Layer list, search for virtual copies, macOS: Using the function resulted in a crash.
Auto Mask: "Read linked" switch was set incorrectly at program start.
Layer tool, multiple selection with layers protected against moving, moving: Handles were not always deleted/drawn correctly.
Layer tool, tool settings "Align to content": With text layers, text exceeding the bounds was ignored.
Filter brush, "All layers": If the active layer had no alpha, but the layers above it did, there could be a crash.
Browse, location marker in preview: EXIF data no longer needs to be present.
Browse, GPS Data: After setting the GPS data, the browse panel is updated.

Image tools:
Many image tools (such as the Water tool or the Filter Brush) can now work on a new layer. This leaves the original layer unchanged.
Many image tools now have presets.

Invisible OCR text is now imported.
Layers without function are now better removed.
Transparency masks are now supported.
JPEG2000 images can now be loaded with incomplete properties and with color profile.

Menu functions/filters:
Adjustment layers: The "normal" functions like "Tool > Curves" now create adjustment layers for all layer types except image.
Tool > Color > Select Colors: You can now optionally invert the result.
Tool > Curves: Double-clicking a color pipette sets the target color.
"Edit > Find" and "Edit > Find/Replace": You can now enter return/tab/... and search for them.
Change Layer Size, Change Document Size: Both functions now have presets.
Optimize HDR:
Optionally, the brightness of dark parts of the image remains unchanged.
A histogram is also displayed for 8- and 16-bit images.
User interface:
Font list: Preselection with the mouse triggers a preview in the document.
Font list: If the font list is not opened by clicking on the arrow, but with the right mouse button, no entry of the last used fonts is selected.
Brush and color fields: If multiple layers or a file with multiple layers are dragged onto the field, all layers will now be used.
Gradient editor, inside document or in the Tool Settings: The context menu of the color fields now also contains the color editor.
Text completion in dialogs (e.g. "Layout > Dokument Information"): If the completion list was opened with the arrow down key, entries can be deleted with Delete/Backspace.
Context Help, macOS: The context help (in the menu under "Help > Context help") can now also be used for menu commands.
File dialog, Windows: If possible, the Window 10 file dialog is used.
File dialog, macOS: The open dialog will show the correct title.
Undo overlay: The display of the executed undo/redo step over the document window can be turned off (in the settings under "Working > Undo").
Dark user interface, macOS 10.14 and higher: If the dark mode is activated in PhotoLine, the native macOS dark mode is also activated.
Settings "Display > Document": The border colors can now be partially transparent.
Lists: For texts, a tooltip is now only displayed if the text is not completely visible.
Brush list, files: Brush files can be dragged onto the brush list. Before only layers/documents worked. Brush files had to be dragged onto PhotoLine itself.
Sliders:
Snap better to even values.
With Ctrl (Windows) or Command (macOS) they have ten times the step size.
Scripting:
Windows: Better Powershell support.
Vector: Clipping mode is supported.
New documents can be created directly from the clipboard.
Miscellaneous:
Circular and radial gradient are displayed faster.
Vector output is faster in some areas.
Brush outline inside documents: For brushes based on images, the outline is now optimized with a variable tolerance, and small outline speckles are deleted.
BUG FIXES:
Filter > Digital Camera > Color Shift: The layer's ICC profile is used for conversion.
Layout > Text > Text on Path: Calling again after aborting the first time showed an empty path.
Tool > Color > Color to Transparency: Picking a color from the document did not recalculate the histogram.
