Chronories is an app enabling users to keep their memories at hand, allowing them to jot down notes in a journal and also add additional info using the system’s logs.

Sometimes, you need to write down your activities to get a quick overview of what you’ve been up to during each day. The best course of action in such a situation is to use a diary.

Chronories will help you keep a daily journal and integrate various system information within each entry, so that you will be able to create a comprehensive report for that day.

Chronories also allows you to visualize which apps you used each day and for how long, your chat statistics, and even a history of all visited websites.

The Looks

Although the overall impression is quite professional, Chronories' interface is very simple, composed of only one window, that lets users access the calendar, various diagrams and also take notes. Browsing through dates is very easy and can be done with a single click.

The main window really looks like a diary page, making the program even more captivating. One other neat thing is that you can change the diary’s texture and, thus, you will actually be able to write in a wooden textured diary.

Aside from that though, there are no other memorable things regarding the interface, which is pretty standard, but easy to use.

The Works

Writing a diary entry is pretty easy and straightforward. You can write as much as you want about your daily experiences and issues, and access them at any time.

A fun thing is that you can actually choose an emoticon to express your current mood. I have to say that this is quite an original idea, one that I have never encountered while using similar apps.

Furthermore, one can write the interesting topics and visited places, making a daily diary entry for any memorable activities.

Another interesting feature is that Chronories will track your Mac's activity each and every day. This is simply great if you want to assess your exact daily computer usage.

Chronories can also keep track of your apps’ usage, so you can quickly and easily get an idea of which one is more useful to you. This may also be useful if you want to find out simple things, like how long you surf the internet or chat.

You can also receive weather updates from various dedicated websites. This feature creates a log with your local weather information, letting you see the predominant weather in your area for a certain day.

Not only that you can see the predominant weather in your area, but Chronories also allows you to include the local weather information in your diary entry.

Chronories also enables you to view how many mails you send on a daily basis. This feature can prove to be useful if you want to read your mails without having to open another app to do it.

Accessing the usage history for all installed web browsers is yet another valuable feature. Using it, you will be able to get a quick report of all visited websites, and also visualize how many times you accessed each site on a daily basis.

Chronories can also be used to visualize your iCal appointments, in order to see how many appointments you have each day, and easily manage them.

As I expected, Chronories will allow its users to do that and, as an extra, it will also help them set trends and musical preferences for a certain day.

Being able to also keep track of all photos taken using your Mac’s iSight each and every day is another Chronories highlight, a feature that will allow you to quickly examine all your captured shots without having to run an additional tool.

You can also add your own pictures by drag and drop, and you can preview these pictures right from the Chronories interface.

One other notable fact is that Chronories is capable of grabbing headlines from your RSS feeds and automatically add them to your diary. This will let you browse through all events you consider interesting each day right from within Chronories’ interface.

Chronories’ main functions can be accessed using its menu bar entry. Here you can set your current mood, make screen captures or use your iSight camera to take photos.

Based on the daily information grabbed from your system, Chronories automatically creates a set of diagrams which are very useful for users that want to visualize a contacts graph, the overall computer activity for a certain period or the most used applications.

The Good

Chronories offers a wide range of capabilities taking into account that it is a simple diary application.

The fact that it gives you the possibility to track your daily emails, the most used applications and the overall computer activity makes it a complete solution for anyone who wants to keep a detailed journal, filled with interesting and useful system and apps statistics.

The Bad

For the moment, you cannot add filters for the grabbed news feed entries. Adding such an option will allow Chronories’ users to pinpoint the subjects they find interesting and want to be added to their daily journal.

The Truth

Chronories is more than a simple diary, offering a lot of information about your system, the local weather, and your daily computer activity. Definitely worth a try.
