  • Support for the S6900 has been added.
  • When image files are moved, copied, or deleted in ViewNX 2, sidecar files associated with the image files are now also moved, copied, or deleted along with image files. However, when image files are moved or copied to destinations outside of ViewNX 2, such as the desktop, sidecar files associated with the images files will not be moved or copied accordingly.

  • Support for the COOLPIX S6800, S6700, S3600 has been added.
  • The White Balance section in the Adjustments palette has been changed, or support added, as follows:
  • An Auto 1 option has been added.
  • ViewNX 2 adjusts white balance for colors similar to those captured with a camera's Auto 1 (Normal) * white balance setting. However, only RAW images captured with the following cameras are supported:
  • The D7000 and later DSLR cameras
  • Advanced cameras with interchangeable lenses
  • The COOLPIX A as well as the COOLPIX P7100 and later COOLPIX cameras that support recording in the NRW format. Auto white balance setting with cameras that do not offer an Auto 2 (Keep warm lighting colors) option
  • Adjustment units available with the Tint option have been changed from 1 to 0.01 for more precise specification.
  • The adjustment range for the Fine Adjustment option has been expanded from 4132-7042 to 2500-7042 when Direct sunlight is selected.
  • Adjustment using the Fine Adjustment and Tint options is now possible when Recorded Value, Auto 1, Auto 2, or Underwater is selected.
  • A Switch over to second slot after transfer option has been added to the Preferences panel in Nikon Transfer 2. When this option is checked, a confirmation dialog asking whether or not files recorded to the second memory card should be transferred will be displayed after files recorded to the first memory card are transferred. This function is available only when a camera with two memory card slots is connected to the computer using MTP/PTP (PTP).
  • The AF Noise Reduction option in the File menu more effectively reduces the sound of lens drive with autofocusing

  • Modifications that apply to both the Windows and Macintosh versions:
  • Support for the COOLPIX L620 has been added.
  • GeoTag in the toolbar has been changed to Map. In addition, GPS data and GPS information have been renamed Location data.
  • The following support has been added for Motion Snapshots:
  • Slideshow function
  • When Short Movie Creator or Movie Editor is selected from the Open With... option in the File menu, users can now choose Movies (MOV) and JPEG images or Movies (MOV). However, to choose one of the above, Short Movie Creator or Movie Editor must be registered in Open With > Register... > Open with Application beforehand.
  • An Add/Edit Directional option has been added to the Map toolbar.
  • A Merge Altitude Log with Track Log... option has been added to the Log Matching item. A location log saved with a camera, mobile phone, or other commercially available satellite navigation system receiver capable of acquiring location data can now be merged with an altitude (barometer) and depth log* saved using a Nikon digital camera.
  • Altitude (barometer) and depth logs are recorded by Nikon digital cameras equipped with barometers or depth gauges.
  • Additional modifications to the Windows version:
  • Installation of QuickTime is no longer required.
  • Frame rate options of 50 fps and 60 fps are now available for movies created using the Create Movie... item in the Nikon Movie Editor File menu and output at a size of 1280 x 720 (16:9) and 1920 x 1080 (16:9). However, the following two requirements apply when 50 fps or 60 fps is selected for Frame rate: Only movies have been added to the storyboard (no still images) / An option other than MOV (MotionJPEG/Linear PCM) is selected for File type.

New in ViewNX 2.7.6 (Jun 12, 2013)

  • Information for lenses used with the Auto Distortion function under File & Camera Information in the Metadata palette has been updated.
  • The destination for the link when the NIKON IMAGE SPACE website is opened from the NIKON IMAGE SPACE area in the Browser palette has been updated from my Picturetown to NIKON IMAGE SPACE.

New in ViewNX 2.7.5 (May 7, 2013)

  • When RAW images captured with a D600 running C firmware Ver. 1.01 at an Image area setting of DX (24×16) 1.5× and any Active D-Lighting setting other than Off were opened in Capture NX 2, a bright (whitish) diagonal line was visible. This issue has been resolved.

New in ViewNX 2.7.4 (Mar 15, 2013)

  • Support for the D7100 has been added.
  • An issue that prevented images saved in JPEG format with Capture NX 2 Ver. 2.3.0 or 2.3.1 from opening in ViewNX 2 has been resolved.
  • The correct lens name is now be displayed for still images captured with a digital-SLR camera and the AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR. However, in the following cases, the lens name displayed will indicate that it is a G-type lens in Metadata on the Edit palette: Images captured with a Nikon 1-series camera and the FT-1 mount adapter; Movies recorded using a digital-SLR camera

New in ViewNX 2.7.2 (Feb 19, 2013)

  • Support for the COOLPIX P520, COOLPIX S9500, COOLPIX S9400, COOLPIX S5200, COOLPIX S31, COOLPIX AW110, COOLPIX L820, and COOLPIX L27 has been added.
  • With the renewal of Nikon's image storage and sharing service, my Picturetown (launched as NIKON IMAGE SPACE on January 28, 2013), ViewNX 2 has been modified to provide collaboration with NIKON IMAGE SPACE.
  • The my Picturetown tab in the Browser palette has been changed to a NIKON IMAGE SPACE tab.
  • Upload to my Picturetown... and Share on my Picturetown... options under the Web Service item in the toolbar have been changed to Upload to NIKON IMAGE SPACE... and Share on NIKON IMAGE SPACE....
  • The my Picturetown option under the Web Service item in the File menu has been changed to NIKON IMAGE SPACE.

