New in NavScope 1.1 (Dec 30, 2010)

  • Added settings file:
  • The file named ‘settings’ appears in NavScope’s directory after the first start. Currently it keeps size and position of the main window. The file is binary and undocumented. The reasons are:
  • the format is likely to change often
  • parsing text file can slow down the program
  • manual editing often leads to errors
  • Any settings in the file will be accessed through GUI. Only parameters of single window are fixed in the file. When many instances run, the last closed is fixed. Deleting the file is equal to resetting to default, the new one will be created.
  • Added updater:
  • Main menu > Help > Check for updates. It takes 2-8 seconds. If there are, you will be prompted to run update. Updater program is downloaded. The rest of update is held by updater and doesn’t require intervention from user. When update finishes, the new version is launched.
  • Updating is portable. You can run it from your flash drive and all files in NavScope’s directory will be updated.
