14 DAY TRIAL // It's no news that Yahoo Messenger has now voice capabilities and since the beta version of Yahoo Messenger 7.0 is available for download, we thought to take it for a little test.
The installation process and the new interface are not very different from the previous versions; the surprises show up only after launching the IM client.
The first feature we tested was the possibility to talk with our friends without touching the keyboard. Although this is the beta version, the quality of the voice communication through Yahoo Messenger is very good and can actually compete with Skype's.
To our surprise, although being the beta version, Yahoo Messenger was stable and didn't cause any crashes during the voice communications. Actually, some services, like Launchcast for instance, seemed even better than the ones from the 6th version.
But voice communication is not the only new feature, this version also ensuring a better integration with Yahoo's services (the button for Yahoo 360) and also protection against spim. Another feature is the sharing of songs from Yahoo Music Unlimited with other users.
Moreover, each window has a search field on and users can also send files to other users by drag-and-dropping, a feature offered by MSN Messenger for a long time.
In conclusion, there a lot of interesting things which transform Yahoo Messenger into a very good IM client.
