  • Version 5.0 of Steelray Project Analyzer introduces four new major reports.
  • Grouped Matrix Report:
  • The grouped matrix report can simply be considered a cross section of where a grouping and tasks that match a criterion intersect. Tasks are grouped by custom field entries. The custom field entries are represented along the Y-axis and the criteria along the X-axis. The number of matching tasks is an intersection of criterion and group name. This is useful for breaking out criterion results by a group when the groups are something like CAMs or cost accounts.
  • Milestone Indices Report:
  • The milestone indices look at performance and progress focusing on specific milestones. The milestone indices is an idea proposed by Bob Rodgers of TenSix Consulting. Bob and Steelray collaborated to produce this report for Steelray Project Analyzer.
  • There are two metrics in the Milestone Indices Report. The the Event Performance Indicator (EPI) and the Overall Event Performance Indicator (OEPI). The first calculation (EPI) looks at the performance of the work being done that affects this milestone. Like many indices, 1.0 is on schedule, greater than 1.0 is ahead of schedule, and less than 1.0 is behind schedule. The second calculation (OEPI) will start at 0.0 and move toward 1.0 at completion of the milestone. It can be used as a progress indicator, or alternatively an alternate measure of percent complete toward the milestone.
  • Grouped Bar Chart:
  • The Grouped Bar Chart organizes data, identified in a custom text field, horizontally and can be pivoted between group and criteria.
  • Tree Map Chart:
  • The Tree Map organizes data, identified in a custom text field, as a set of rectangles with nested rectangles identifying criteria.

  • Version 4.2, Build 512 of Steelray Project Analyzer contains three new major features.
  • Multiple Schedule Compare:
  • Pro version users now have the ability to compare any number of schedules with this new report. Simply select your schedules in the "Projects" list, order them chronologically and click Analyze.
  • Configurable 14 Point Assessment:
  • The 14 point assessment criteria now support settings. Use the Criteria Manager to create 14 point assessment criteria that contain settings such as defining your LOE fields, what constitutes high duration or high float and more.
  • Enhanced PowerPoint Output:
  • On the heels of our successful Excel output enhancements, we've applied this same speed boost to PowerPoint for this release.   • Version 4.1, Build 502 of Steelray Project Analyzer is a feature/maintenance release.
  • Attention Excel Users: All of our Microsoft Excel outputs have been updated to use Microsoft Excel 2007 or better. What this means to you is that we're able to output Excel files from Analyzer almost instantaneously. If you use Excel based reports in Project Analyzer, this is going to be a signficant performance boost. We have included new templates for template based outputs. You will need to update those references. If you use custom templates, please update those to use the ".xlsx" file extension.
  • We've also addressed some compatibility issues with Microsoft Project 2013 files.

New in Steelray Project Analyzer 4.0 Build 498 (May 25, 2015)

  • Version 4.0, Build 498 of Steelray Project Analyzer is a maintenance release. Anyone who uses the Microsoft Excel outputs with Steelray Project Analyzer is highly encouraged to download this update. Times to produce Excel Analyzer Scorecards and GAO Reports have increased by orders of magnitude.
  • In addition to this change, there was a fix to protected reports where SPA filters were not being loaded in protected reports.

  • Version 4.0 of Steelray Project Analyer has added a report gallery. The gallery is a visual representation of all of the reports available within Project Analyzer. Each thumbnail provides a basic visual of what the report provides. More information can be obtained at a glance by hovering over each thumbnail.
  • Select a report with a single click. When a report is selected, detailed information about the report is displayed along with a mock up of the output. When a report is added, the configuration screen for that report is brought up (if necessary) and a progress indicator denotes when the configuration is complete.
