It's a well-known fact that women worry about their face and their weight. The number of women who are truly satisfied with their looks seems pretty small, since we always find something about our body that we feel the need to change. And most of the times, that thing is our weight...

I'm sure that all of you ladies out there have, at least once in your life, tried to keep a diet, either to lose some extra weight or to gain some. I'm not kidding; there are women who want to gain weight! The most annoying thing about diets is that each and every one of them makes you eat something you absolutely hate and, of course, among the restrictions you can expect to find your favorite type of food. Exercising and eating properly will bring you that perfect shape you've been dreaming of. Let's see how you can do that in your own manner with the help of FitLife.

FitLife is a full-featured diet and fitness monitoring application that will help you be in a perfect physical shape. FitLife is the perfect assistant for your diet and fitness program. It will record all your nutrition information and your fitness progress.

The first step when starting FitLife for the first time is to set your current weight information and the target values for the weight, percentage of body fat and for the body measures (forearms, biceps, thighs, hips, chest, neck, etc).

FitLife's main window displays the application menu that provides you with a great variety of features and the three tabs that will help you monitor your fitness progress every day: Energy intake and output, Fitness and Recipes.

The Energy intake window displays so much information about your nutrition that it may take a while for you to notice all the useful data provided by the program. First, you have the list of foods, which provides a great variety of aliments, from Baby Foods to Fast Foods and from Legume Products to Sweets. The Food categories are mostly based on American products, but if you are not aware of the American eating habits, you can configure your own food groups and items specifying their corresponding calories intake.

For each food type, FitLife displays a chart of the fats, sugar and proteins it contains. By double clicking on the chosen food type, you can select the amount and add it to the appropriate meal. The meals that FitLife puts at your disposal are the usual breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as three snacks.

In the lower part of FitLife's main window, you have the Calendar and Notes panel, that you can choose to hide at any time. You can see the actual calendar, which by default shows the current month with different coloring rules for sport events and gym as well as a list of the daily activities and your notes for the day.

The Energy Expenditure helps you calculate your output calories of the sport activities that you planned for the day, permanently showing you the daily limit of consumed energy and keeping track of your progress towards that ideal weight.

The Fitness window displays various training activities grouped by the body parts that they exercise and for each selected fitness exercise a small window opens showing a detailed description of the activity and an explanatory image.

The Good

The producers of FitLife seem to have thought of all the possible details involved in monitoring a diet and a fitness program professionally. Because of that, to the average user, FitLife's application window may seem pretty crowded and difficult to understand. Don't worry, the developers at RoubecSoftware found a solution to this problem by creating various video animations to explain all the important features of FitLife: Search food illustration, Adding food illustration, Illustration of moving sport activity, Planning exercises illustration, Illustration of adding/changing weight, Illustration of data transfer over the internet and many others.

The Bad

A small thing that the producers seem to have missed is the text displayed in the Help title bar 'Napoveda FitLinie', which has probably remained like that from the original Czech version of FitLife.

The Truth

At 40$, FitLife can't exactly be considered cheap, but if you are really interested in living a healthy life, with the right nutrition and fitness program, then this application is worth the expense. The 30-day trial version of FitLife only allows you to create 30 entries in the main table, so it can't be used for more than evaluation purposes.

Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
