New in Watch My Budget LITE 2.26.0.0 (Jul 29, 2014)

  • Suggested Tasks window guides you on what to do next - click on any task to see further details in the Help.
  • For a budget Without Tracking (previously called Without History) payments are no longer restricted to future dates. This makes it easier to plan payments and cash flow from the current pay period.
  • New setting Advisor/Agency Name gets printed at the top left of each report.
  • File menu lists the last 5 budget files that you opened.
  • Cash flow View has two different ways of summarising payments: Running account balances or accumulated Income-Expenses, synchronized with the appropriate graph.
  • Carry-overs are now updated when previously-subtracted payments are re-categorised or split, one-off payments are not subtracted by default, and payments can be un-subtracted.
  • Printer and report settings, including a custom title, can now be changed while previewing. Only relevant settings are shown on the main form and when previewing, making it clear what you can change.
  • Improvements in the debt and asset calculators, and calculated interest can now be automatically transferred to separate categories.
  • Cash flow running balances use account balances by default but the right-click menu allows you to change to show running totals starting from zero.
  • A new Delay All Uncommitted payments function is useful when tracking actual payments, to move carry-overs which build up after the Track-To date to after the next income, then see what you can afford before then.
  • Each category group has a color that is used in income and expense graphs. Now, if color coding is switched on, these colors are also shown in cash flows and in lists of payments and budget items.
  • Budget vs History can now calculate and update transfer budget items, based on recent actual transfers.
  • To reduce unnecessary generation of payments when editing a budget item, the Regeneration checkbox is not automatically ticked until you make a change to the item.
  • When regenerating payments after a budget change and adjusted payments are found, there is now an option to only regenerate after the latest adjusted payment.
  • Improved reporting if there are problems opening a budget.
  • For a budget Without Tracking old payments are no longer cleared automatically and account balance calculations use old payments (if there is a balance date), but the payments are still hidden. It can be easier to manage cash flow With Tracking even if not tracking actual payments: to plan from the start of a pay period and to view planning done previously.
  • The Clear Old Payments function automatically updates account balances to the new start date but (by default) does not clear debt and asset payments or balances.
  • A sample bank qif file is available in the File menu, for trial importing with SampleBudgetKR.
  • The cash flow right-click menu has settings to show all categories or all with a non-zero budget, instead of only categories with payments within the selected accounts and date range.
  • A default account can be set for adding payments in a cash flow spreadsheet.
  • When editing seasons for a budget With Tracking, the seasons can be set from actual payments over the previous 12 months.
  • Situation now calculates Future spending since the Track-To date (for a budget With Tracking) and shows accumulated long carry-overs.
  • Once a payment has been Subtracted from a carry-over, that carry-over is automatically adjusted (if it still exists) when you later change or delete the payment. Subtraction from carry-overs is more automatic, while editing payments or cash flow.
  • Pay Period View can show a daily cashflow (instead of a list of payments) and any period in Cash Flow View can be switched to show a daily cash flow. This is useful for entering payments manually or for planning daily payments from weekly budgeted amounts.
  • Cash flow spreadsheet functionality has been improved, including being able to type into empty cells to quickly add new payments or budget items.
  • In the forms for editing payments and budget items, the buttons have been moved to a function bar at the bottom, and now include a Delete button to delete while editing.
