  • All power users, long time customers and users with many or large Spaces will benefit most from the new performance improvements. Internally, we have optimized the threading processes, which allows for more parallel jobs.
  • Various code updates (CBFS/Virtual File System), security updates and a few bug fixes come along with this release. All other functions and features remain unchanged.

  • New:
  • New Groups feature, allows users to invite pre-defined Groups into a Space. Groups can be created and managed by the account manager in the TeamDrive administration console, without knowing in which Space the groups are used. With such a split management, we maintain the “zero knowledge” principle of TeamDrive.
  • A tutorial video explains this new feature.
  • Support of anonymous groups added (protected against changes to disclose a member list)
  • Auto-remove deleted users from Spaces. TeamDrive clients will now automatically remove Space members, if their user account is deleted in the TeamDrive system. Our “zero knowledge” principle will maintain with this automatic removal of deleted users from Spaces.
  • WebApps (WebClient) will now auto-accept the first Space invitation to make onboarding of new users more intuitive and simpler, when they are invited and using a guest license (restricted to one Space).
  • We changed the default setting for new Spaces to “Web access enabled”. Account managers can disable web access for their users or require 2FA (2 factor authentication) for web access if increased security is desired.
  • Improvements:
  • Automatic address book updates will now only list current space members
  • Added a field on the Space’s information page to display how much storage is used on the server for the individual Space.

  • We added a new function to view a list of "recent files" which where received from other members. The listview of "recent files" can be selected via a main menu just below "active" and "inactive" spaces.
  • Furthermore in the Settings (advanced) of the TeamDrive Client software you can define if "recent files" shall present a flat view or a grouped view (grouped in spaces)
  • We added a selection option in Settigs (Space) to define what will be displayed at spaces "overview". The space overview (indicated with a yellow ring on a Space, in active apaces) always shows the latest activities of things happened in a space and it can bow show either the activities or the lasted received files.

  • Problem:
  • In some cases users could not join/activate or enter a Space. In these cases the Space activation stopped and never finished.
  • In rare cases the synchronisation just stopped in existing Spaces.
  • Resolution recommendation:
  • Users who discover such problem should perform a full restore of that Space after they updated to the latest release. Such rejoin from scratch may take a few hours and will correct previous errors.
  • Space Information (i) -> Restore -> Advanced -> rejoin from scratch

New in TeamDrive 4.7.1 Build 3011 (Aug 5, 2021)

  • Local Encryption for TeamDrive Clients, configurable for Account Admins (Managers). This feature requires an additional security layer for each user named "SuperPin")
  • SuperPin, an additional long password for each user which is needed for the local encryption. If that feature is used, a password reset requires the SuperPin! TeamDrive employee can no longer issue a password reset (no more temporary passwords possible)
  • Space Level Security settings. The security requirements are an extension to the existing "Web Access Allowed" security setting for a space. The new settings are "Local Encryption", "Application Protection" and "Two Factor Authentication".
  • Introducing unique file URL´s to be shared among Space members (these URL´s will support our upcoming MS Teams Plugin)

New in TeamDrive 4.6.2 Build 2109 (Jun 27, 2018)

  • Desktop (Windows and Mac):
  • Virtual Spaces on a mounted network drive. We now offer the feature that users can comfortably work on a network drive and keep all space data in the Cloud. This fulfills 2 objectives. One, it allows users to be an active member in many spaces with hundreds of GB, without occupying local storage. Second, it will help companies to comply with GDPR request to keep all content central and disallow local storage of data with personal information.
  • We call this new feature "beta release" as we need to get more widely feedback. It will not install automatically, but can be selected during the installation.
  • To use the new feature, a third party component need to be installed on the client computer. On windows it is called "CBFS Callback File System", a commercial more reliable subsitute for FUSE. On Mac we install FUSE. These components allow TeamDrive to mount a virtual volume. On Windows we mount volume t: as a default TeamDrive volume. On Mac it will be a remote volume.
  • When installing or updating to 4.6.2 the user can select the installation of "CBFS Callback File System" or "FUSE".
  • In the Client settings the user can define the default Space path to "Mount Virtual Spaces". This will work for new Spaces and accepting new Invitations. Existing Spaces need to be switched manually. Space -> i (information) -> Space Path -> Mount Space to Virtual File System"
  • Each virtual Space will create a hidden cache folder. We will make the Cache Path user selectable in a future version. Currently the Virtual Space cache is in the Application Data folder (TeamDrive). But this may result on Windows into problems with the path length. To avoid this path length problem, this will be the next problem to fix for us.

  • The long awaited "soft-locking" feature is finally here! The "soft-locking" feature is comprised of two components: "auto-locking" and "manual locking".
  • Auto-locking generally occurs when a file is opened and edited.
  • Manual locking occurs when a user manually locks a file.
  • Locked files are communicated to all Space members using at least a 4.2.1 client as well as a compatible server. Manually locked files can be unlocked by other Space members when necessary, hence the term "soft-locking"
