What's new in Notesbrowser Portable 2.4.0

- Many dialogs and icons have now been adjusted to look and operate well under high screen resolutions
- This has also led to changes in the skins: the graphics for the up/down arrows and the tabs have been replaced and are now bigger
- The scrollbar below the fields was removed
- Skins that we consider outdated and no longer modern have been removed
- There is a note in the reminder that the reminder will be disabled with the next version
- Notesbrowser Freeware: For new users the freeware version is no longer available. Users of a previous freeware version can still use the freeware version after this update.
- Plugin DoNext has been removed (will not be developed further)
- Notesbrowser Editor: In the browser history window there are now also the menu items 'New' and 'Open'
- MP3 Timer: Open MP3 dialog was renewed and remembers the last path
- Bug fixed: The page table bar could not be dragged larger at high DPI settings

New in Notesbrowser Portable 2.2.0 (Aug 9, 2022)
- New feature: It is now possible to adjust the height of the pages/tab area with the mouse

- Bug removed: Keys CTRL + Plus/Minus did not work correctly for changing font size

New in Notesbrowser Portable 2.1.0 (May 19, 2021)
- All dialogs have been revised and adapted for larger resolutions
- The settings have been completely reworked
- Some menus have been merged or simplified
- New setup! The provider of our previous, technically outdated setup is no longer available, so we switched to a new provider. Among other things, it has the advantage that 32bit and 64bit versions are now installed in the correct standard program folder of Windows. If necessary, this must be taken into account when updating (described here)!
- Simplification: The language folder ("Language") is no longer part of the release. Please add translations via our translation page. If you have this folder in your Notesbrowser path, you can delete it.
- The start dialog (at first start) can be canceled (with the "close" icon or the ESC key)
- More small improvements and bug fixes

New in Notesbrowser Portable 2.0.1 (Jul 21, 2020)
- There are no new features or bug fixes, but the software has been rebuilt with an up-to-date development environment. If you did not have any problems with the previous version, you do not need to update!
New in Notesbrowser Portable 2.0 (May 29, 2018)

- Notesbrowser 2 was internally much reworked to be able to save database and configuration files wherever you like.
- You can use it on a flash drive with the portable mode (for flash drives) or the default stationary mode on a computer or laptop.
- Notesbrowser 2 removes the restriction of the previous versions that the database has always to be located where the executable is and this removes a lot of problems.
- Other new features:
- the feature category design was removed. This was seldom used because page design is much more usefull.

New in Notesbrowser Portable 2.0 Beta (Aug 2, 2017)

New in Notesbrowser Portable 1.9.6 (Apr 20, 2016)
- The Notesbrowser window can be resized and 'bahaves' like each other Windows program
- Notesbrowser window can be resized
- The fontsize of the text fields will not change if you resize the window anymore - the zoom feature of the text field is used instead
- If you choose a different font or fontsize in the configurations this will have no direct effect on text fields where already text is in. It will only affect new fields and empty fields. If you want to change a text field with text in it to the new configuration, press CTR+A (for select all) and CTR+N (to 'normalize' the text)
- The new more flexible resizing feature does also need a change of some Notesbrowser skin elements. The skin changes mean that if you use a skin where the 'maximize' icon is missing, please download the updated skin again.
- Changes:
- New icon for maximize window: Maximize.jpg
- Previous zoom graphics removed, Logo.jpg removed
- New comfort feature if you insert a page you have copied: if the active page is empty it will be replaced by the pasted page
- Notesbrowser will need to restart itself only in two remaining cases: After restore of the database from backup and configuration change of show in System Tray of Taskbar. This also resolves the restart problem that could happen on Windows 10®
- Bugs Fixed:
- Some users reported us that if files, even unimportant files, have been damaged, Notesbrowser will not start, even if the file does only contain settings (e.g. Calendar.xml or ReminderData.xml). The reason is that Notesbrowser will not start if a file is loaded incomplete to prevent data loss. Now, if a incomplete file is detected, Notesbrowser will offer to repair it and can open the folder where the damaged file is located in
- Import problem from very old databases fixed
- Save bug in the freeform mode removed
- Hotkey F12 removed from the settings because the Windows® Debugger always will reserve this key anyway
- Better dialog placement on multi monitor systems
- On some resolutions there were two small icons visible in the main window that didn't belong there
- Reminder:
- New/Edit date dialog: For some fonts there were problems with comboboxesthat were always selected
- Bug removed that by a double click on a column a hidden column could pop up unwanted again
- Optical grid lines are now correctly drawed (if option is selected) and fields are always filled out completely
- Windows XP runtime exception removed that could appear on exit of Notesbrowser (only if XP themes were active)

