Logbook Pro Changelog

What's new in Logbook Pro 1.16.3

Mar 12, 2013
  • Corrects an installer issue where the update would not properly replace existing files (after update same version would launch)
  • Fixes one issue in the AirlineApps.com summary report
  • Minor improvements to the user-interface (menus/toolbars)

New in Logbook Pro 1.16.2 (Mar 12, 2013)

  • New and completely redesigned, re-engineered data migration system
  • .NET Framework 4 is now installed if not already on the system
  • Windows Temp folder is used instead of Logbook Pro's Temp folder due to some reported issues with people redirecting their My Documents folder
  • Fixed an issue with the Lookback area for cloud synced apps (iOS & Android)
  • Spreadsheet log area now checks for columns sized to near zero width, resizes them back out and from this point forward disallows sizing down to near zero. Instead users should right-click in the spreadsheet and then click Configure Display and turn off unwanted columns
  • Other minor refinements...

New in Logbook Pro 1.16.1 (Mar 4, 2013)

  • Improves the data migration system which some users had a problem with in the update to 1.16.0.

New in Logbook Pro 1.16.0 (Mar 1, 2013)

  • One of the major additions to 1.16.0 is the AirlineApps.com Summary Report. For our current and future airline pilots that have or will have an airlineapps.com account, trying to get the numbers much less correct numbers can be a daunting task and without Logbook Pro, an impossible task! When you update Logbook Pro to 1.16.0 a data structure update will occur to support many new features but one of which is the extended Options/Aircraft configuration information. Most of the new columns are to support the AirlineApps.com Summary Report so be sure to go through your types and configure each one completely, as all should do anyways to get the most out of Logbook Pro's statistics and reporting. Run the report from Reports / Miscellaneous / AirlineApps.com Summary report and you will now save yourself countless hours and grief, you simply have to key in the numbers on the web site and you're done!
  • Logbook Pro now uses a new sign-in system so you no longer have to hunt down your cloud Account ID and Username. Simply login with your NC Software web site login (the same as www.nc-software.com) and you're instantly connected to your cloud account to use cloud sync, airline schedule importer, and cloud backup. On the top right of the menu area you will see a sign-in button you can click or go to Options / User Info or Cloud Sync / Settings as shown below to sign-in to your cloud account.
  • Options / Aircraft now has a new column (far right) titled "Active". When adding a new flight log entry there is no reason to have aircraft types in the drop down list that you flew many years ago and are no longer flying. Set the Active to unchecked for types you do not want listed for creating new flight log entries. This will not affect any other area of Logbook Pro such as statistics and reporting.
  • A new Cover Page is available in the reports menu like we use with our turn-key print jobs. You can now print your own cover pages as needed. In addition, when clicking the toolbar button on the combined tab in split-reports to insert a cover page and binder transitions you will get a prompt whether to use a blank or preformatted cover page, same as shown below. The report will use the name entered in Options / User Info in place of "NC Software" in the sample below.
  • Reports will now open in a zoom level of "Whole Page" to fill the screen as shown above.
  • Another new report "Aircraft Stats" is available under the Reports / Aircraft menu as shown below which shows your hours, flights, and last flown detail for each Aircraft you've flown.
  • With the new columns added to Options / Aircraft for the AirlineApps.com summary report we were also able to extend the filtering capability in the Analyzer. New filter fields (blue/top) such as shown below are available for you to turn on/off items to really drill down on data in Logbook Pro.
  • More revisions in outline form:
  • Added Cloud Sync / Test Connection button to test communications with the cloud sync system
  • All web links such as portals, and under the Online menu now open in your default browser instead of internal to Logbook Pro which uses a reduced functionality (aka limited) browser system
  • Clones can now sync with the cloud
  • Logbook Pro Palm and Pocket PC is no longer supported (APDL Palm / Pocket PC remains supported)
  • Typing two spaces at the end of the route cell such as RIC-DFW space space will automatically add a hyphen for you so you have RIC-DFW- and ready to enter the next fix. This is taken from the mobile iOS/Android apps by request.
  • All data areas now have duplicate sync protection when syncing from the cloud. Previously only flights supported this. Now you can sync Certificate/Ratings/History items entered on the device, edit them and they will not duplicate in Logbook Pro Desktop
  • Added "My Subscriptions" button on toolbar to instantly check the status of your subscriptions and include links to renew at any time (subscriptions are extended with each purchase, you can renew at any time)
  • Reorganized the menu/toolbars slightly
  • Changed menu/toolbar theme to "VS 2005" which can be changed to any desired in the View/Menu Style menu.
  • Improvements to reporting in NO DATA situations
  • Aligned date preset filters with summary bar date criteria
  • Fixed an issue where invalid date/time entries were entered in the OOOI field from apps when OOOI fields were not entered. Next cloud sync of data into Desktop will automatically fix prior entries.
  • Fixed an issue in the flight log reports where you could get a header and footer and no data rows in between.
  • Fixed an issue in the Logbook Explorer where the landings columns between day/night were showing crossed info
  • Other minor improvements too small to list