New in ViewNX 2.7.1 (Jan 15, 2013)

  • Support for the D5200, and Nikon 1 models J3 and S1 has been added.
  • The following issues with movies recorded using the Nikon 1 V2 with White Balance set to Underwater have been resolved.
  • Thumbnails for movies transferred with Nikon Transfer 2 using a card reader are not displayed in the thumbnail list area.
  • When Metadata is selected from the Edit palette, information other than that in File Info 1 is displayed.

  • When images to which voice messages recorded using the Leave a message and Leave a reply options built into the COOLPIX S30, have been attached are transferred with Nikon Transfer 2 Ver. 2.3.1, the two voice messages are transferred as a single audio file. The audio file will be created with the same file name as the image, but with the extension “.wav”.

  • When images are transferred from a mass storage device with multiple media inserted with Disconnect automatically after transfer in the Nikon Transfer 2 Preferences panel checked, all recognized media are automatically disconnected after transfer.

  • When printing images with Print As: in the Printer Setup dialogue box set to Full Page and the Print Information box checked, images were printed with excessive margins, regardless of the options selected for printing in the Advanced Print Information Settings dialogue box. This issue has been resolved.

  • An issue that caused ViewNX to freeze when a thumbnail image was selected with specification of certain profiles for the operating system's monitor profile was resolved.
  • An issue that prevented accurate display of flash compensation value for images captured using advanced wireless lighting was corrected.
  • Camera information was not accurately displayed for images captured with the hybrid vibration reduction function set to On (hybrid) with applicable COOLPIX-series cameras. This issue was resolved.

New in ViewNX 1.0.3 (Dec 5, 2007)

  • A thumbnail of the first frame of .MOV, .AVI, .WMV, and MPEG-1 movie files recorded by Nikon digital cameras, or created with a Nikon application, is now displayed in Thumbnail Grid mode. In addition, an icon indicating that the file is a movie is displayed at the bottom of movie thumbnails.
  • Playback of .MOV, AVI, WMV, and MPEG-1 movie files recorded by Nikon digital cameras, or created with a Nikon application is now possible in the image view area.
  • When images are selected and drag and drop operation is performed holding right mouse button down, a menu displaying Copy Here, Move Here, and Cancel options is now displayed at the destination.
  • Images displayed in Full Screen mode can now be moved to the Recycle Bin by pressing the DELETE key on the keyboard.
  • New Folder, Delete, and Output (Convert Files�, Email�, Print�, SlideShow�) options have been added to the Thumbnail area context menu* in Thumbnail Grid and Image Viewer modes.
  • Delete, Output (Convert Files�, Email�, Print�), Next, and Previous options have been added to the Image View area context menu* in Image Viewer mode.
  • A Copy Camera Settings option has been added to the Camera Settings palette context menu*. This option copies camera settings to the computer�s clipboard.
  • Items in the Camera Settings tab of the Camera Settings palette have been rearranged for increased clarity. Camera Settings: File, Camera, Exposure, Flash, Image Settings, Picture Control, Optimize Image, GPS. However, as camera settings may differ depending upon the selected image file, all of the items listed above may not be displayed.
  • When multiple images are selected in the Thumbnail area of Thumbnail Grid mode, the total file size of all selected images is now displayed in the status bar.
  • An Eject option has been added to the Folder palette context menu*.
  • When the Folder palette is displayed, you can now use the TAB key to switch between the Folder palette and Thumbnail area.
  • Operation has been changed with multiple display systems so that Full Screen mode is now displayed on the primary monitor.
  • When image files with which IPTC information had been embedded using a third-party application, such as Adobe Photoshop CS3, were opened in ViewNX, ViewNX quit unexpectedly. This issue has been resolved.
  • An issue that prevented proper installation of ViewNX to systems to which certain software had been installed has been resolved.
  • When certain software was installed after ViewNX had been installed, ViewNX failed to start properly. This issue has been resolved.
  • Compensation to correct for loss of marginal lumination is now automatically applied to RAW images captured with the D3 and the following lenses. -AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED -AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f / 2.8D IF-ED
  • When camera settings for images captured with the PC Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D were displayed, �G� was sometimes displayed in the lens name despite the fact that this is a D-type lens. This issue has been resolved.