- access problems to Notesbrowser files could leave a temporary file in the directory, without showing an error message what happened, this is corrected
- a font problem is fixed where starting on the second page and starting from the second field the font selection was completely ignored
- the message at the first Notesbrowser start "Attention: Notesbrowser found another database" does not appear anymore, only if it really has found a second database
- some wrong behavior was corrected that could happen if there are problems while saving to a file
- a bug is fixed where it was not possible to click on the Notesbrowser logo on low screen resolutions
- the logo that is displayed if Notesbrowser is not registered cannot overlap the saving button anymore
- a very rare error that prevented minimizing a field after it was maximized is fixed

- Features:

- the search stops now if the search text is contained in the category name or in the page name

- the category buttons have been exchanged to new improved buttons that support transparency (we improved the skins accordingly)
- if you open Notesbrowser and there is a appointment that is repeated more than once, there will be only one popup window telling you how often it will be repeated, not one popup window for every repetition
- backup and restore now make checksum checks after copying files - before only the existence of the file was checked. This prevents weired errors where only parts of files are copied
- Changes:
- F5 (in the Freeform Mode) will turn off the Freeform mode and accept the changes (works like the enter key)
- Bugs fixed:
- copy text formattings will now also copy the font correctly
- incompletely loading of categories will be prevented: A customer reported a bug (which we could not reproduce) that a category was loaded incompletely and then saved with loss of data. While we could not reproduce this bug, we changed the loading so that Notesbrowser will exit with an error message without saving if an category could not be loaded fully.
- all temporary files will be created with a temporary, unique filename to prevent bugs if multiple instances of Notesbrowser run and use the same database (this improves the printing, playlists and moving categories)
- moving categories is basically switching the files. This file operation will now be verifies with a checksum test.
- bug removed: moving categories in the network mode could, in rare circumstances but reproducible, lead to a category not be consistent with the category name. We finally improved the category lock concept so that this can no longer happen
- bug removed: long page names could lead to an error (index out of bounds) and to wrong positioning of the page rename box
- if you rename a page and press the little scroll arrow, the rename box will be closed
- bug removed: the "Cancel" button did not work correctly in two dialogs (page design and category design)
- in a few dialogs the key commands 'enter' and 'ESC' did not work at all
- bug removed: A bug prevented the proper use of the activated numeric keypad for special characters, for example ALT + 0187 will now result in '»'
- the word wrap settings did not always work correctly at startup
- bug removed: if you tried to insert a category from the clipboard but declined the question to overwrite the existing category, there could open an error message that the column is already locked
- bug removed: if you set Win7 to sleep mode (to save energy) it was possible that after wake up, Notesbrowser did not show dates. Bug removed (Thanks go to Wux)
- if you double click an internal links e.g. (2/4) it will be colored red. This happened also if the link is already red, causing Notesbrowser to see this as a change and save unnecessarily (Thanks go to Bernd)
- if the printer is reporting an error there is now a more meaningful error message coming from Notesbrowser
- bug removed: starting Notesbrowser in the "Always Stay on Top" modus could make the font color select button not opening
- bug removed: with word wrap turned on in the text fields a wrapped link to a music file was not added correctly to a playlist
