- We made several improvements in the core API of our app. As a result, you will see small improvement in the app's performance related to the speed. In other words, overall processing time will be decreased for couple of percents. The app will work faster.

- With this update we are removing SHA1 code signing certificate from our executables. The SHA1 digest was deprecated by Microsoft many years ago. We keept it after that for many more years just to support old operating systems.
- From now on our code will be signed by modern SHA256 only. Thus, legacy systems, such as Windows 7 and earlier will see "unsigned executable" warning, because they don't recognize newest SHA256.
- You may still use our app, just click "yes" or "approve" to continue. Just a warning message on a legacy systems will change from normal blue to yellow warning.
- This change is related to legacy system only, such as Windows 7 and earlier. Windows 10 and 11 users will not be affected.
- Please accept our apologies, but we need to move forward, we can't stay with old digest in code signing forever. For those who worry about security - you can right click our file, select Properties, select digital signatures, and you will see that the code signing certificate is valid.
New in Prevent Restore 2211.00 (Oct 15, 2022)
- This release adds support for disks of new laptops that has newest caching software. Let us explain.
- Any HDD or SSD disk is not "just a disk". It contains micro chip inside which controls read/write operations. In other words, it has small computer inside. Also, this chip has a caching system to speed up those operations.
- Each manufacturer has its own software that runs on this chip, and its a pain for us to support all of them, but we are doing our best to keep our own software with up to date information about these new systems.

- Fixed critical bug related to the user interface: non-english users have noticed wrong dates on the screen which shows you how many days you are using our app. This is important to know, because we provide 6 month free trial period and the wrong number makes you upset. Especially, when some of our users saw numbers like 2425242525 and more days... That's have no sense, of cause! We have fixed this bug. Note that this issue was related only to users who have interface language different than english. In english version the app worked fine. Please, accept our apologies.
New in Prevent Restore 2021.05 (Sep 6, 2021)
- Added new feature: now you can see current speed of disk writes (realtime statistics). In fact, that speed means amount of data overwritten every second on the selected disk. This function only available in the "full overwrite" mode. We enjoy this small, but nice and informative function, do you? :)

- This update includes several system changes that will affect stability and security. Some of changes will improve look and style.
- Added new versioning policy: from now on version number will start with two digits - year of release, and two next digits will mean build number. The dot will be removed (but will remain in technical information).
- Improved user interface of several system screens.
- Improved uninstaller module: it was signed by code signing certificate to prevent security issues. Previously, unsigned executable could rise warning message in your antivirus, but this is now resolved.
- Fixed issue with the blinking menu icon. It should and it will blink, but will not crash anymore.

- This release fixes several issues that were related to the interface of Professional version. Don't worry, all functions were worked properly, just information on the screen in a few places were corrupted for some users (not all). Please accept our apologies!

New in Prevent Restore 2020.04 (Oct 21, 2020)
- NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
- Added new function to search for software updates manually. At any time, as you wish. You can access this option from the menu which is available under icon at the top right corner of an app's window. Note that automatic updates also enabled, thus there is no need to use this new option until you want it "right here, right now"...
- Added new option to turn off "typing effect" which you see in the title bar while the program loading or changing scenes. You can find this option by clicking system menu icon on the top right side of the program's window, then click menu option "About the app". This option can improve performance of slow computers or you can turn it off if you simply don't like it.
- Improved programming code in the few main functions for better performance.
- Improved cryptography algorithm to handle possible errors, this could reduce bugs or (at least) inform us about them using friendly interface. We made this change because we were informed by group of users having issues with cryptography module.
- BUG FIXES AND REMOVED FUNCTIONS
- Fixed bug when disabled typing effect result in overload of title bar.
- Fixed bug that displays wrong version number in "About" window.
- Removed encryption module; it was never used (less code - less bugs).
- Removed statistics function, the app will work a little bit faster.
New in Prevent Restore 2020.03 (Aug 27, 2020)
- NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS:
- Added new function - you can select number of passes to overwrite free disk space. The more you choose the more security you will get, but don't be paranoid. Usually, it's enough 1 pass, however, for standard security level 3 is good. For maximum security 7 is recommended. But you can go ahead and try any number. Note that each overwrite pass increases time which is needed for processing.
- Added support for the following disk formats: FAT, FAT32 and exFAT. These are usually formats of external storage, such as USB flash drive, thus, you can wipe these disks too from now on.
- Added link with important information about processing system disks. Please, click it and read.
- Improved english translations.
- Improved system menu (right top corner of an app window). Added few new options: language switcher and "About" window with general information about the app.
- Improved welcome screen - language switcher moved to another place, and the screen is now very simple and friendly.
- BUG FIXES:
- Fixed bug that shows an error message when the processing actually was fine.

