StepMania Player Changelog

What's new in StepMania Player 0.7.57 Beta

May 9, 2013
  • Now works on pre-Windows 7 versions of Windows again. This big problem was caused by a change Microsoft made to Windows 7, causing any ActiveX Data Objects-based programs compiled on Win7 to not work on any earlier OSes.

New in StepMania Player 0.7.56 Beta (May 9, 2013)

  • Pressing 8 (to skip to the start of audio) no longer causes a crash when no simfile is loaded but remote control is enabled. This situation would occur when starting the program if remote control was enabled when the program was last exited.

New in StepMania Player 0.7.55 Beta (May 9, 2013)

  • Previously, when running the program for the first ever time (when a "startup.cfg" file doesn't exist), a message would be shown saying that the config file may not be in the correct format. This message is now no longer shown - the program silently uses the default settings (this part hasn't changed).

New in StepMania Player 0.7.54 Beta (May 9, 2013)

  • Changed the text of some messages which could appear in "Fix DLL OCX.exe" where it mentioned my old program "Bleeper Music Maker" instead of "StepMania Player"... that's my lazy copy-and-pasting for you.
  • New "Remote Clicker Settings" screen which is accessed from the "More Stuff" button on the main window. On this window, you can specify the IP address of the computer running the new "SMP Remote Clicker" program. Please run Remote Clicker before ticking "Enable control", so that StepMania Player will be able to connect to Remote Clicker.
  • New program called "SMP Remote Clicker" included. It simulates mouse clicks and is controlled by StepMania Player (which can be running on a different computer - they connect over a network using Winsock). It's designed to click "Play" and "Stop" on any other program (e.g. laser show) whenever you start and stop playback on StepMania Player.
  • 4th trigger key for remote control added; pressing 8 now jumps to start of audio (pressing 7 still jumps to the first note).
  • Special servo signals (for the SSC-32) changed to work on pins 29, 30 and 31, instead of 13, 14 and 15, respectively. This is to allow them to run on a different voltage (e.g. 4.8 volts) to the lights which the SSC-32 may also be controlling (e.g. 12 volts) - the pins are on the other side of the board.

New in StepMania Player 0.7.53 Beta (May 9, 2013)

  • Fixed bug where playback would "hang" at the end of the simfile. The program would keep responding, but wouldn't loop or "stop" (reset) like it should. This would happen when "Play music too" was ticked, but the audio file finished playing before the last event in the list was due to happen.