Tool > Color > Color to Transparency: Transparency histogram no longer shows an error message before calculating the first histogram.
Tool > Curves: After switching from HIS to RGB, the available curve modes were not adjusted.
Tool > Optimize HDR: Width of the display field for minimum and maximum is adjusted to text size.
Tool "Rotate View", Fix: Always used fast interpolation.
Copy Brush: If the brush outline was turned off with Caps Lock, the preview was also no longer displayed.
]*| Stamp tool: Didn't remember the last used stamp.
Liquify tool: Error with "Forward Warp" and "Push Left" fixed.
Copy/paste, insert at mouse position, Windows: Didn't work on Windows.
Color field, drop-down list, document colors: In the drop-down version of the document colors there was a crash when accessing the context menu.
Color field, drop-down list: Switching the color list in the drop-down list could cause a crash.
Layer List: Click on active layer reduced it visually a selected one only.
Layer List, two screens, macOS: If the secondary screen was docked to the left of the main screen and the layer list was docked to the right of the secondary screen, the name of a layer could not be changed properly because the text input field was not visible.
Buttons with pictures, macOS: The images were not inverted when the user interface was dark.
New Document, macOS: Problems with visible scrollbars fixed.
Scaled vector layer with gradient fill/stroke, Fix Layer: The gradient was incorrect after fixing.
Optimize Vector Layer: Selection whether selected points should be optimized did not work.
Fix Layer, aligned vector layers: The new layer bounds were wrong.
Fix Layer, vector: Layer masks were transformed.
Virtual copies: If a virtual copy pointed to an invisible group that had adjustment layers as children, then pixel mode was not automatically activated.
New path group from two path groups: The vector attributes were incorrect.
Text layers, text cursor: BFor heavily scaled text layers, the text cursor position was calculated very roughly.
Text layers, macOS: Page feed did not work in some cases.
Adjustment layers, document with ICC profile, rotated view: Adjustments with color space conversion didn't work correctly.
Open dialog, panel layout: With the Open dialog open, the panel layout could be changed.
Preferences, menu, macOS: The preferences did not have an icon in the menu.
Settings, keyboard layout, text functions like fat, italic, alignment: After a restart, the settings dialog didn't show the shortcuts correctly.
Document window, title bar: Information was changed depending on the size of the document, instead of the window size.
Plug-in EyeCandy: Problem with 16 bit images fixed.
External Programs: Content of the edited layer was updated too early for some programs.
External Programs, "Original" mode: There was a crash when the external program created a corrupted file.
Load document, EXIF rotation: Applying the EXIF rotation marked the document as changed.
Document Information, macOS: text completion didn't work correctly with "Copyright".
EXIF: XMP copyright was not transferred to EXIF.
EXIF: Exif DateTimeDigitized becomes xmp:CreateDate, Exif DateTime becomes zu xmp:ModifyDate.
Ghostscript import: A menu entry was also created if no Ghostscript was installed.
PDF import: Layer mask for a shade layer did not work properly.
PDF import: Flipped Type3 fonts are imported correctly.
PDF export: Gradients in groups that had "Align Pattern" enabled were not exported correctly.
SVG import: Nested <tspan> elements are now supported.
SVG import: "use" with unused "width" and "height" is now imported correctly.
SVG import: "switch" evaluates "systemLanguage.
SVG export: "class" and "style" were exported incorrectly.
JPEG export: Crash with empty docujment fixed.
Raw import, action: An assigned action was performed only on placeholders.
DXF export: Invisible layers are no longer exported.

