New in StockMarketEye 5.5.0 (Jul 4, 2021)

  • Introducing StockMarketEye “Essentials”:
  • With the release of StockMarketEye 5.5, we are introducing the new StockMarketEye “Essentials” subscription. Essentials is our new, base level subscription.
  • Users with an Essentials subscription have exclusive access to the new Advanced Brokerage Import feature and the new Total Return report. Additionally, an Essentials subscription gives you access to a modern subscription portal where you can easily view and manage your StockMarketEye subscription details (credit cards, receipts, license key, etc).
  • The previous, base level “Standard” subscription is no longer sold, but is fully supported. Current users may choose to remain on the “Standard” subscription as long as the subscription does not lapse.
  • Current users on our “Standard” subscription are also eligible for a pro-rated discount when converting to an “Essentials” subscription.
  • Advanced Brokerage Import:
  • StockMarketEye 5.5 offers a new, “advanced” way to import investment accounts into StockMarketEye. We’ve partnered with a financial data aggregator, Yodlee, to provide access to 2000+ brokerages in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Europe, South Africa and more.
  • Our brokerage import feature now supports both the existing “direct connect” import method and the new Advanced Brokerage Import method. We also continue to support importing from standard financial data files such as QIF files and OFX files, as well as files in our own CSV file format.
  • The Advanced Brokerage Import is exclusively available to users with an “Essentials” subscription.
  • The Total Return Report:
  • StockMarketEye 5.5 adds a new report called the Total Return report. While the current Gain/Loss report will show you the capital appreciation/loss on trades, the Total Return report shows a holding’s gain/loss combined with any distributions (i.e. dividends) received.
  • The Total Return report is exclusively available to users with an “Essentials” subscription.
  • The Allocation Report Improvements:
  • The Allocation report has been updated in StockMarketEye 5.5 to include support for viewing allocations based on:
  • Sectors
  • Industries
  • Security Types
  • Market Caps
  • The report also now includes a toggle switch on each section for including or excluding the Cash balance from the report.
  • The enhancements to the Allocation report are available in both “Standard” and “Essentials” subscriptions.
  • Enhanced Transaction Editing:
  • When editing a transaction, it is now possible to change the transaction’s Type to be any of the 25+ transaction types, rather than just one of the related types. The new option tells StockMarketEye to match buys and sells only from their original Portfolio.
  • We’ve also added an option to the Gain/Loss report to exclude any items in the report generated by “Shares Out” transactions. Often, “Shares Out” transactions are just transfers between accounts so should not generate a gain/loss. This option is available in the Gain/Loss report for both individual Portfolios and Portfolio Groups.

New in StockMarketEye 4.2.7 (Apr 16, 2018)

  • Performance optimizations to fix freezing and sluggishness.
  • All former Google Finance tickers from “LON:” and “MUTF_UK:” should use historical quotes.
  • Upgrade internals on all platforms for stable 3rd party libraries.
  • Right align all date columns.
  • This version of StockMarketEye focuses on performance improvements and UK users who have found issues with Yahoo Finance ticker symbols.
  • A number of users have had performance issues with our last release, StockMarketEye v4.2.6. We’ve worked with many of them to narrow down the issue and find a solution. StockMarketEye 4.2.7 includes all of the performance improvements we’ve found and should run smoothly.
  • UK users have had problems converting some of their ticker symbols from Google Finance to Yahoo Finance ticker symbols due to data quality issues with the Yahoo Finance ticker symbols. To help those UK users who have ticker symbols that are not covered well by Yahoo Finance (this includes smaller securities and some funds), StockMarketEye 4.2.7 allows you to continue using Google Finance ticker symbols for UK based securities (i.e. tickers that begin with “LON:” and “MUTF_UK:”). Pricing (i.e. the “Last” column) will be end-of-day (EOD) closing price for these ticker symbols. This allows holdings to be priced correctly (although not live) and up-to-date market values to be calculated. StockMarketEye will use the currently still available EOD historical data from Google Finance for these symbols. As long as the historical data for these symbols is still available from Google Finance, this will be a viable option for “LON:” and “MUTF_UK:” ticker symbols. This also means that the chart data for these securities will come from Google Finance, which is a significant improvement for these smaller UK securities as the Yahoo Finance data can be quite poor.
  • Note that Google Finance ticker symbols will not appear in the symbol search results. But you can still add them – just ignore the warning that says the ticker symbol is unknown.

New in StockMarketEye 4.2.6 (Mar 30, 2018)

  • Removed GoogleFinance as a data provider except for markets that are not covered by Yahoo Finance – this includes, notably, Canadian and other non-US mutual funds. If you have Google Finance ticker symbols for these types of securities, you do not need to change them. This will work as long as the old Google Finance access point for these securities remains open.
  • Improved the charts and historical data retrieval for some UK, DE and CH securities which had inconsistent EOD data from Yahoo Finance.
  • Fix for dividends/yield values for UK stocks.
  • Fix for ROE and ROA being off by factor of 100.
  • Aligned calculation of TR for multi-lot holdings and partial sales with the IncomeTotal calculation.

  • Each category shows the total of the investment positions it contains. You can use categories (and sub-categories) to group your investments based on currency, sector, over/underweight, or any criteria you choose.
  • As each category has its own currency, categories are a great way to group investments of the same currency together or to track the value of your investments in a different currency.
  • You can read more about Investment Categories in our User's Guide.
