XP users; more recent operating systems all have OpenGL 2.0)
  • When in demo mode, Isadora no longer marks the file as needing to be saved after resolving missing video. Thus, the “Save Changes” dialog will never be shown
  • Several potential crashes related to hiding and then showing the Stage in Scenes containing the new Video Mixer, Video Fader, and the video conversion actors (e.g., Video to Texture) have been fixed

New in Isadora 2.0.2 (Jun 17, 2015)

  • There’s now a new “Upgrade…” option under the “Register…” option in the file menu. No more looking for the registration file
  • A bug with the 2.0 Actor Processing Model that several users discovered. This should now work as expected. You can still enable the old Actor Processing Model, but this is not recommended for new projects. (Old files will automatically use the old method.) The option to select the Actor Processing Model has been moved to the file menu, where you can now choose “2.0″ or “1.x Compatible.”
  • A bug in the new layering algorithm was fixed to allow the possibility of true cinematic crossfades. Based on user response, both the old method and the new method are useful, so now you have a choice. In the file menu you will now find a “Layering” item, with two choices: either Grouped by Scene or Ungrouped (1.x Compatible). Like the Actor Processing Model, new projects will default to Grouped by Scene and 1.x projects will default to Ungrouped (1.x Compatible). If you choose Ungrouped (1.x Compatible) you will not be able to get the true cinematic crossfades when moving from one scene to the next. (I’m going to write a knowledge base article to make the difference between the two clear.)
  • Quartz Composer patches ran slowly in previous versions because of a bug. This has been fixed and you should find patches using Quartz Composer modules running at full speed again. However, there does seem to be an Apple bug that causes some plugins to fail on Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite only. (We cannot be more specific than to say that these QC plugins use the “Billboard” as the output.) We are investigating this, and will try to find a solution
  • A bug where images produced by the 3D Particles actor would disappear after a crossfade has been fixed
  • A bug where the Jump++ would “snap” to the next scene when the fade in and fade out times were not the same has been fixed

New in Isadora 1.3.0f25 (Sep 29, 2012)

  • Fixed a bug in the Windows installer that would prevent the USB registration file from being written on non-english operating systems.
  • Small images (e.g., 8×8 pixels) are no longer displayed with a fuzzy edge by the Projector actor.
  • When showing a full screen stage, the main editor window of Isadora is no longer deactivated.
  • The cursor is now properly hidden over a full screen Stage window, following the setting of the “Hide Cursor When Full Screen” option in the Stage tab of the Isadora Preferences.
  • A longstanding bug that prevented the Windows version of Isadora from successfully recording an audio-only a file when using the Capture to Disk actor has been fixed.
  • Fixed an obscure bug with the “Windows Native Playback” feature that would cause Isadora to crash when stopping playback of an AVI or WMV movie.
