Bing Ads Editor Changelog

What's new in Bing Ads Editor 10.1.1699.8192

Feb 11, 2014
  • Faster access to disapproved ads and keywords:
  • No one wants to deal with disapproved ads and keywords, but if it happens to you, we have made it a little easier to get at the problem. Now, you'll get a notification at the top of the page that you can click to filter down to your disapproved ads and keywords. If it's a disapproved ad, you can edit it (saving it will initiate a new editorial review). If it's a disapproved keyword, you can delete it and add a new one (keywords can't be edited). With both disapproved ads or keywords, you can select them and request an exception.
  • Landing page relevance now ad relevance:
  • Your quality score consists of three components: landing page user experience, keyword relevance and what was previously known as landing page relevance. However, this third component score considers not only landing page relevance, but ad copy as well. Therefore, to better reflect this, we have changed the name of this component to ad relevance. When looking at your quality score, and this component in particular, you should work to optimize both your ad copy and your landing page to reflect search queries that might trigger your ad.
  • Enhanced sync settings in Bing Ads Editor:
  • Many customers use the Bing Ads Editor desktop application to manage their campaigns without having to be online. Now, there are new options to sync your online Bing Ads accounts with Editor, allowing you to choose in bulk which campaigns and campaign items you want to download. With these more targeted sync options, you can save time and disk space by only downloading the campaigns you need to work on.

  • Call Details report now provides data in your campaign time zone:
  • Previously, the Call Details report recorded call start and call end times in Pacific Standard time. In order to make it easier for you to see when calls occurred, this report will now provide data in the campaign time zone instead.

  • Sign in with a Microsoft account:
  • For improved security, Bing Ads customers will need to use a Microsoft account for sign in. Starting October 21, 2013, new customers will be required to sign up with a Microsoft account. Existing Bing Ads customers will have until early 2014 to make the transition. To learn more, read We’re making a change: Sign in with a Microsoft account.

  • Dimensions tab:
  • The Dimensions tab provides one-click insight on performance. You can quickly identify high ROI sweet spots or low ROI performing areas. Within a few seconds, you can get quick, effective guidance on your targeting and optimization.
  • Performance comparison graph:
  • See a clear picture of how your campaigns are performing in one period compared to another. Easily identify performance trends over weekends or holidays. All this can be found on a customizable Account Performance Trend chart on the Campaigns page.
  • Importing the utm_source parameter:
  • If you import an AdWords campaign that uses the utm_source parameter and that parameter value is Google, Adwords, or any variant of those (such as googleshopping or AdwordsIndia), the value will be replaced by bing. This will prevent your imported campaigns from reporting incorrect source information.

Learn more in What are ad extensions?.
  • Welcome Australia and New Zealand! - We are fully ramped up in Australia and New Zealand, so you can set up your accounts in those countries and display your ads. For a list of countries Bing Ads is available in now and coming to soon, see Where is Bing Ads available, and where will my ads display?.
  • Improved report workflow - We've made some improvements to how you create reports that will help save you time and enhance your productivity.
  • You don't have to run a report to save the options you selected, such as date range or columns; they're saved as you select them. You can use them later even if you had to leave the Reports page before running the report.
  • When a report starts running, a Create similar button at the top of the page lets you begin creating a new report without waiting for the first one to finish running.
  • When you select a tab on the Campaigns page to work in, such as Ads or Keywords, it's applied to all the performance reports you create, saving you time and increasing your productivity. You don't have to return to the Campaigns page and select again.
  • Improvements to the change history report - We've updated the change history performance report so you'll have more actionable - and understandable - information.
  • A new Item ID column has been added to the report so you can differentiate between items such as ads that have the same name or title.
  • You can now see and analyze changes to Sitelink Extensions in change history reports by selecting the new Entity type (sitelink item, for example) and Entity name (such as Office hours) columns when you create the report. For more info on creating performance reports, see Create a performance report.
  • Search query report updates - The Keyword and Delivered match type columns are now selected by default when you run search query reports.
  • More options for your performance reports - In addition to keyword reports, the account, campaign, ad group, and ad performance reports now include the Top vs. other and Network columns. These give you more ways to see performance differences between mainline and sidebar ads, and which networks your ads are running on. See What is "ad position" for more details about ad position, and learn more about networks in What are the search network and the content network.
  • Longer date range for reports - Now you can run reports with date ranges longer than 366 days. No more running multiple reports - you can get all the data you need in just one report. For more info on running reports, see Create a performance report.