New in Logbook Pro 1.12.6 (Oct 5, 2012)

  • Fixes a bug in the Import Wizard when importing flight time with "real time" format (HH:MM)
  • Improved Import Wizard no longer requiring the user to click off of the last mapped column for it to register
  • Enhanced main toolbar exposing more commonly used buttons (logbook, analyzer, reports)
  • Removed "PDA Sync" button from toolbar, feature still available from PDA menu
  • Removed option to perform AutoFill during cloud sync, AutoFill is supported in all apps and should be done app side and not on sync
  • When opening the spreadsheet style log area if a filter bar was used last it is cleared and reset due to common confusion of not seeing data with filters active
  • Added new Date format in Options/Flight Log to match system short date format (bottom option in list)
  • Improved security with secured and encrypted cloud communications
  • Improved network compatibility with auto-detection of proxy and firewall configurations
  • Cloud Account ID and Username are now stored in the database to follow users through computer changes
  • Added additional intervals to LOOKBACK popup summary (bottom right of status bar) and lookback report (Reports/Miscellaneous/Lookback Summary) adding summary for Last 28, 30, 60, and 90 days
  • Added additional date preset on the date filter dialog for Last 28 Days
  • Improved layout save/restore routines for reliability
  • Added a checkbox in Options/Backup to bypass password prompt when creating backups
  • Changed button on backup password dialog from "Cancel" to "Skip Password"
  • Links to cloud portals (sync, backup, schedule importer) now open external (default) web browsers instead of limited internal web browser
  • Fixed an issue when printing graphs (charts) to print to the selected printer instead of always using the default printer in Windows
  • Fixed a data sort issue on some flight log reports adding extended sort for OUT and TAKEOFF for sequencing issues

  • Improved data grouping in Aircraft Configuration Summary report
  • Improved custom report template system
  • Fixed links pointing to new help desk system
  • Renamed "My Sync" to "Cloud Sync" for consistency
  • Updated product installer for Windows 8 support

New in Logbook Pro 1.12.0 (Dec 27, 2011)

  • NEW: Backup encryption - when creating backups Logbook Pro will prompt you to protect the backup (.BAK file) with a password. When restoring a password protected .BAK file you will be prompted for the password to proceed with restoring. This adds important security to your confidential logbook data preventing other Logbook Pro users on a shared computer from restoring and viewing your data. Passwords are optional, leave the password field blank to skip setting a password. Passwords are case sensitive. For more information click here to view the documentation on creating backups.
  • IMPROVED: When clicking ALL DATA on the bottom left of the date filter dialog the end date internally will now use a date significantly in the future so any future flights (schedule imported) will be included in the results.
  • IMPROVED: Overall user-interface touched up, menu's refined, images refreshed, currency area improved...
  • FIXED: Issue in the block time editor related to calculating duration from input values.

New in Logbook Pro 1.11.9 (Dec 27, 2011)

  • NEW: FAR 121 and FAR 135 reports now prompt for an date when running the report allowing pilots to look ahead at their limits or review prior limit data based on the specified date. The default is to generate the limitations based on today's date, however, with Logbook Pro for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Android having the option to sync pending flights, airline pilots can use this feature to review limits based on scheduled flying ahead.
  • Changed "My Sync" on the toolbar to "Cloud Sync"
  • Fixed an issue related to pending flights from apps when no Aircraft Ident was supplied. Aircraft Type is required for pending flights to sync into Logbook Pro PC edition. Be sure to check Settings/Schedule Importer if you use the iPhone/iPad/Android app and sync pending flights as set in Settings/Synchronization.
  • Warning period for currency and FAR 121/135 settings in Options/Currency were not being persisted
  • Fixed an issue on the Jeppesen style report (non split-report) when in single-page layout and using a signature image, the image would not align in the signature block properly
  • Fixed an issue with Jeppesen style custom template reports (non split-report) where Flight Simulator column heading would not appear.

