Windows 11 support and optimizations:
PowerArchiver 2023 is fully optimized to work and look great on Windows 11 with maximum support for the Windows 11 interface that includes high DPI support.
Support for new Windows 11 Shell extensions:
Shell extension use in the new Windows 11 OS has been optimized and the Shell extensions are conveniently accessed and will appear immediately and.
New contextual tabs:
PowerArchiver 2023 now displays the New archive, Explorer and Sharing contextual tabs in the Ribbon interface for easier access to frequently used options when working with files or archives.
New Dark and Light skins:
Find new and improved dark and light skins designed to support the Windows 11 interface and offer high DPI support.
New menu for applications access:
Access PowerArchiver applications with even more convenience from a new applications menu on the left side that features a new Recent/Favorite Files option. Faster and more convenient file and archive management.
Recent Files accessibility:
Recent files are now available for access when in PowerArchiver 2023. Easily accessed by clicking the Recent Files tab on new applications sidebar, recent files will appear for convenient access when adding to or creating new archives.

Modern Win10 – Simplified Ribbon UI:
For a long time, PowerArchiver has featured an advanced interface with great design which was welcomed by most PowerArchiver users and therefore, for the 2019 version, we are bringing our new and improved version of the Simplified Ribbon based on Microsoft Office 2019. Simplified Ribbon UI bridges the gap between the Classic toolbar interface that has been around for 25 years, and Ribbon UI that has been in PowerArchiver for last 10 years. The new interface features less buttons which allow users to concentrate on important features. The new Ribbon UI still features tabs reducing need for classic menus and shows a more organized display of buttons. It looks awesome while convenient to use. We have also added an application navigation bar in Windows 10 style to the left side of PowerArchiver, so that all of our tools and features are easily accessible – and in classic PowerArchiver tradition, if it’s not an interface that you would like to use – you can turn it off! You will also notice a redesigned File menu to the left of the home tab in the W10 interface. It has been redesigned to look great, fit in with the Ribbon interface and offer access to various file management functions that PowerArchiver has to offer. Everything is beautifully skinned too and several skins of different looks are available from the start.
SmartAI – Intelligent decision making:
As everything around us is becoming more intelligent, why not PowerArchiver? PowerArchiver 2019 now features an assistant called SmartAI. SmartAI will optimize your compression, save power, change to dark mode when necessary, enable FIPS mode system wide and enable you to work conveniently with touch screens:
SmartAI FIPS modes – lets administrators enforce FIPS policy across a single computer or whole network. PowerArchiver is the first software that will enable this mode in Windows itself, and provide visual guidance during usage to ensure that users understand if they are not in compliance. During start-up it will show an alert as a warning if FIPS mode is not properly activated. The SmartAI mode has several modes with various warning levels.
SmartAI Windows Skin Detection– it will detect what Windows 10 theme are you using – dark or light, and let you customize which PowerArchiver skin will be used when you use dark or light Windows 10 theme.
SmartAI PowerSave Mode – SmartAI will detect that your laptop is on battery and when you battery level is under certain %, it will turn on Power Saving mode in PowerArchiver, where PowerArchiver will reduce its power usage to minimum.
SmartAI Touch mode – SmartAI will detect that you are using a touch compatible computer, and will switch to the Touch mode where the interface will be easier to use and you may activate Gesture options. This mode makes PowerArchiver easier to use on Windows tablets and touch computers.
SmartAI Compression Optimization – It will automatically switch codecs in ZIP, 7zip and PA formats to increase compression or speed based on your compression strength selection. Previously featured as Optimized mode in PowerArchiver for a long time and still a one-of-a kind feature among archivers.
SmartAI Gestures – Comprehensive gesture mode that will let you use predefined and customizable gestures, making your life easier on touchscreens and especially convertible laptops, where sometimes touch is so much easier to use. In true PowerArchiver spirit, it is completely customizable and you can set it up as you want and assign gestures as you please. Gesture will also work with your mouse, when turned on.
