Cut, Copy and Paste really have been the Holy Trinity of human-computer interaction. Although we will not be talking about any religious figures, the liaison still stands strong, because in the world of computer data, these actions are paramount.
If we are to bring Cut/Copy-Pasting to the context of real life, one could compare this trinity to the transportation of goods by any means, and even to the transportation of people.
Information has to flow, goods need to be transported, and people have to travel. Cut/Copy-Paste, therefore, is an indispensable action in terms of computer data transfer.
The application we will be talking about is intuitively named Kopypasta. Its role is to simply store any piece of text that you previously cut or copied into a neat little window, thus letting one reuse copied text snippets as many times as needed.
Kopypasta is $0.99 and it can be installed through the App Store. Furthermore, the installation process will only take a few seconds and it will occupy only 287 KB of your hard disk space.
The Looks
Note that we are dealing here with an application featuring a very simple, straightforward interface. Kopypasta lives in your Mac's menu bar, so that it can be easily accessed. Its interface consists of a single popup-like window, where all your text snippets are kept.
Your stored information is separated by lines, which kind of gives it a student notebook look. The purpose of these lines is to separate the data you've previously cut or copied, thus easing your searches.
Below this window is Kopypasta's sole option, which you can toggle: “Start kopypasta at login”. Further below (besides the advertisement for a sister-application) there are the Tweet and Like buttons, and finally the Quit button. The obvious conclusion to be drawn here is that Kopypasta's interface is minimalistic, uncluttered, but also attractive.
The Works
Kopypasta's role should be clear by now. Its main function is to keep a record of your pasteboard, thus preventing your previously cut/copied texts, links, etc from being lost. To access this data again, simply click on the line corresponding to your cut/copied information, and it will be automatically re-added into your Mac's clipboard.
Another fact about Kopypasta is its ease of use. You cannot go wrong with this app, everything is crystal-clear. Unfortunately, the lack of features is felt when you want to clear the pasteboard. There is no option provided to perform this action. Consequently, your pasteboard may get a bit too crowded.
So, if you're ever frantically copy-pasting stuff, this tool may prove to be a real life-saver. Simply cut/copy as many items as you want and, after you've finished, check Kopypasta's window and get your stuff back and paste it anywhere you want.
As previously stated, Kopypasta's does not seem to have an 'empty pasteboard' feature. This could be a downside because you never want ALL your text strings of text that were cut/copied while using this app to be saved forever.
The Good
Secondly, the app's appealing look gets another positive remark. The black, transparent borders combined with the eye-catching line-separated table results in a good looking application, one that you'll enjoy using. Moreover, its ease of use and simplicity is another advantage. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and nothing more.
The Bad
The Truth
Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
