  • We made change in the way how PayWindow overrides Windows construction to prevent "Class not found" error. Made fix for "Exit" window as it was affected by this. Fix for Transaction Window State "edit box". It was just an info display and we removed the pick button from it as we found that some users thought they had to pick a state. When there is a database disconnect, it will close all database controls in PayWindow.

  • Customer may experience random crashing when closing Employee window. It doesn't happen all the time and we added more code for situation where asynchronous updating of both Employee main window and Employee edit window may cause a crash.

  • There was a problem with some computers with an old version of the Microsoft Data Access tools that could not handle the fast refresh of the data grids which caused an exception error. We changed the refresh code to a slower method which took care of the problem.

  • Some recent Windows update caused a problem where our Download Assistant tool called by the Program Updater was not completely shutting down. It was closed where you could not see it but was still running as a process. That blocked the setup program from replacing the file giving the user an error message telling them a file could not be replaced. The choices were Abort, Retry and Ignore.
  • Since the tool uses older Windows technology we changed PayWindow to call that tool from our website and not on the local computer removing that problem during installing updates.

  • Fixed the Salary display on the 80 Column report to display a salary over 6 digits. If the Salary was 500000.00 it would truncate the first digit in the display on the report making it 000000.00.
  • The trap to not allow a zero check to be created was lost from previous versions which would cause problems. This was fixed to again block any saving of a zero pay check.
  • The city pick list when adding employees was never sorted, we now sort that list to make picking a city easier when entering new employees.
  • The Accruals manual entry Dialog was made more keyboard friendly as one hot key was used twice and there as no way to pop up the list of employees to select from using the keyboard. We also added a new "Save and New" button for those that manually enter a number of accruals entries by hand.

So now simply hold down the Alt key and tap the S key to Close and Save.

  • We've had a number of users upgrade but typed in the letter o in place of Zeros in the Registration Code. We added code to force the letter o to be a zero now to stop that support problem. Now if a user types in 'o', 'i' or 's' in the registration number it is replaced with 0, 1 and 2. Of course the absolute way is to follow the instructions that come with the code to use the link to automatically insert it correctly and not type it in.
  • We also had one use that her "next check number" was not being saved. We tested her database and it was caused by a malformed date stored in the database. We added code so it would not choke under that circumstance and stored the number as expected. This was caused by a weird check issue where due to Y2k, people who enter 00 (single-digit) dates on older Windows XP is translated to 1812. This has been fixed internally with '12' dates prefix with 2012. This is very strange bug because Windows normally prefix's Year 2000 dates with either 19xx or 20xx but not 18xx.
  • Internally removed the Resource out of memory bug. What happens is that in low memory, certain graphics may not appear, but the program will still work.

With users upgrading, they are finding that the files are write protected and they cannot access their data. The default folder is the "PayWindow Data Files" sub-folder in the "My Documents" folder. Since this has become a major support issue, we have added checks to block access to databases in the Program Files folder now.
  • Fix for rare crash on clicking Cancel in Backup Reminder.

  • When importing non-valid Time Clock files, instead of the bug report popping up, an error message will pop up: "Please make sure Import file is valid. If this persists, please contact tech support."
  • One user sent in a bug report that showed us "Operation resulted in non-update query". This error is fixed.
