  • Mainly TV-Browser 4.2.7 fixes bugs of the previous version to make it even more reliable.
  • Besides that it also bring new features, for instance TV-Browser will now automatically keep Reminders for programs for which the start time has changed by a couple of minutes during a data update.

New in TV-Browser 4.2.6 (May 9, 2022)

  • TV-Browser 4.2.5 contained bugs that caused existing Reminders not to be imported and filter highlightings not be loaded at the start of TV-Browser. Therefor TV-Browser 4.2.6 fixes those bugs.
  • If you want to import your existing Reminders make sure to select the settings of TV-Browser 4.2.4 or earlier to import the settings from.
  • If you don't use Reminders or filter highlightings you don't need to update from TV-Browser 4.2.5 to 4.2.6.

New in TV-Browser 4.2.5 (May 7, 2022)

  • TV-Browser 4.2.5 allows to highlight programs with filters completely independent from plugins. It's also possible to exclude program from Favorites much easier since more than one search term can be added in an easy way to exclusions.
  • Of course bugs were also fixed especially the saving of the data has been changed to make sure that complete loss of the data is now highly unlikely.

New in TV-Browser 4.2.4 (Dec 20, 2021)

  • First I would like to use this chance to thank all donors, without the donations TV-Browser could not be provided in the current form with such a big channel variety!
  • TV-Browser 4.2.4 is the newest stable version of TV-Browser and is now available. The development for this version was targeted at finding bugs. Therefor TV-Browser 4.2.4 is not only more stable than the previous version but also produces less CPU load under certain conditions.
  • Additional to fixing bugs TV-Browser 4.2.4 also contains improvements. It's now possible to import the definitions of the Android favorite searches with the AndroidSync function. Once a favorite search was imported TV-Browser 4.2.4 is able to search for those favorites without the need of synchronizing them with AndroidSync. Apple devices with ARM CPU are now natively supported so that TV-Browser 4.2.4 runs with Java for ARM CPUs.

New in TV-Browser 4.2.3 (May 10, 2021)

  • A new version of TV-Browser is available now. TV-Browser 4.2.3 comes with a lot of new features and of course bugs were also fixed.
  • Especially useful is the new tvb:// protocol, it allows to create links which when clicked sends commands to TV-Browser. It works locally on your computer without any information being send over the internet. After installing TV-Browser and starting it once, you should be able to click on tvb:// protocol links and your web browser should ask you if you want to open the link. To try it you can use this example: tvb://show/pluginUpdate=filter, it will open the plugin download dialog and show a list of all plugins with filter in it's name or the java class name.

New in TV-Browser 4.2 (Sep 28, 2019)

  • Today we can finally release TV-Browser 4.2. The release took a little longer because the changes to Java 11 had to be tested to make sure everything works fine.
  • Windows users will now get a new form of TV-Browser packages. It's no longer needed to install a JRE on the system because TV-Browser will be shipped with it's own JRE that only contains the needed functions, so it's much smaller than a system wide JRE.
  • For users with other operation systems all keeps the same, just that TV-Browser now needs a Java 11 JRE to run.

  • TV-Browser 4 now need a Java 8 runtime environment, but that also means that TV-Browser now uses the new functions of Java 8, which make TV-Browser 4, even though it has more features, smaller than the previous version.

  • TV-Browser 3.4.4 fixes bugs of the previous versions. New channels are now searched automatically on a regular base and changes will be shown directly, broken filters are easily recognizable, separators can be added to the channel list and the search contains a new type "Whole term" which allows to search for whole words and term without finding programs with parts of the term. The first day of the week is now configurable.
  • TV-Browser 3.4.4 will probably be the last version that supports Java 6, the next version will depend on Java 8.

  • TV-Browser 3.4.2 mostly fixes bugs of the previous version. Additionally you will get the improvement that you will be able to ex- and import your channel list, it's also possible to load the channel list from the Android synchronisation. This version contains a workaround for users of Ubuntu for a problem that caused TV-Browser to freeze when GTK+ is selected as theme. This version also comes with the new TV-Browser icon.

  • Date separators were added for better orientation in the program lists of the plugins. Bugs of the previous version were fixed and the third party libraries were updated. This can cause older plugins to cease function. Updates are available for plugins that are provided by the TV-Browser team.

