New in Mozy Sync 1.2.0 (Feb 22, 2016)

  • New and Changed Features
  • The following new or changed features have been added to this release:
  • Added Encryption Options
  • Mozy Sync now has the option to use a personal encryption key to encrypt synchronized files. You can choose to use a personal encryption key at the end of the Mozy Sync installation process. Just like the backup software, Mozy does not have access to your personal key, so you must remember or save it so you can decrypt your files. Mozy Sync walks you through saving your key to a separate file so you have it if you need to restore your files.Use of a corporate encryption key, which an administrator provides to users, is also available. The corporate encryption key works just like it does with the backup software. Administrators can put the c-key on the user's computer or on an accessible server. Administrators then use the Admin Console c-key URL setting to specify the location of the key.
  • Mozy Sync remembers your encryption key choice on the first installation, so if you install Mozy Sync on other computers, your encryption key type will match on each installation. If you use a personal encryption key, you must still provide your personal key during each installation of Mozy Sync.
  • If you already use sync and want to change your encryption key type, you have to uninstall and reinstall Mozy Sync. For more information, see Change Encryption Key Type and Reset Mozy File Synchronization.
  • New Command Line Options
  • You can now use the command line to set a personal key for encrypting synchronized files, either by typing the passphrase for your key or by importing a personal key file. You can use these commands if you have previously set up a personal key for either Mozy Sync or the backup software. The commands are the same as the ones used in the backup software for Windows, /customkeytext and /customkeyfile. For more information, see Commands for Mozy Sync.

New in Mozy Sync 1.1 (Feb 22, 2016)

  • Overview
  • Mozy Sync (previously known as Stash) is a file synchronization feature that keeps the files you work with most often up to date across each of the computers you regularly use. As soon as you place a file in your sync folder on your computer, it quickly and automatically becomes available on your linked computers, your online sync folder, and the Mozy mobile app.
  • When you install Mozy Sync on a computer and link it to your online sync folder, any files in your online sync folder become available on that computer, and any changes to those files are updated automatically across all your linked computers and devices. When you are away from your computer, you can access your online sync folder through your Mozy account online and the Mozy mobile app for Android and iOS. Web Access and the Mozy mobile app allow you to work with your synchronized files and sync them to your linked computers, making it easy to change, delete, and upload files no matter where you are.
  • If you use MozyHome, you can install Mozy Sync and start syncing your files immediately. If you use MozyPro or MozyEnterprise, you can use sync as soon as your account administrator enables it for you.
  • To start using sync, download and install the Mozy Sync software.
  • Note: If you are using an older version of the Mozy backup software, the local sync folder is not automatically excluded from being backed up, and you should manually deselect it for backup. For the backup software on Windows, this means versions before 2.24. For the backup software on Mac, this means versions before 2.12.
  • New Features
  • The following new or changed features have been added or changed from Stash 1.0 Beta:
  • Folder Name Changes
  • The Stash folder is now named "Mozy Sync" by default, but if you are currently using Stash, then your folder name will be "Stash" until you change it. For Mac users, if you rename the folder to anything other than "Stash" or "Mozy Sync," then the shortcut to the folder in Finder will disappear until you manually re-add it.
