NightAssistant Changelog

What's new in NightAssistant 1.2

Oct 6, 2014

New in NightAssistant 1.0 (Jul 16, 2013)

  • There is now a virtual micrometer built into the double star finder
  • chart for position angle and separation measurements.

New in NightAssistant 09.9 (Feb 12, 2013)

  • This fixes a bug that did not allow the window scaling routine to work, and caused the labels in the initial configuration page to overwrite each other.

New in NightAssistant 09.8 (Jan 26, 2013)

  • This one fixes a bug that prevented it from working on Windows. In a command line window, cd to the classes directory and run the runNightAssistant.bat file. Night Assistant should come up.
  • The necessity of clicking a button when you want to display a user made list of a
  • give object has gone away. Just hit return in the text window.
  • The code has been cleaned up a bit.

New in NightAssistant 09.62 (Jan 14, 2013)

  • In earlier versions, text that described a clicked on star did not refresh when covered by another window. This version fixes that annoyance. The zenith direction indicator for alt az mounts should work now.

New in NightAssistant 09.5 (Nov 5, 2012)

  • Night Assistant now has replaced UCAC3 with UCAC4. This is the definitive and final version of the HST Guide Star Catalog. It's pretty much complete to 16m.
  • For Variable star observations, the obsolete SAO catalog has been replaced with the UCAC4, as this incorporates the most recent AAVSO visual magnitudes.

New in NightAssistant 09.3 (Sep 24, 2012)

  • Added customized observing lists and fixes a few bugs,
  • The documentation has been edited and expanded.

New in NightAssistant 09.0 Beta (Apr 17, 2012)

  • Additional info: Night assistant now can show stars down to 16mv.
  • A Zenith line, indicating the direction of zenith is now available.
  • You need to download the naData.zip database separately from the program. Further
  • direction are on the SourceForge site.

New in NightAssistant 08.7 Beta (Jan 3, 2012)

  • This version corrects a zero hour error that caused no stars to display for stars at ~0h 10m RA.
  • The orbits of ~770 doubles are also calculated and their current positions shown.

New in NightAssistant 08.5 Beta (Dec 19, 2011)

  • This latest version adds the exact configurations of around 770 double stars, based on the USNO's 6th orbit catalog.
