  • We developed a new system to manage all the files used on a project. Now these files are all automatically reported in the Project Library and, in this way, they are easily accessible. You will just need a couple of clicks to find a file in the Library and use it on different pages.
  • NEW Project Optimization:
  • Now that you can manage the files linked to the project, you can also optimize its size. On Step 5, we added a new window you can use to analyze your project, create a backup copy of the resources you used - which is particularly useful if you need to move the project onto a new PC- as well as delete the files that are no longer connected to the website.   • NEW File Selection window:

  • A new preinstalled Object is now available in the library. Use the Portfolio Object to create a list of elements which can be displayed in dedicated customizable cards, and give your visitors the possibility of using filters and categories to search or organize the entries. In short, it’s perfect for presenting a portfolio of your best work and projects on your website.
  • Instalment payment via PayPal:
  • Give your online shop customers the possibility of paying by installments without interest or additional costs. We’ve integrated the PayPal “Buy Now Pay Later” service and a single click will be enough for you to activate it on your store. PayPal will take charge of the installment credit, while you will receive the whole amount right away.
  • Object Search:
  • The Object library becomes more and more rich in tools for completing your pages. A useful search filed is now available for you to immediately find the Object you are looking for: just type in the name and you’re ready to use it.
  • Videos for your Entry Page:
  • The Entry Page is a sort of cover giving the visitors the possibility to access its home page after a set amount of time or by clicking on a link: for example, you can use it to ask them to choose the language they want to visit your website in. You can now set it up using a video you have on your computer, as well as a video available on a specific URL or even on YouTube and Vimeo.
  • Google Analytics 4:

  • E-commerce: new Product Search Page:
  • You asked, we delivered: a new internal search engine for online stores that can help your clients quickly find the products they want. As of today, it's finally available!
  • The new Product Search Page not only includes the usual search bar, it also comes with filters to search by category, price range, new items, or items on sale. The results are then displayed through product sheets with all the necessary information: titles, short descriptions, images, prices, and the "Buy" button.
  • If you have a lengthy product catalog, this search page will be very helpful for your customers, and therefore for your sales too.
  • Working with the Product Search Page is very easy. You'll find it listed directly in the Site Map: from there, you can access its settings to customize it and insert it into the navigation menu. You can also choose to create a link to it: in the Link window, you'll find a new type of link created specifically for this purpose. In fact, you can create more than one link to the Product Search Page, one for each type of main category in your store.
  • If you find yourself managing a catalog with a large number of products, a search bar isn't just useful for your clients, it can also help you administer your own store. That's why we also added it to the toolbar inside WebSite X5.
  • E-commerce: optimized checkout:
  • As leading online stores know, sometimes changing a single detail can significantly increase sales.
  • That's why we've decided to update another crucial aspect of any store: the checkout process.
  • We optimized the checkout page in two major ways. First, we redesigned the process to better distinguish the registration, selecting a payment/shipping method, and order confirmation phases. We also overhauled the design and layout of the checkout pages in order to make them even more clear and user-friendly for clients placing orders.
  • Data protection:
  • As we all know by now, the GDPR has set forth requirements for handling data and security, which all websites must follow.
  • We already addressed this topic in previous updates, to make sure that websites created with WebSite X5 comply with current regulations. Now we're going a step further: we strengthened our methods for managing credentials and introduced a new procedure for resetting passwords, both of which improve our level of compliance with the GDPR.

  • Downloading the Pictures:
  • Your pictures won't all be uploaded at the same time when a page is displayed online: instead, each picture is loaded exactly when it is required. Pages are often quite long and need to be scrolled: having each picture uploaded exactly when it is needed reduces the time required for displaying a page and so improves the visitor's experience when visiting your website.
  • Built-in Graphic Editor:

  • Decide how you want visitors' comments to be displayed: you can decide whether they are to be displayed on each page and whether they must be listed in chronological order, or not.
  • Members' Area:
  • Your blog can be included in a members' area, just like any other website page. Use this feature if you want to create a private discussion group: you can set up registration and specify that people need a login and password to access your blog.

  • Now, you can apply a transition effect to the pictures and videos in your blog posts: the result will be more attractive!

  • WebSite X5 automatically copies the files linked to a project. By using copies, you avoid problems of deleted or moved files, you can extract resource files from the project and backup and import/export operations are faster.

  • The built-in browser, that displays local previews, uses the Chromium engine in place of Internet Explorer, which is installed on the PC, and it supports multi-threading.
  • Visual controls:
  • Work is even quicker and easier, thanks to the new visual controls for choosing files, fonts and set-tings.

  • You can now use widgets for customizing the header and footer in the template.

  • You now have more freedom and precision in creating a Custom Template, thanks to the greater freedom in aligning the site (with respect to the Browser window) and the navigation menu (with respect to the contents), as well as the minimum height of the contents and footer background.
  • SlideShow in HTML5:
  • Image galleries in HTML5 replace those in Flash, even for the Template's header and footer.

  • The Map's structure has been changed so that now the Home page can be treated like all the other pages in the website.

  • New methods of selecting pages have been added, to make working on the Map more efficient: you can hide all the pages directly from the menu, and you can make multiple selections of hidden and locked pages.

  • New graphic options make cell design more sophisticated: beveled corners, shadows, alignment, a background that adapts to the actual cell size etc. Touch compatibility for images:
  • Both movement and zoom effects, and image protection, are now handled in JavaScript, instead of Flash. This ensures greater compatibility on mobile devices and fully supports Touch technology.

  • New effects on mouseover have been added to give greater emphasis to the Images: enlargement, movement, overlaid image rotation etc.
  • Galleries in HTML5:
  • All the Image galleries now use HTML5, instead of Flash technology. New effects are now available, and Touch navigation is supported on mobile devices.

  • Buttons and boxes for the apps of all the major Social Networks (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.) can easily be included with the new Social Network Object. It's the best way to share content and increase a website's popularity.

  • The Guestbook has been enhanced with new features and has become an Object. Comment and vote management is available and the Captcha protection is now more efficient.

  • The ClearType rendering algorithm means anti-aliasing effects, applied to button labels in the Main Menu, improve the graphic quality.

  • The number of options for customizing Styles has been increased. The ShowBox window has new graphics and supports fade effects and Touch navigation on mobile devices.
  • Multi-language websites:
  • There is now greater freedom in creating multi-language websites: the pathname, previously specified for language-choice flags, has been replaced by a simple link.
  • Advertising messages:
  • More freedom for linking advertising messages, too: a pathname to a page is no longer required, and now adverts can be linked to a page in the website, a .PDF file, an external website, etc.
  • Blog:
  • As for the Guestbook, it is possible for specify the order in which readers' comments are displayed.
  • Data management:
  • Data submitted to websites can be collected and treated via e-mail, file or database. The various methods can now be configured in a single area, the new Data Management section. Data submission and collection methods are considered a property of the project, and not a Program setting.
  • Products Cards:
  • It is now possible to associate a link with a Product, and not just a path to a page, improving product presentation possibilities: a page in the website, a brochure in .PDF, etc. It is also possible to apply a fade effect on the various photographs of a Product.
  • E-commerce optimization and Rich Snippets:
  • Some fundamental information on the products (such as the Title, Description, Price and Photo) are inserted automatically in the page code, using microdata. Search engines can more easily recognize the products that are presented in the website, and they use this information to compose the descriptions (rich snippets) to display in the SERPs (search engine results pages).