  • Enhanced import capabilities:
  • Now it’s even easier and faster for you to import campaign data to adCenter using the Desktop tool. This month, enhanced import functionality now allows you to:
  • Assign and save column headings to data sheets during import. Saved heading assignments can be reused for future imports of similar files.
  • Quickly identify file formats using auto-detect to cut down on time when importing files.
  • Target locally — conveniently:
  • You can now implement Radius Targeting through the convenient Desktop tool.
  • Target your ads to a 5–100-mile radius around a business address.
  • Set radius targets for business locations for a given campaign or ad group.
  • To use this feature, simply navigate to Targeting under the editor pane via either the Campaigns or Ad Groups tab. Select the “Near a business location” option, and then set the radius target to between 5–100 miles using the drop-down menu.
  • Business locations are inherited from adCenter. You can add new business locations via the adCenter web UI, and then sync your Desktop tool with the adCenter web UI to have the locations available in Desktop.

New in Bing Ads Editor 8.4 (May 3, 2012)

  • Easily view information on issues that affect your ad delivery status:
  • A new filter in the Delivery column on the Campaign tab allows you to easily view issues that affect your ad delivery status at the campaign, ad-group, and keyword levels.
  • Now you can easily view information on budget depletion, pending editorial reviews, negative keyword conflicts, or bids that result in non-first-page ad positions — allowing you to quickly identify issues and opportunities.
  • More easily manage negative keywords with negative keyword unionization:
  • Previously, if you established negative keywords at both the ad-group and campaign levels, adCenter would use only the ad-group level negative keywords to filter traffic.
  • Now, adCenter applies negative keywords from all levels throughout your account hierarchy to filter traffic. So if you established the keyword “black socks” at the ad-group level, and “gym socks” at the campaign level, adCenter would use both terms to filter traffic.
  • This change helps ensure that adCenter is delivering your ad in response to only the most relevant queries.
  • You should check your negative keywords at all levels of your campaign to ensure that they’re still filtering traffic as desired.
  • Get a better understanding of your impression share with Share of Voice data:
  • You can now access additional information that helps you better understand if and why you’re missing out on impressions so you can more easily prioritize optimization efforts.
  • View new columns of data in your account, campaign, and ad-group performance reports:
  • Impression Share lost due to Bid
  • Impression Share lost due to Keyword Relevance
  • Impression Share lost due to Landing Page Relevance
  • Updated columns of data in your performance reports give you deeper insights on campaign performance:
  • Rank data has been split into two new columns, Rank and Bid.
  • Relevance data has been replaced with two new columns, Keyword Relevance and Landing Page Relevance.
  • adCenter Desktop:
  • More easily manage negative keywords in bulk.
  • Enhanced bulk negative-keyword management functionality helps you:
  • Make edits to negative keywords with fewer steps.
  • Copy and paste negative keywords across campaigns and ad groups.
  • Use find-and-replace functionality to quickly update negative keyword lists.
  • The new Negative tab in the edit pane makes it easier to locate and manage negative keywords.
  • Use the Multiple changes functionality to more easily add and delete negative keywords in bulk from your campaigns and ad groups.
  • adCenter API:
  • View a comprehensive summary of changes to your campaign.
  • The Change History Report available in the adCenter web interface is now available to adCenter API users.
  • Get comprehensive insights into campaign changes to support your troubleshooting efforts.

New in Bing Ads Editor 8.3.2162.0 (May 3, 2012)

  • Access the full range of adCenter features through newly supported browsers:
  • We want to make accessing your adCenter account easier and more flexible.
  • Now can fully access your adCenter account through current versions of popular browsers — including Firefox, Chrome, and Safari — on both Mac and PC.
  • We made this update because it has been a top request from advertisers in online feature-suggestion forums.
  • Improve campaign performance by adding your business address and phone number to your search ad:
  • Now, you can elect to display Location Extensions — including your business address and phone number — on the third line of your text ad. It’s easy to enable this feature in your Advanced Settings on the Campaign tab.
  • If you have multiple business locations, the location closest to the search user will be shown in the ad.
  • Displaying your business location makes your ad more actionable, which may help increase leads from your ads.
  • Get detailed instructions on enabling Location Extensions on our Help page.
  • Save time on imports by uploading more business locations in bulk:
  • You can now upload up to 1,000 business locations at one time through the adCenter UI. Previously, only 50 locations could be uploaded at one time.
  • This feature improvement simplifies and streamlines importing multiple business locations.
  • Improve results for advertisers who use gender/age targeting:
  • To improve results for advertisers who target by gender and age, exclusive targeting by gender and age has been removed.
  • Due to limited availability of demographic data, traffic volume for these campaigns was low, limiting their performance.
  • If you have campaigns that used exclusively gender and age targeting, consider using the existing bid-boosting functionality to ensure you’re reaching your intended audience and achieving your desired results