Vector pattern: Crash when loading certain documents fixed
Create HDR image: A contrast not equal to 0 caused a crash. Also, a layer image is now created
Dark scrollbars, macOS 11: MacOS 11 did not draw the scrollbars correctly when moving them
File dialogs, macOS 11.1: Due to a bug in macOS 11.1 the size of the file dialogs was not saved
Font list: On a dark UI, the separator between the last used fonts and the list was not visible

Text shape flow, text flow: enlarging a shape to the text layer size and shrinking it later on could leave the text layer empty.
Convert With Color Profile: now with DeviceLink Profiles
Path text, Distort tool: distorting the path didn't change the path text
Image layer, paint tools, drawing a line with Shift: With transformed layers, the outline of line had the wrong size while dragging

Action with pause, accessed via shortcuts: If the Actions dialog was not visible and an action with pause was called, the pause message was not visible
Image Undo: Image Undos were sometimes incorrectly combined

New Image Processing Features:
Dynamic Filters:
Previous releases of PhotoLine already feature many non-destructive adjustments and filters. These include complex filters such as Gaussian Blur and various sharpen filters. Some, however, could only be applied destructively.
In release 20 of PhotoLine all effects and filters are now nondestructive. Dynamic Filters and placeholder layers make this possible: any of the previously destructive filters and effects can be applied to a placeholder as a dynamic filter layer. Dynamic filter layers remain 'live' and their settings can be edited at any time. Update the contents of the placeholder layer and the dynamic filter layer is automatically recalculated.
External plugins are also supported (when the plugin developer enabled this option). Dynamic placeholder filter layers open up completely new ways of working in PhotoLine.
Match Colors:
The new Match Colors adjustment matches colors between two images. It is also easy to match the colors between a target top layer with a source layer below in photo compositing. The following example demonstrates the use of the Match Colors adjustment. Let's assume you want to superimpose a different face over a portrait photo you took. The Match Color adjustment drastically simplifies this process.
Color Lookup:
The new Color Lookup adjustment remaps the original colors of an image by applying preset 3-dimensional color lookup tables (LUTs). These are commonly in use in the film industry, and allow for quick subtle or dramatic changes to photos in order to achieve a certain look. PhotoLine supports the common 3DL and Cube LUT file formats, as well as various types of ICC profiles.
Context Blur:
The new Context Blur filter is a variation on a blur filter. Depending on the settings it may be used to:
create oil paint effects;
reduce image noise;
reduce JPEG artifacts.
Invert Adjustment Layers, Layer Masks and Clipping Layers:
A new checkbox option in the layer attributes panel conveniently inverts an (adjustment) layer mask, and a vector or bitmap clipping layer.
Copy Brush, Healing Brush, and Remove Brush Tools: Improved Source Selection:
More comprehensive settings to improve the image source selection for the copy brush, healing brush, and remove brush tools are now available to the user. New options provided are “Source Layer”, Active & Below” and “All Layers”.
Graphics: Additions and Improvements:
Optional Cubic Interpolation for Gradients:
Cubic interpolation between gradient color stops is now possible in Photoline, in addition to the standard linear interpolation. This option generates a markedly smoother transition between gradient color stops.
Linear and Circular Gradients with Repetition and Mirroring:
New options to repeat and to mirror repeat gradients are available.
Circular Gradients with Elliptical Scaling:
It is now possible to scale circular gradients non-proportionally and create elliptical gradients
Improved Onscreen Widget Controls of Circular Gradients:
Improvements are made to the onscreen widget controls of circular gradients:
Circular gradients can be easily scaled non-proportionally with a new widget control.
While editing, the circular gradient circumference is displayed onscreen as an outline.
A center point is added to the onscreen widget control to enable the user to reposition the circular gradient
Vector Patterns:
PhotoLine now supports vector fill patterns. Fill patterns can also consist of combination of raster (bitmap) graphics and vector graphics. Vector patterns have the advantage to be scalable without loss of resolution and quality
Single elements of a pattern may overlap, which simplifies the construction of repeatable patterns.
To assist in pattern design, a new Pattern Mode view is added to PhotoLine (See below "Pattern View Mode")
Onscreen widget transformation controls for Pattern Fills:
The transformation of pattern fills applied to vector layers is now directly controllable onscreen with the introduction of the new onscreen pattern fill control widget.
Access this control widget by switching to the Edit Vector Points tool. The onscreen control widget is displayed as a transformation box. Positioning the box with the top left small dot controls the origin of the pattern, while the three small square handles control rotation, proportional scaling and non-proportional scaling of the selected fill pattern. The controls are similar to Photoline's layer transformation handles.
Corner-aligned Line Patterns and Line Pattern Start Offset Options:
Line patterns (dashed lines) introduce two new options: one that scales the line pattern in order to create corner-aligned dashes in a vector shape, and a second option that sets a start offset value to achieve finely-tuned line pattern alignment.
New Display Modes For Documents:
PDF Proof Display Mode:
The new PDF Proof display mode simulates the color space conversions on-screen that occur when a document is exported to PDF. This is particularly useful when you wish to soft-proof colors before exporting as PDF/X1a.
Pattern View Mode:
To assist in the creation of patterns, PhotoLine adds a new Pattern Mode in its View menu. When activated, the view will display a tiled version of the document's content. This view mode enables the user to quickly check whether the fill pattern correctly aligns relative to the document's edges.

Layers can now be searched. This becomes especially useful when working with complex documents and many layers.
The user can either filter by layer type(s), or search for layer names.
Protect Content:
A new option is added to safeguard a layer's content from editing. When this option is activated for a layer, that layer is still selectable and moveable, but the content cannot be changed.

