  • The boot configuration is checked for all Windows® backups and mirrors. Previously, this only worked for backups and mirrors of the running Windows®. Now, the recovery environment can be used to copy a Windows® drive to a new drive. After this, Windows® can start from the new drive.

  • Setup offers a new hotkey:
  • CtrlAlt W takes you directly to the extended Windows® startup menu. From this menu a Windows® to go that resides on a USB stick can be selected.

  • Desktop becomes data folder:
  • Many users put their files on the desktop. Previously, the desktop was backed up with Install Backup and restored and cleaned with Install Restore. As a result, the files on the desktop were lost. Now the desktop is considered as a data folder and is no longer backed up by Install Backup nore restored by Install Restore. Exceptions are files that end with .lnk, .url. and .ini.

  • Fixed Bugs:
  • Previously Logoff-Trojans (eg Win32-Shiotob) were rendered harmless with Install-Restore, but the Trojan file remained in an invisible folder on the hard disk. An accidental reactivation of the Trojan was very unlikely.
  • To avoid being found by security software, Logoff-Trojans hide in memory while the user is logged on. Only when the user logs off, the Trojan writes itself back to disk. But this is now prevented during the restart after Install-Restore.
