New in windPRO 4.0.422 (Sep 7, 2023)

  • Redesigned Interface:
  • windPRO 4.0 introduces an update to the general look and feel of the entire windPRO suite. With a new ribbon-based main window tools, modules, and setups have been grouped together in relevant sections of windPRO:
  • Geo Data
  • Climate
  • Energy
  • Loads & Operation
  • Environment & Visual
  • Solar
  • System Integration
  • Tools
  • Favorites
  • You can mix and match your preferred tools and modules in a new Favorites tab which can be used across all your projects.
  • windPRO 4.0 also introduces a new modern interface with Dark and Light themes, automatically reflecting your Windows 10/11 preferences.
  • As an extra bonus we also include free access to Bing Maps aerial data for crisp, high-resolution background maps.
  • All in all, windPRO 4.0 makes life easier to use for both new and experienced users.
  • Curtailment Optimizer:
  • The new Layout Optimizer for finding the best turbine positions is now being widely used across many wind farm projects.
  • windPRO 4.0 takes optimization one step further with a new multi-dimensional optimization engine to automatically generate a curtailment strategy for maximizing yields while minimizing noise turbine-by-turbine.
  • Stay within noise limits with minimum production loss.
  • Optimize curtailments by the time of day, wind speed, direction, temperature, etc.
  • Output noise curtailment strategies that are verifiable in both DECIBEL and NORD2000.
  • Solar Optimizer:
  • SOLAR PV is a huge success! With more and more functionalities being included over time, windPRO 4.0 introduces a small redesign of the SOLAR PV module to better handle the many new features.
  • The Solar Optimizer has been strongly requested by users, so in windPRO 4.0 you can perform an LCOE/NPV/AEP optimization of row spacing, tilt azimuth, AC/DC ratio, and number of panels.
  • An Electricity Price Generator makes it possible to make even more accurate NPV optimizations by simulating the prices over time.
  • OPTIMIZE:
  • Steer the optimization away from expensive areas and gain a better trade-off between wind resources and costs by using Cost Maps. Load grid files into the Layout Optimizer as either CAPEX, OPEX, or ABEX to represent the cost correlated to e.g.:
  • Soil conditions
  • Water depths
  • Land purchasing costs
  • Access conditions
  • windPRO 4.0 also brings a power boost to the optimization engine with higher calculation speeds and the ability to optimize with wake constraints for both new and existing wind turbines. Select existing wind turbines from a layered list instead of a flat list for easier identification of separate layouts.
  • PARK:
  • Quantify losses due to temperature derating in high altitude/high-temperature environments.
  • TurbOPark included in Time-Varying calculations.
  • Higher fidelity curtailment loss attribution, allowing for multiple curtailment rules to be executed in the same timestep.
  • Finer resolution for sunrise/sunset curtailment rules.
  • Inclusion of Cost Maps in the Cost calculation.
  • SITE COMPLIANCE:
  • Downscaling with spectral correction of extreme winds
  • Including a new Offshore mode
  • Tropical Cyclone assessment
  • Directional tower loads to increase accuracy in LOAD RESPONSE
  • RESOURCE:
  • Improved calculation speed when using WAsP and Scaler on a multicore machine.
  • PERFORMANCE CHECK:
  • A new method for substituting disabled and/or missing periods of wind speed in Post Construction using the methodology from TR10.
  • New auto filter features for quickly cleaning SCADA data for 100s of turbines.
  • Seasonal and Diurnal historic power curves and/or Air Density correction for loss calculations
  • NEW T-RIX Complexity Tool:
  • Easily evaluate the complexity checks required by the upcoming TR6 revision.
  • HYBRID:
  • Support for variable tariffs with different prices for week days, time of day, weekends, holidays.
  • Environment:
  • NORD2000:
  • NORD2000 has been re-designed to look more familiar to DECIBEL. This makes it easier to switch between the two modules.

New in windPRO 3.6.366 (Mar 15, 2023)

  • BASIS:
  • Shapefile import - improved detection of the object description data inside the dbf file
  • Shapefile export now writes object descriptions as UTF-8. Shapefiles exported from windPRO containing non-ASCII characters in object descriptions will need to be re-exported from windPRO to be corrected to UTF-8
  • Fixed issue where duplicating a layer would change the sorting order of objects
  • Fixed issue with converting downloaded roughness area to lines
  • DECIBEL:
  • Fixed an error where the Worst frequency threshold was wrong in Finnish codes in the Main result table. The correct result was visible in the chart and associated table
  • Fixed issue where ground attenuation value would be printed for Swedish 2009, even when it's not used
  • Fixed issue where the dynamic isoline calculation didn't react to changes in noise modes
  • GLARE:
  • Fixed an issue of import/export from Excel
  • LOSS&UNCERTAINTY:
  • Fixed misleading text label in Flicker-curtailment calculation, when calculating with WTG-Receptor shutdown pairs
  • METEO:
  • Improved import of Meteo-40M logger files
  • Added a warning in Calibration setup if windPRO detects that there is a change in height in the logger for the same channel
  • Fixed error in calculating veer if one of the input direction signals had crossed north and the other had not
  • Fixed issue with Wind weibull parameters imported with 16 sectors being wrongly displayed
  • Fixed issue with faulty mean wind speed in the "Monthly means - statistics" introduced in the first windPRO 3.6 release
  • Fixed issue with a warning window appearing unnecessarily when visiting the Calibration tab after loading data
  • OPTIMIZE:
  • Improved the selection of existing WTGs by allowing layers to be selected. This is especially useful when selecting a user-defined start layout
  • Moved input field of Site to make room for German translation
  • Fixed issue where viewing the compare tab with a large number of turbines could cause an exception
  • Fixed issue where using an RSF file in Gauss-Krüger projection could make the optimizer believe there was no resource in the WTG area
  • PARK:
  • Fixed french translation error in Main report
  • PERFORMANCE CHECK:
  • Fixed issue where filtering by "Last Month" did not work
  • Added ability to aggregate 5-minute values to 10-minute resolution
  • Fixed issue where time series with varying one second offsets could cause recovery rate checks to fail
  • Fixed issue where WTG ID Column could not be selected when there was too many top lines in files
  • Fixed issue where signal values with non-breaking spaces could not be read properly
  • PHOTOMONTAGE:
  • Fixed issue where changing the camera FOV without opening the camera properties would cause the result to file to print a wrong FOV
  • RESOURCE:
  • Fixed bug where running a resource calculation with multiple masts with a scaler using an external flow file could throw an exception
  • Scripting:
  • Added ability to disable the use of TIN for an object. This is now an option in the importLayerFromFile method.
