New in Reg Organizer 6.0 (Jan 22, 2013)

  • Tweaks - the tool which is intended for changing the hidden and hard-to-get-to options of the operating system - has been revamped. Here are some changes:
  • Quick tune-up groups have been added. With their help, it is possible to optimize the specific aspects of the operating system functioning with a few mouse clicks. For example, when working with the Internet or system, load and unload time can be optimized.
  • The number of tweaks available in the program for manual changing by the user was increased.
  • For more experienced users, an option was added to create their own tweaks and share them with other users. Also the created tweaks can be exported so that Reg Organizer won’t be needed to open them. Any registry editing tool will do, for example, the standard regedit.exe from the operating system.

  • Windows 8 support (the rest of the tools of Reg Organizer supported it before as well).

To do this, you just enter the alias “rrr” in the Run window (it appears when pressing the Win + R keys combination in Windows), in the search field of the Start Menu, or the Start screen of Windows 8. This will result in opening the registry editor of Reg Organizer. The confirmation window of the User Account Control (UAC) feature of Windows won’t be displayed.

  • The Undoing Changes Center is an updated feature allowing you to rollback

  • The message "TTaskDialog requires themes to be enabled" could also be shown under the same conditions while working with the installing applications with tracing function.

  • A functional editor of registry files (.reg) was added to the program. The edited registry file is displayed as a tree, and the program supports virtually all possible operations with the registry file like with the registry itself: adding/deleting keys, adding / modifying parameters, etc.
  • An ability to copy a key to any registry key. In the previous version, the location of the key to which the key could be copied and that of the original key had to be the same.
  • The Favorites function supports adding both keys and parameters.
  • The following registry value types are now supported (this includes displaying and editing): REG_RESOURCE_LIST, REG_RESOURCE_REQUIREMENTS_LIST and REG_FULL_RESOURCE_DESCRIPTOR.
  • Upon exiting the registry editor, the program remembers the last key the user worked with and opens it at the next registry editor start (this feature can be disabled in the program settings).

New in Reg Organizer 5.0 Beta 6 (Nov 11, 2009)

  • The newest version of Reg Organizer delivers an enhanced registry optimization tool. Now the system enters a special protected mode before
  • registry optimization. In this mode, the screen goes dark (except the optimization window of Reg Organizer) and the user cannot use other
  • applications while the optimization process is in progress. Once compression and defragmentation are finished, the screen is restored to its normal state. All this makes the process more secure.

  • The progress now displayed when preparing data to show on the "File Extensions" part of the Manual Registry Cleanup function.

New in Reg Organizer 5.0 Beta 1 (Jul 22, 2009)

  • The first beta version of Reg Organizer 5, the utility designed for comprehensive maintenance of the Microsoft Windows system registry, has been released. The utility supports a wide range of operations with the system registry varying from cleaning, optimization, and find-and-replace operations to editing of registry files and more.
  • Reg Organizer 5 improves user-friendliness and enhances the functionality of the tool. The user interface was completely revamped. Management tools were enhanced, and new controls that facilitate the use of the program were added.
  • The new registry editor enables users to easily edit registry files and even create complete registry files without exiting the registry editor. Sometimes it is necessary to create assembled registry files to transfer the settings of different applications. However, standard system tools provide no easy way to perform these operations. Reg Organizer 5 can help solve these problems. To learn more about the new registry editor, read Reg Organizer 5: The New Registry Editor Features
  • Reg Organizer’s automatic registry and disc cleanup functions were implemented in the form of step-by-step wizards. Now you can easily and quickly perform automatic cleaning step-by-step without additional questions or other difficulties. To learn more about the automatic cleaning function, see Reg Organizer 5: New Features in Automatic Registry Cleanup.
  • The capabilities of the manual registry cleanup function were enhanced, with some of the functions being automated. For example, you no longer have to pay attention to 100% of the errors while searching for the ones you want to delete. The utility now highlights them automatically and prompts you to correct them. Also, a new type of data grouping will allow you to customize the manual cleaning mode to accomodate your needs. To learn more about the manual cleaning function, see Reg Organizer 5: The New Manual Registry Cleanup Features.
  • Reg Organizer 5 supports enhanced registry fine-tuning functions (including new functions compatible with Windows Vista), provides an updated interface for the Add or Remove Programs function, and features a new function of the system express analysis that can roughly evaluate the status of the system immediately after the program is launched.

New in Reg Organizer 4.23 Beta 1 (Feb 9, 2009)

  • Minor fixes and improvements in the Manual Registry Cleanup mode.
  • The extensions of some files with Reg Organizer data have been changed because some "aggressive" disk cleanup programs used to delete these files. This resulted in the "Error in CRC module" error at Reg Organizer startup forcing users to reinstall the program.
  • This bug has been fixed: Sometimes after an attempt to delete files on the Startup Applications tab in the Manual Registry Cleanup mode, they were not actually deleted.

New in Reg Organizer 4.20 Final (Dec 4, 2007)

  • Disk Cleanup mode: Now you can clear temporary folders (the so-called "Clean folders"). All files, regardless of their types, will be deleted from the specified folders. / Faster disk scan.
  • Manual Registry Cleanup mode: An "IE Context Menu" tab has been added. It shows items from the Internet Explorer context menu. You can remove unnecessary items. / The algorithms of tabs showing the items on the New File and Open With... operating system menus have been more clearly defined and revised (in the previous version the content of these tabs could be somewhat different from the corresponding menus of the operating system).
  • Improvements in the Registry Search and Replace mode: The find and replace feature now supports Registry entry values of the REG_MULTI_SZ type (a multi-line string). / To make them more visual, coincidences in strings are highlighted in bold in the table with search results. / If you find and then replace matches, Reg Organizer shows the number of replaced matches. (Only the number of found matches was previously shown, and it could have been different from the number of replaced matches when Reg Organizer could not replace some matches.)
  • Applications Uninstall mode: A more visual representation of the application uninstall report is provided. Now both successfully completed stages of application removal and those that had errors are graphically highlighted. / The removing log file button was moved from the Application Uninstallation window to the toolbar of the Logged Applications tab.
  • Registry Editing mode: When opening keys from Favorites, they are automatically expanded. / When selecting a key from the drop-down list containing the previously displayed keys, the program automatically opens the selected key. (Previously it was only displayed in the key input field.) / When quickly scrolling through the tables of data, the content does not flicker any more. / Reg Organizer restores the width of all table columns in the main window. / The documentation has been updated. / The memory leak has been fixed and, as a result, there is no performance degradation when you open the "New File Menu" tab in the Manual Registry Cleanup mode. / Registry Search and Replace mode: After you remove Registry entries, the total number of entries is now refreshed. / When saving the Registry search results to a text file, unnecessary (service) characters are no longer present in the strings containing the matches. / When editing entries of the DWORD type, the new value of the edited entry is now displayed in the "After Replacement" column. / If the "Whole words only" option was enabled, search strings located in the middle of a sentence were skipped and were not included in search results. / For automatic replacement in the registry, the value of an entry was not modified, but only its name was modified when the string for replacement was found both in the name and in the value of one entry.
  • In Applications Uninstall mode, when viewing file system changes the installed application made, the names of the modified, created, and deleted files were duplicated.
  • The "Skip hidden files and folders" and "Skip system files and folders" options in the Disk Cleanup settings were always considered disabled, even if they were selected.