Browse Panel: Custom Sorting Of Files:
Selecting the custom sorting option in the browse panel allows the user to freely arrange the files to display in any custom sorting order.For example, it is possible to sort files according to the daytime or based on their content. When done ordering the files manually, the Rename Multiple command can be applied to "fix" the custom file order.
Spell Checking, Windows: Native Support on Windows 10:
If Photoline is installed on Windows 10, the built-in spell checker is used - just as is the case on macOS. It is no longer necessary to install a separate spell checker such as ASpell or Hunspell.
Note: supported in the 64-bit version of PhotoLine.
File Formats:
Import and export of PDF, PSD and SVG are significantly enhanced. PSD import now attempts to import both Smart Objects and Smart Filters and convert these to PhotoLine's native placeholder layers and dynamic filters. Almost all color adjustment layers are converted to PhotoLine's adjustment layers, thereby retaining editability of the original file.
Placeholder Layers:
Existing layers can now be directly converted to placeholder layers.
A new command “Open as Placeholder” creates a placeholder document that references the selected file.
Placeholders can now be used as layer masks, as clipping layers, and as masks for adjustment layers.

The handling of the helper dialogs has been reworked. On Windows you can now dock helper dialogs to each other, that are not embedded in the main window, too.
Furthermore the current layout can be saved and used later by using the main menu ("View/Dialog Layout") or the context menu of the title bar of a helper dialog.
The Attributes dialog has been extended to a very important control center.
It will show you all important information of the active document, the active page and the active layer. Usually these values can be edited directly. You can still work the „classic way“ by using the main menu, but using the Attribute dialog is much faster.
The standard background of document windows is very bright and not best for editing dark images. Therefore the background color can now be changed optionally.
All options needed for formatting text have been combined in the tool settings of the Text tool. The now useless dialog „Text Options“ has been removed.
The Red Eye tool can correct the red eyes, that originate from taking a photo by using a flash light. In order to do this, you have to mark the red eyes by using the mouse first. On releasing the mouse button the correction will take place. The options in the Tool Settings can be used to enhance the result.
With the tool Color Position you can lay down positions in the document. The color at these positions will then be displayed in the Picture Info dialog. This allows to control the effect of an image manipulation at glance.
Color Correction can be used to correct the colors of an image. If Adjust Whitepoint is activated, bright colors and especially white are kept unmodified.
Variable Blur is a specialized Version of the Gaussian Blur. While the Gaussian Blur applies the same filter radius to the whole image, the Variable Blur adjusts the radius based on the mask value (see chapter 2.4.1) at the current location. This can used to simulate depth of field.
A mask value of 0 means a radius of 0. There is no filtering. A mask value of 255 means maximum filtering: the value entered in the dialog will be used. The calculation of the values in between depends on Bias. If the bias value is 0.50, the radius will be interpolated linearly
The scaling functions and the functions for modifying the document and the layer size now have a new working mode: Formula. Formula allows to set the new size as a formula allowing more flexibility. Especially on recording actions this is a major enhancement.
Curves now optionally allows to work in Lab or HIS color space.
Additionally the transparency (alpha channel) can now be edited, too.
SVG is going to be a standard format for vector graphics. Aside from vector graphics it can contain images and text.
PhotoLine is now able to import SVG files.

By selecting "Copy" in color fields, PhotoLine copies the color values to the clipboard. This way you can copy it into HTML documents.
It shows now the position and size of the lasso (Document tab).
If you change the intensity of the destination color the color will be set half transparent.
Once more improved. Provides support for more third-party plugins.
The browse dialog sorts file names numbers on the end now according to these numbers.
By pressing the Alt key, you can switch quickly between "Show active Layer" and "Show all Layers". This also works with the select button.
New options for saving images to allow for faster saving or smaller file sizes ("PNG fast", "PNG small" or "No Compression" modes).
Option to setup separators in the context menu.
Option to select different colors for lights and shadows.
JPEG compressed TIFF images are read better.
The import does fix smaller errors in a JPEG2000 image file to load it anyway.
You can now change file names / layer names directly without accessing dedicated dialogs.