  • TV-Browser speeds up. Older versions of TV-Browser were heavily troubled with a huge number of Favorite programs, so it went a little bit on the slow side. That's an issue of the past with TV-Browser 3.2.1. The speed when using with tabs was also improved and you can use the tree view in a tab. TV-Browser 3.2.1 can join two channels that are side by side in the program table if the data provider enabled it or the channels have separate time restrictions. TV-Browser 3.2.1 also fixes bugs, one severe that could have destroyed your filter component list when a plugin was deleted or disabled was also fixed.
  • Data provider can add more than one country to a channel, so for instance the channel 3sat can be filtered in TV-Browser for Germany and Swiss also beside the current filter for Austria.

  • Until now plugins had to open their own windows to provide you with informations but since TV-Browser 3.2 they are able to show that information in the main window of TV-Browser. So you will get a far better accessibility to you're favorites, reminders and all other plugins that support the tabs. Plugins can also show a completely other program presentation than the program table like the Timeline plugin does.
  • The program info now has an information and navigation bar, you will find many new predefined filters for your convenience and some other improvements. TV-Browser 3.2 also fixes bugs for better stability. Worked on better Persona support to make TV-Browser look gorgeous on every operating system. Note that the Personas are now disabled by default and TV-Browser 3.2 will take the font sizes from your system settings for better accessibility.

  • The program table now has Tooltips. The display teh following information depending on the position of the mose cursor:

  • The date selection is done by using a calendar instead of a list (customizable via Options).
  • Format information:
  • The format information in the program table can separately be activated or deactivated. For instance you can hide the icon for HD-Shows globally, if you're not interested in this information.
  • Search results in programinfo:
  • You can highlight search results in the programinfo of favorite shows (customizable color). On top of that you can switch to the previously displayed show like using a web browser.
  • Shortened titles:
  • Very long titles are reduced to a length of two lines by default in the program table. The number of displayed rows is customizable.
  • "Hiding" short shows:
  • For shows with very short duration, by default no more program description is displayed in the program table (meaning: the description is empty). By doing this, news and weather broadcasts etc. no longer take focus away from the rest of the shows.
  • More shows in the tray:
  • The contextmenu of the Tray-Icon by default lists more shows. On top of that the menu is much better readable thanks to Anti-Aliasing.
  • Transparency of shows:
  • Plugins have the possibility of setting the transparency of a show, depending on its importance.
  • Balloon-Tipps:
  • Plugins can show Balloon-Tipps on the TV-Browser Tray-Icon.
  • More Marked Shows:
  • If shows with the same starting time are marked, all of them are displayed in the same window instead of opening a new window for each one.
  • Usability:
  • Program table nudging:
  • If the program table is "nudged" (i.e. press, drag and release), it scrolls in the dragged direction by itself (until the individual end of the table or until the next mouse click).
  • Scrolling using the middle mouse button:
  • You can scroll in the program table just like in a web browser: Press the middle mouse button and drag the mouse in the intended direction.
  • Install plugins via Drag'N'Drop:
  • Plugin files are easily installed into the program table via Drag'N'Drop.
  • Confirmation dialog when exiting:
  • When exiting the program a dialog box appears asking the user if the exit command was intentional. By doing so, exiting on accident can be prevented.
  • Doubleclick middle mouse button:
  • In addition to the current mouse click methods, an action to the middle mouse button doubleclick can be assigned.
  • User commentary appaering with marked shows:
  • A user generated commentary can be added to marked shows. It will be shown in the marked show window. For example: You can remind yourself which segment of a lifestyle show you wanted to see.
  • More filtercomponents:
  • The filtering possibilities have been significantly increased:
  • Age restriction (if there is an age restriction found in the show description). For example it can be used to create a tv scheme suitable for children.
  • Relative datespans, meaning: reading like "Shows for the next three days"
  • Type of program, meaning Music, Sports, Movie etc.
  • Ratings using ratingsplugin
  • Keyboard operating:
  • A whole lot of keyboardshortcuts are available in the program table, for easier scrolling, navigating to following days etc.
  • Languages:
  • The userinterface can also be displayed in danish or slovakian.
  • Plugins:
  • NotifyOSD:
  • Using Ubuntu marked shows can be displayed utilizing NotifyOSD.
  • Growl for Windows:
  • The messaging system "Growl" is supported under Windows aswell.
  • Station specific commands:
  • Plugins can add commands to context menus of tv stations, not just the context menu of shows. These commands are available in the context menu of the station selection as well as the context menu of the individual station titles.
