What's new in TOCR Viewer Pro (formerly Transym OCR) 5.0

  • OCR engine changes:
  • TOCR 5.0 is more accurate than TOCR 4.0.
  • TOCR now supports PDF
  • TOCR now returns extra font information (Normal, Italic and approximate font name).
  • Results can be returned in the Rich Text Format.
  • There are 9 colour conversion algorithms to select
  • The input image can now be returned after processing by TOCR
  • API Documentation is now written in C, however the API itself is still language independent.
  • TOCR now supports the additional characters for Greek, Cyrillic and Eastern Europe. You can download the new character map for Version 5 here.
  • Windows versions prior to Windows Vista are no longer supported

New in TOCR Viewer Pro (formerly Transym OCR) 4.0 (Jan 30, 2013)

  • OCR engine changes:
  • TOCR 4.0 is more accurate than TOCR 3.2 or 3.3. This should be especially noticeable on images with low character counts such as a single line or a single field.
  • 64 bit TOCR variant added. TOCR 4.0 is available in both a 32 bit and 64 bit variant. Installing TOCR 4.0 on a 64-bit machine will install both the 32-bit and 64-bit TOCR variant.
  • TOCR 4.0 64-bit is on average faster than TOCR 3.2 and 3.3 in all 4 speed options on our test data and hardware.
  • TOCR 4.0 64-bit is 33.8% faster than TOCR 3.2 and 3.3 using speed option 0, and 14.2% faster using speed option 3.
  • TOCR 4.0 32-bit is around 35% slower than TOCR 4.0 64-bit in each speed mode.
  • API Documentation is now written in VB.NET, however the API itself is still language independent.
  • TOCR now supports the additional characters: superscript 1, 2 and 3 ( ¹ ² ³ ), the trade mark symbol: and per mille sign: ‰ -- You can download the new character map for Version 4 here.
  • Viewer program changes:
  • Viewer is now written in VB.NET instead of VB5.