Added faster ZIP modes and mp3 support in zipx:
Last year we have added the strongest yet fastest ZIP engine on the market. This year we are adding a new engine that is optimized for speed specifically and is used for Fast and Super Fast compression strength. It also uses multiple cores/threads and works on byte level. It can provide 2x faster compression than before! Added packmp3 support for ZIP engine, to make it fully compatible with WinZip.
PowerArchiver Mini is back:
PowerArchiver Mini has returned for 2019! PowerArchiver Mini is our Windows Explorer Preview feature where you can work directly from Windows Explorer Preview window (make sure you turn it on). Not only does it show the file list of a selected archive, you can also browse folders, open individual files and extract them with one of the available options. It is super easy to use and very intuitive. We are also adding Explorer tooltips that will show information about the archive and a summary of the files inside as a tooltip when you hover over an archive in Windows Explorer.
Private Mode option:
New Private Mode feature that clears the PowerArchiver history and cleans the temp folder with US DoD 5220.22-M approved methods.
Full Gesture support:
PowerArchiver has great support for Gestures. You can swipe around the interface intuitively with many PowerArchiver actions available. In true PowerArchiver spirit, it is completely customizable and you can set it up as you want and assign gestures as you please.
Many other improvements:
We have also added full support for screen readers in Classic toolbar. Filelist is all new and fully supports skinning, large dpi, gesturing and everything you can imagine. If you use 4k screens that are 13″ large, you will love the new PowerArchiver 2019! Open and New archive dialogues are now sporting the Windows 10 look, fully skinned too. Everything simply looks great.

SmartAI – Intelligent decision making:
As you might have noticed, everything around us is becoming more intelligent. Why not PowerArchiver? We have added your new PowerArchiver assistant called SmartAI. SmartAI has several important features:
SmartAI Dark mode – it will automatically use dark skin if you switch to Windows dark mode. When you go back to Windows light mode, it will also switch to the light mode. It also works in PowerArchiver Mini – our Windows Explorer Preview application.
SmartAI Power saving – SmartAI will detect that your laptop is on battery and when you battery level is under certain %, it will turn on Power Saving mode in PowerArchiver, where PowerArchiver will reduce its power usage to minimum.

We are pleased to announce the PowerArchiver 2018 release, the fastest PowerArchiver ever!
After introducing the best compression format on the market – Advanced Codec Pack (.pa), in 2017, we went back to the basics and thoroughly optimized PowerArchiver to provide fastest experience ever. PowerArchiver 2018 is the fastest version of PowerArchiver ever released. We also added brand new ZIP deflate engine (multicore optimized, unlimited cores), new Microsoft Ribbon GUI (optional), new PDF viewer, multiple tab support and so much more.
Modern/Ribbon GUI:
Thanks to the optimizations and to the use of Microsoft Windows Ribbon framework, Modern UI option is back! In 2017 we had to remove Modern UI option due to the new 64-bit version that made everything a bit slower, and PA would load simply too slow on older computers. Thanks to the optimizations and to the use of official Microsoft Windows Ribbon framework, startup speed has been optimized and now it starts as fast as 1s. We also added beautiful new icon pack to be used with Modern UI. Modern UI adapts to the Windows version you have, so it will look different on Windows 7 vs Windows 10.
Optimized Classic UI with full skinning support:
Default option is still Classic UI, but now completely reworked for 2018. All new Classic UI is simplified and optimized for maximum startup speed, as well as minimum memory usage. Speed optimizations made PowerArchiver 2018 the fastest PowerArchiver in history – it is up 3x faster than PowerArchiver 2016 and 2017, and even faster than old versions like 2009. You will notice the difference when you start PowerArchiver, it now loads faster than 1s on modern computers (fastest we measured was 0.5s). As the result of optimizations, even shell operations are faster (0.3s) and it also takes 2x less RAM when in use. If you are bored of classic interface, you can use our new skinning system to get all black look, office dark/white look or any of our 10+ available skins that add a bit of color to classic interface. There are also 3 options for toolbar icons that can be changed independently from skins.
