SlideDog Changelog

What's new in SlideDog 2.1.1

Aug 20, 2019
  • This is a bug fix release that should make SlideDog perform better when using different font scaling on primary and secondary monitors. A couple of minor bugs are also squashed:
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed HiDPI/scaling issues with VLC, Prezi and YouTube (via Chromium).
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed issue that triggered Adobe Reader pop-up when displaying PDFs.
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed issue where secondary screen would not be detected properly.

New in SlideDog 2.0.9 (Aug 20, 2019)

  • New Feature: Add Network Video Streams:
  • You can now play network video streams, (using http, rtsp, rtp & mms protocols) and add those streaming URLs to your SlideDog playlist, just like any other presentation file or media. Use “Add Item” - “From Web” and select “Stream” to add the streaming URL. You can also stream YouTube url’s, but it will not work for all videos and might stop working if YouTube suddenly changes their implementation. Use with caution. The difference between adding a YouTube video as a network stream instead of the regular way is that the streaming method will try to open the raw video in VLC instead of using a browser window.
  • New Feature: Use your default browser for viewing web pages:
  • This version also comes with a setting that lets you select your default browser for viewing web pages instead of the bundled version of Chromium. You’ll find this setting under “Preferences” - “Web pages”. Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox, Opera and Internet Explorer are supported (Microsoft Edge is not supported at the moment).
  • Other changes:
  • [Improvement] Third-party application detection code (for detecting PowerPoint, Adobe Reader, etc) rewritten from scratch in .NET 4.6. Should make SlideDog start faster and not cause false positive anti virus warnings.
  • [Bug Fix] Fixed issue that caused SlideDog to wrongfully think you were offline (not connected to the Internet), which would prevent activation of SlideDog Pro keys
  • [Asset Update] Updated from Chromium 73 to 74. Fetched and updated from https://chromium.woolyss.com.

New in SlideDog 2.0.3 (Aug 20, 2019)

  • We have updated to the latest version of VLC ( v.3.0.6 ). All video file formats that are supported in VLC are also supported in SlideDog.
  • New architecture that allows for better utilization of VLC’s many features.
  • Better support for future versions of VLC, making it easier to keep SlideDog on par with new VLC releases.
  • In practice, updating SlideDog to using the latest version of VLC means that a lot of video related issues should be gone. For example, these specific issues reported by SlideDog users are now fixed:
  • Bug causing some videos to be stopped prematurely.
  • Bug where some videos would be rotated 90 degrees.
  • Bug where some videos would have audio stutter during pre-loading of the SlideDog playlist.
  • You can now add .srt and .sub files to show subtitles over the video. Just drop the .srt file in the same folder as the video file and make sure it has the same file name as the video (example: awesome-winter-video.mp4 & awesome-winter-video.srt)
  • Other, non-video related, updates in this version:
  • Fixed issue where jumping to a specific page in a PDF would not work.
  • Fixed issue where PowerPoint would not show up on the correct screen.
