New in ShadowProtect Desktop Edition 5.2.2 (Mar 9, 2015)

  • Includes a new agent option to display additional infomation in the log regarding backup Read and Write speeds. This helps in determining and remediating the cause of slow backups.
  • Issues Resolved:

New in ShadowProtect Desktop Edition 5.2.0.36537 (Mar 9, 2015)

  • Features/Enhancements:
  • ShadowProtect now supports backup to a NETGEAR ReadyDATA device. ShadowProtect writes the backup image file as a VHDX file.

  • ShadowProtect now supports a new set of retention policy settings for the NETGEAR ReadyDATA target backup destination.
  • The ShadowProtect Mount wizard now supports mounting VHDX files as read-only.
  • Now uses consistent naming for backup files created from saving changes to a mounted image file.
  • Includes an option to create encrypted (password protected) backup files without creating an SPK file. This allows organizations to turn this function off when they create a new backup job if they do not wish to create and store the password-related SPK file in the same physical location as the backup files. For continuous incremental backup jobs, the user will need to use ImageManager 6.5.4 or later to manage the backup chain. Using ImageManager 6.5.4 or later, they can manage folders on a per-Agent level (so the same password is used for all managed folders) and/or on a per Managed Folder level (so a different password can be used for each backup chain).
  • Supports direct input of values for incremental backup timing in the Backup Job wizard.
  • Now displays a backup file mounted under the Local System ("SYSTEM") account so that the backup appears in Windows Explorer running under the local user account.

  • The Silent Install option now includes a mandatory install parameter to accept the StorageCraft EULA for ALL silent installs ("IACCEPT=STORAGECRAFT.EULA").
  • Now uses AES256 as the default encryption method.
  • Includes the SPDiagnostics tool for use with STC Support in resolving issues.
  • Issues Resolved:
  • Fixed a variety of localization issues.
  • Fixed a bug where the ShadowProtect UI might freeze in the rare event that a user created a key file using a text editor in place of KeyFileMaker.
  • Improved error messages to more clearly reflect the cause and possible resolutions for the related issues.
  • Fixed an issue where ShadowProtect would not follow the naming convention for backup files in a chain. This would occur when saving changes from an image file mounted as writable and then choosing to shrink that file. The software now appends a suffix (starting with -M001) to indicate this new file is a branch from the existing chain.
