New in Yammer Desktop 0.7.40c (Dec 9, 2008)

  • Public and private groups. Keep your network noise level down with groups, accessible through the new "more" menu to the right of your tabs.
  • Follow users. When you mouse over a user's avatar, you'll see four new buttons: view thread, reply, follow user, and view user profile.
  • More secure login system. We've switched to a token-based system where you'll no longer need to enter your username and password into the desktop application. The first time you run the desktop app, you'll be prompted to enable the application through the Yammer website.
  • Reorder and remove tabs. Click and drag any tab to change its position; click the "x" on a tab to remove it from your tab set. Removing a tab does not delete it, and you can restore it to your set at any time via the "more" menu.
  • Switch between multiple accounts. If you're a member of multiple networks, you can now easily switch between them via the preferences panel (wrench icon in upper right)
  • Reduced minimum application width to 250 pixels.
  • Absolute timestamps. Carry over relative (2 hours ago) vs. absolute (6:30PM - Oct 5) timestamps preference from the web interface.
  • Improved handling links to users and tags, and special characters within messages.
  • Performance and memory improvements (including reduced CPU usage)
  • 0.7.40b Update: fix for international characters.
  • 0.7.40c Update: fix for blank avatars.