New ZIP engine, stronger with unlimited core/thread support:
We reworked our ZIP engine, which now includes strongest zip compression possible, supported by official Windows 7/8/10 zip tools (standard deflate codec). Up to 7%-8% better compression than before while maintaining full compatibility with every single ZIP utility on the market. New engine will use all of your cpu threads available and is multi-core threaded by block, not file, so even single file will be sped up considerably. This gives it maximum speed possible with new 16-24 thread processors. Previous engine is now at Fast and Fastest speed levels, with speed also improved up to 2x on large files. Compared to the competition, it is faster than WinZIP at similar compression levels, and much stronger than WinRAR.
Internal, fully independent PDF Viewer:
Built in PDF viewer has been a #2 requested feature ever since Microsoft started changing things in Windows 8, when it comes to reading PDFs inside PowerArchiver. As you have requested, we have now added a special internal PDF viewer that is fast and allows you to view and print PDFs without any additional pdf tools installed. Quick and efficient, all that you need for PDF viewing and printing.
Multiple tabs support:
PowerArchiver 2018 has multiple tabs support for opening several archives in the same interface. This enables easy copy and pasting between the archives, and lets us minimize your memory usage significantly. By the default, when you open multiple archives, they will be all automatically added to the tabs of same PowerArchiver interface.
Advanced Codec Pack (.pa) – Improved!:
Best and strongest compression format is constantly improved. After the September 2017 update that increased compression for large files, we have now added better mp3 and jpeg codecs. Try the PA format for yourself and see how much better it is than zip, zipx, rar and 7z. Advanced Codec Pack (.pa) has special codecs for docx, pdf, mp3, jpeg, exe, text and many other file types, that will automatically give you better compression than anything else on the market. It will also do block based file deduplication and provides strongest security currently available in archivers, with BWTS + 256 bit AES encryption, using FIPS 140-2 validated encryption components.

FAST startup– PowerArchiver 2018 has been optimized from the ground up to be lighting fast on startup – our #1 user requested improvement. We had to change a lot of internal code but it was well worth it – now PowerArchiver will start up to 3x faster than before and 2x faster than WinZIP 22. If you are running a fast computer, PowerArchiver will start well under 1s and shell extensions under 0.5s, all while still looking beautiful. This has also improved memory usage, which is now down by 40%.
Multiple Tabs are here – PowerArchiver 2018 supports multiple tabs, so you can open multiple archives in the same interface. Save time and be more productive with our new tabs.
Ribbons is BACK – We had to remove our Ribbon toolbar last year, due to optimization reasons and the new x64 release. Now we have added it back, using official Microsoft SDK for the ribbon that makes it fast and alsways looks the same as your Microsoft Windows built-in ribbon. We heard your requests for Ribbon and here it is!
Customizable to the core with new Skins – All these speed optimizations do not mean that PowerArchiver is not pretty anymore. Yes it is! Once done with optimizations, we have added more customizable options than ever – not only you can change skins, but we also added a new icon pack for the toolbar and made it possible to switch file format icons to one of the available styles! So you can change GUI skins, toolbar icons and file format icons too, customize PA to your own liking!
Built in PDF preview – this has been a #2 requested feature for ever since Microsoft started changing things in Windows 8 when it comes to reading PDFs inside PowerArchiver. Two base modes: Optimized Fast and Optimized Strong deliver the fastest/strongest compression in the industry.
Smart Optimized modes select the best compression/speed ratios on per-file basis, increasing compression rate and speed. In one compression scenario, PowerArchiver can use multiple codecs for different files/extensions! This provides much better compression/speed since we can target codecs better.
Optimized Fast – fast compression modes with 50MBs-400MBs compression speeds, depending on files and strength chosen. Data deduplication features and compression stronger than zip format.