New in Logbook Pro 1.11.7 (Jun 28, 2011)

  • Added cloud backup and restore features

New in Logbook Pro 1.11.0 (Nov 26, 2010)

  • Adds support for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad

New in Logbook Pro 1.10.54 (Aug 17, 2010)

  • Version 1.10.53 added a change to the database that allowed PDA Companions to sync with Professional Edition "clones". This change broke the sync with the Logbook Pro Palm Companion product therefore we had to undo this change. 1.10.54 is now just as it was with all prior versions to 1.10.53 where "clones" cannot be synced with PDA Companions, only Master files. This only affects Professional/Enterprise edition users that use "clones". If you don't know what they are don't worry, it doesn't affect you.
  • A new "Scheduled Sync" system is now available for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users. Scheduled sync is a system where Logbook Pro will sync every specified amount of time, the default is one hour. This allows you to leave Logbook Pro open or minimized on your computer while you go fly or travel. Sync your new flights via your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad and Logbook Pro PC edition back at your home or office will automatically sync with the My Sync portal at the specified interval and then update the My Sync portal. This now allows you to have your device updated with your newly added information without having to command a sync from Logbook Pro PC edition. Refer to the documentation for more details. The new settings are available in the My Sync / Account Settings area in Logbook Pro PC edition.
  • Logbook Pro will now check to see if your data file resides in an invalid working folder such as C:\Program Files\. If so you will be prompted to relocate the file either to the default location of /My Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1 or a custom folder such as C:\Logbook Pro Data. This will resolve Windows Vista or Windows 7 conflicts with User Account Control (UAC) and eliminate the 10% stall issue some have experienced when updating.
  • When syncing a PDA Companion to Logbook Pro PC edition the "Flight Cost" field will be calculated if the Aircraft Type in Options/Aircraft has a Cost/Hr specified. This includes Logbook Pro Palm Companion, Pocket PC Companion, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
  • A new "Lock" button appears just to the left of the close button (far right) on the sub-toolbar in the four data areas (Certificates, Ratings, History, Spreadsheet Flight Log). When clicked (checked/down) the data area will be locked and disallow edits thereby protecting your data from inadvertent changes. If you wish to make changes or add new information you must click the Lock button again so it is no longer checked.
  • Default left margin for reports is now one inch to accommodate printing for most Cirrus Elite binders. This will not affect any customized margin settings you may have already made.
  • Fixed an issue with the Airport Configuration Summary report for flights with simulator time only and no duration
  • My Sync's "enable autofill" now has a default of unchecked as the new apps starting with 1.0.5 when approved by Apple now support AutoFill on the device (apps should release any day)

New in Logbook Pro 1.10.53 (Jul 29, 2010)

  • A new database structure now allows Professional Edition "Clones" to sync with any of our Logbook Pro PDA Companion product (Palm/Pocket PC/iPhone/iPad). There is no longer a restriction where clones will not sync with PDA Companion products after 1.10.53 is installed.
  • If updating the My Sync portal from Logbook Pro PC edition fails a message prompt will notify you of the failure. Most likely the account credentials (Account ID / E-Mail) are incorrect.
  • Updating the My Sync portal without having configured any aircraft types in the Options/Aircraft area, i.e. brand new users, uploading will be aborted as aircraft types (at least one) is required for use of the iPhone/iPad apps
  • Default layout in the spreadsheet style log, LEGS column now falls to the right of the Route column
  • The title bar of the application will now show the path to the data file being used instead of just the filename. It appears users are not aware of the location of their data file so putting this information in the title bar will help make users aware of the location of their important data file
  • Options/History requires the Period to be specified. Previously it could be left blank.
  • Options/User Info has a new checkbox at the bottom "Provide feedback with sound". The default is CHECKED. When unchecked all sounds within the application will be bypassed.

New in Logbook Pro 1.10.52 (Jul 7, 2010)

  • Resolved issues related to Windows Vista/Windows 7 User Account Control and "UAC Virtualization" conflicts
  • After My Sync / Sync Now is clicked the last opened data area will re-open automatically
  • All reports (except 8710) now default to Landscape orientation instead of Portrait
  • Remarks column of flight logbook reports automatically remove line breaks
  • Fixed errant data in the Log Stats report improperly handling zero values. Log Stats reports are used by Logbook Pro PDA Companions (Palm/Windows Mobile/iPhone/iPod touch/iPad

  • Custom report template system had flaw in setting row height.
  • When restoring a backup (.BAK) file located in the default /My Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1/Backup folder, Logbook Pro would suggest restoring the data file (.LBK) into the same "Backup" folder as it uses the restore location as the default. Backups restored from the /Backup folder will now suggest placing the .LBK file into the working folder /My Documents/My Logbook Pro Files/v1