- Improved design.
- Improved progress bar for Professional users - it's now much more informative.
- Improved cleaning (code improvements).
- Improved installation procedure: you can now choose application language and location of shortcuts during setup in a more convenient way.
- Improved notification period for messages about upgrading to Professional version. Previously, reminder window appeared every time. Now, it will appear once per 3 days, and only for days when you have used our software. This is very good news for users who want to keep using our software for free.
- Added function to reset activation for owners of Professional version. You can now easily transfer your license to another computer.
New in Prevent Restore 2020.01 (Jun 11, 2020)
- This release includes only one change that was promised with previous release - we have enabled second mode "full overwrite". This mode will provide you an option to completely overwrite free disk space to prevent any recovery. We will keep improving this mode in next releases.
New in Prevent Restore 4.33 (Mar 11, 2020)
- This release includes several bug fixes and a new code signing certificate. The old one has expired and with this release we are replacing it to a new one. This update should be installed by all users because software can stop working shortly with an old certificate (security measure of Windows OS). That's why it is important to keep all your software up to date.

- In this release we are improving some visual experience with the program. Some elements were moved, replaced and removed. Generally, you will not notice big difference, but as we think it give us feel of refresh and a little bit more organized navigation.

- This update of the program dedicated to bug fixes. Within past month our users reported several situations which resulted in program crushes or errors. Some of these problems has been investigated and solved. Please accept our apologies, and thank you for your help! Without you it was impossible!
- We also made some changes that you will like, for sure.
- Notification about new version will appear less often. Previously it disturbs you once per month, now the period is 6 months. Less annoying alerts!
- Fixed few bugs reported by our users in past month.
- Disabled error reporting, our company will no longer receive any crash reports from the program. This will reduce amount of system resources needed for our program to work.

- This update makes some changes to our program to be GDPR compliant. As you are probably aware, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on May 25th, 2018. Our company is committed to transparency, control and accountability. We have been working on GDPR during this month and we can guarantee that on May 25th we are fully GDPR compliant. Our focus is to whilst adhering to the latest changes and updates to the industry and to EU regulations. What is GDPR Compliance? The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU-wide regulation for the protection of European citizens data that comes into force on May 25th, 2018 and all companies that collect such data will need to comply with it. It establishes a set of compliance and security processes around managing personally identifiable information so that it is not misused.

- This release dedicated to quality and stability. We spent many years working with programs that helps you protect privacy. But other guys, from Microsoft, also not sleeping. They release updates for Windows OS and sometimes they change a lot of things inside, which you don't see. Thus, we must work hard to track these changes. And if these changes making problems to our products we must update our code so everything will work fine as before. Thats why we release new version of our products on a regular basis. These updates contains small fixes related to updates of Windows OS, for quality and stability.

- Fixed critical bug with incorrect value in the progress bar which results in fatal program crash.
- Correct notification if Microsoft .Net Framework was corrupted.
- Fixed invisible bug in our error reporting system. Till now some very small error reports was not passed to our system due to the misconfiguration. Thus we didn't knew that you got ome error. This problem has been fixed, and we will receive now details about even small errors which may happen with our products.
New in Prevent Restore 4.21 (Feb 13, 2017)
- This release includes only one change but this is very important change - an updated security certificate. Current code signing certificate will expire in March, thus we have decided to release this update early so you wont be locked in March by the Windows security system.

- This release fixes minor problem with the error message "ShellExecute" which may come during usage of the program. It's not critical error, however, it can crash the program. Recommended for install.
New in Prevent Restore 4.18 (Sep 13, 2016)
- In this release we made very big step ahead for quality. Our program will now track any possible error which may appear in our product and report it to us. Just think: you saw some error message, and usually you can do nothing about this, but... in the background... in a few seconds our engineers will receive alert about this error. And we will start working to find a reason of the error, and find a solution. We hope this new functionality will reduce number of problems with our products, and minimize error messages, make our software high-quality not just in words. This function does not require any additional actions on your side, and there is no settings at all for it.

- In this release we made light improvement to the source code related to the security. Due to the nature of the problem (security) we can't provide more details about it. Also, the program was signed by a new security certificate.
New in Prevent Restore 4.15 (Feb 23, 2016)
- In this update we have signed the program using new code signing certificate. Now all according new standard from Microsoft: SHA256, which requires all programs starting 2016 have the new (more secure) certificate. The old certificate still attached to the program, thus it can work on older versions of Windows OS.
New in Prevent Restore 4.14 (Jan 15, 2016)
- This release fixes bug which prevented high speed processing on some SSD disks. If you have SSD disk may be you have noticed that our program works even slower than on HDD disk. This happened not often, but sometimes. Now this problem has been fixed, and SSD disks processed very quickly (as it possible).

- Added two new security algorithm: Infosec Standard 5 and RCMP TSSIT OPS-II.
- Today we're releasing the most important update for this year for this program! We have increased security by adding two new algorithms to the program.
- The algorithms are: Infosec Standard 5 and RCMP TSSIT OPS-II. Users who use programs for security should know these names very well. These algorithms often used for data destruction. These algorithms will reach the same benefits as other algorithms which we already have in our program, but it will give you more comfort, more choices.
- Speed of the destruction process is almost the same, in general, you will not notice difference in time. Also, goal is the same. You can see these two new names in the drop down list with other security options. Enjoy!

- Fixed error which displays a message that the program can't access to the root folder. This problem occurs with 2% of our users, but it is now corrected.
- We're starting to investigate issue with incorrect calculation of estimated time of work. This problem happens often with our users.
