Disease is something that we should accept and try to help those who have such health problems as much as we can, but I'll leave the flu virus and all the other dangers lurking in the real world and move to the world I try to live in as much as possible, the virtual world inside our computers. Yes, you guessed that right, I am going to review an antivirus software solution. To be more precise, this is going to be a review of a tool that detects and removes over 40,000 threats, such as spyware, adware, hijackers, keyloggers, Trojans, tracking devices, hacker tools, and other malicious items from your computer.

The tool I am talking about is known as SpyRemover, its latest version is 2.63 and you have to pay 29.95$ for it, but I have a shareware version here, of course. You can use this as long as you want, but you won't be able to remove threats until you register it. The setup package has 3.3MB in size and it's very easy to install, so everybody should be able to get the program, setup and run it. All this being done, there comes the time to check the interface and features at our disposal, so let's move on.

SpyRemover's interface is an average one, if we consider its design, but it's also extremely easy to use. The elements that can be found inside the main window are the menu bar with only three menus, the tools panel and the work area used to display the output of the ongoing operations.

Once you start the program, all you have to do is press the Search Now button or use the action with the same name that can be found inside the Actions menu. When the operation is complete, you will be able to get details about the items found, but removal is only available after purchasing the program. Considering this, the next button spotted in the tool panel, Restore, is useless for trial users.

The Online Update feature works well, being as easy to use as all tools available here, but it doesn't end here. Look up!

The Tools menu has some unexpected surprises, two in number. Their names are Intrusive devices and System startup. The first one is a large tabbed area that allows you to select items that should be skipped when scanning your system, with threats nicely grouped on categories, such as cookies, dialers, hijackers, spybots, Trojans and all the other evil pieces of code that can enter your computer. At last, the System startup tool lets you view and enable/disable or delete items run by your computer at startup, no matter their location - registry or system intialization files.

The program's settings are nicely grouped inside a tree view that gets displayed into the main work area, allowing you to create restore points, play sound alerts, choose scan priority, report creation settings or enable real time protection against threats.

These being said, we covered all that should be said about this program, so let's move on to the conclusions!

The Good

SpyRemover is small, fast and very easy to use for any computer user, beginner or expert.

The Bad

I am sorry to say this, but the trial version I have here is almost useless, and even worse, there's no built in documentation, and the information you can get about this program and its features from the official site is not that good either.

The Truth

SpyRemover could be a lot better, but there are interesting features to be seen here, so all I can do now is advise you to check it out and decide if you need it and whether it is worth your money or not.
