New in TinyCAD 2.70.00 Build 248 Beta (Nov 10, 2009)

  • This release now fixes all known hierarchical symbol netlist problems.
  • A new netlist format has been added to support a Linux program called simply PCB.
  • Problems with displaying extra parameters added to symbols from the schematic editor have been fixed.
  • SQLite3 format libraries are now included in the install. Microsoft JET format libraries (.mdb) are still included also. Either may be used.
  • Various problems associated with power symbols not getting connected together correctly in the netlist are now fixed.

New in TinyCAD 2.60.01 (Nov 10, 2009)

  • Just a couple of minor bug fixes. Fix the library so that the single image libraries work again. Fix the font on dialogues for i18n.

New in TinyCAD 2.60.00 (Nov 10, 2009)

  • The following features have been added:
  • You can now have heterogeneous symbols.
  • To make a symbol that can have a different outline for each of the different parts per package, change its type to heterogeneous.
  • Do this from the "Library" menu whilst you are editing the symbol. You can only change the type if you have just a single part per package.
  • Once changed, select the number of parts per package (again from the "Library" menu). You can then draw any outline you like for each of the different symbols.
  • You can show the power pins on a symbol.
  • If you have a symbol with hidden power pins (e.g. 01 in the 74TTL library). Then you can show the power pins of that symbol, and make manual connections to the power pins instead of using the automatic connection system.
  • A new pin shape
  • You can now have a pin with a name above the pin's line rather than at the end of the pin. This is mainly so that when you show the power pins you can connect to them easily.
  • Bug fixes
  • There have been quite a few bug fixes over the last few months, the most significant are:
  • I have fixed some bugs around the delete, so TinyCAD should not crash when you delete objects.
  • Symbols should now stay put between loading and saving, meaning you should get fewer disconnected nets.
  • Switch to Unicode
  • Internally TinyCAD has changed from an 8-bit ASCII application to a 16-bit Unicode application. For most users this will not have an immediate effect, but it will TinyCAD more i18n compliant in future.