Optimized Strong – Strong compression features at reasonable speeds even at Extreme level. Optimized for processors with 4 and more threads. Supports multicore extraction and data deduplication. Special coders for stronger levels delivering better compression than comparable options in competing software.
PDF, DOCX and PNG compression – compress your PDF and DOCX (Office) files between 30% and 70% better than WinRAR, WinZip and 7zip. Also used for PNG, APK, ZIP and other files with deflate streams.
FIPS 140-2 256-bit AES encryption – Advanced Codec Pack (.PA) is very secure. Not only we use FIPS 140-2 validated encryption components, we also apply special transformation filter that ensures that the data being encrypted does not have any LZ compression markers that could make brute-force attacks easier. We consider it considerably more secure than encryption methods available in ZIP and RAR formats.
JPEG codec – uses Lepton compression for jpeg files, strong compression up to 23%.
MP3 codec – Strongest and fastest MP3 compression codec on the market with full multi-core support. Better compression and up to 3x faster speeds than WinZIP MP3 compression.
Special Deduplication filter – fast filter that finds similar data at 50MB/s speeds (single thread). Works great for similar files that have some similar data, for instance when backing up your office files, this filter should increase compression ratios significantly. Compressing Software ISO’s with deduplication filter can lower the size by extra 500MB compared to WR, WZ, 7-zip (Office 2016 ISO 2.25GB example), with super-fast compression!
Special codec for compressing txt/html/xhtml files. Better compression at faster speeds, multi-core optimized.
Special exe/dll filters – collection of special filters that improves compression up to 10-15% for exe/dll files. Super fast!
Multi-core extraction – Most codecs have multi-thread support based on our mtwrap which automatically gives you multi-threaded extraction. This means that extraction is also fast despite use of advanced and strong compression.
Custom compression profiles – Extensive support for custom compression profiles that let you configure 20+ codec options thus making sure you can setup special case scenarios that work the best for your own data.
Actively developed in-house, with frequent updates and new future codecs, optimizations and more. Currently over 10 filters/codecs are transparently used at the same time depending on file and options selected..
Other PowerArchiver 2017 features:
Full 64bit support – for maximum speed and memory usage of the new .PA (Advanced Codec Pack). Please use x64 version of PowerArchiver when possible. Used for all compression codecs, improves speed and memory usage.
New two-panel Explorer mode – Explorer replacement mode for powerful file handling!
Improved ZIP engine – Improved speed of our ZIP engine, fastest engine becoming even faster by 10-15% on average. You can now control the number of threads used for compression.
Improved 7-zip support – Multi-core 7-zip support in the 64bit version. Much faster compression speeds than before.
Interface changes – The Classic Toolbar is now the main and only interface. The Modern Toolbar has been removed in order to optimize speed and memory usage. The Classic interface has been extensively improved with the addition of a navbar at the bottom to better navigate all the various features available in PowerArchiver 2017. Startup speed has drastically improved under any condition and it is by up to 2x-3x faster, depending on computer specifications.
New Office add-ins – support for Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Easily compress/encrypt/send without leaving Microsoft Office.

Shell extensions – major update with many new features (both 32bit and 64bit):
PowerArchiver Mini – PowerArchiver Mini brings PowerArchiver functionality to Windows Explorer Preview window. You can not only preview your archives in any Windows Explorer window, but you can also open individual files and extract archive to desired place, all through Windows Explorer Preview window.
Windows Explorer Tool tips – Shows tool tip when you hover over archive in Windows Explorer or desktop, with some basic archive info such as number of files, several file names and size.
PowerArchiver shell extensions – preview extension added
Added an preview shell extension to PowerArchiver. When clicked on, shows files in archive.
Windows Explorer Property sheet – Added archive property sheet to Windows Explorer properties. When clicked on, some of the archive information is being shown.
Join files shell extension – New shell extension that lets you combine several archives into one.
Extract to filename\ improvements- By default enabled, lets you extract each archive into separate folder – with regular Extract to filename\ still working (all selected archives into folder named after first archive).
