The television business is growing faster and faster and is expanding in every possible direction. If you look over the past 10 years you will see that the growing technology gives the opportunity to every market to develop new ways to expend their horizons... and that happened with television, too.
Not long ago, we had only a few television channels to watch to; now, the channel numbers are increasing every day. Now we have sports channels, news, movies, adult channels, cartoon channels for kids, business, science channels and I can spend tens of papers to create a list of all the TV channel types that are broadcast all over the world. A huge TV channel variety to choose from. Even the smallest idea can be implemented to develop a TV channel. Whether you receive the TV signal by cable, or by satellite dish or you just watch TV using your internet connections, you must have the possibility to choose from a bundle of TV channels. The disadvantages for using a cable connection or a satellite dish is that the TV signal can be received using additional electronic equipment that you must pay for one way or another. Online TV services have the advantages of not using extra electronic equipment besides your computer. And even so, you will not need a TV card.
There are thousands if not millions of websites that are offering TV packages over internet. All of them are trying to temp you with more and more TV channel lists, lifetime free updates, stunning discounts, or bonus packages. But basically, the process is the same: they let you download a small demo software with a simple interface that will enable you to watch the demo TV channels, and if you want to benefit from the full package you must pay a certain fee. From the start, I can mention that Gogglebox TV comes under DEMO License. A demo license that in my opinion is way too "demo" for a software as simple as this one. Usually, this kind of applications comes with much more features incorporated than just view the channels list and select the ones that you want to see. Besides the fact that the playtime is limited to 15 minutes, the software doesn?t give you the possibility to select the Radio Channels, or the Movies / Trailers options. It includes (I presume this because I wasn?t able to test this feature) a Live Sports channel list, that can come in handy if you are a sports fan.
A big "E", from Extras, button is implemented on the interface but it?s not active in this demo version. If the number of available TV channels is like the website ad says: " 2000+ " a "sort by" feature would come in handy, not to mention the possibility to create a favorites list and save it, so that you will not search over and over again for the channels that you watch frequently every time you start the application.
The professional online TV software comes with the possibility to record your favorite shows, games, movies directly or according to a preset schedule and save them on your hard disk. The demo version of Gogglebox TV software does not require any installation, and the package size is 488K. The price for buying the full 2000+ package with the software to connect to the online TV service is 5.76 USD.
The Good
A good thing that I could find was the fact that Gogglebox TV comes as a stand-alone application and it does not require any installation or hard drive space, if this feature is kept with the full package application too.
The Bad
The Demo version is way too limited to be tested as a "try before buy "software, especially when it comes to features like Radio Channels or sort by Live Sports channels.
