New in Radio Optimizer 5.0.0 (Aug 13, 2013)

  • Major upgrade of MBL9 and MBL18 processors. The result is a smoother more even sound.MBL18 probably sounds better that MBL9.
  • The princciple change is to remove the platforms and replace them with a detector that more closely follows the loudness of the sorce. This has been called 'PPM' because the timing of the detector is close to a PPM meter.A PPM meter is a fairly good estimate of the loudness.
  • The second major change is called 'VT' mode.(Variable Threshold). This mode compresses each band above and below the limiting threshold.
  • Minor change is the addition of global enables/disables for each processor. When only one processor is enabled it allows Sonos to run the full 8 instances if your hardware will support the CPU load.Previously only 5 instances were possible. There is a limitation in the Windows operating system that prevents more. The next release will hopefully fix the problem more completely and allow more than 8 instances.
  • Finally the need to install the Visual C++ run time has been removed. If you still get an error message when Sonos is started then install the Visual C++ 10 runtime.
