Say NO to Spyware!

It seems that antispyware tools just won't leave me alone, and so I got to another one, produced by TrustSoft and called AntiSpyware, nothing less, nothing more. I can't call this is an original name, but I don't have to review the meaning of this program's name instead of what's behind that name: an interface and some features, as usual.

The last version of this program is wearing a "5.0" version tag, it comes as a 15 days trial version inside a 5MB setup package and the price you have to pay for the full version is 29.95$. Now, as usual, I have two items to take care of before jumping to the conclusions - interface and features.

TrustSoft's AntiSpyware interface shows the maturity this program has reached. Its interface is well organized, having only five major tasks to use. The icons are excellent, you can't get lost, everything's very easy to use and a real pleasure for your eyes. Now, what's behind them?

The five things to be done with this program are scanning, scheduling, updating, real time protection and setting up the available options. Updating and scheduling are done in a flash, with the mention that you can schedule two different scanning modes - Quick and Deep Scan.

Moving up, we have the Scan and Defender areas that handle on demand scanning and real time protection. If your browser is hijacked, inside the Defender area you can select the Internet Explorer settings to restore after you've been hit.

Now, last item that I can tell you of is the Configuration area. The Basic Configuration section allows you to choose the areas to be scanned (memory, cookies and registry), the default scanning mode and few other minor options. An interesting option here allows you to restore removed spyware (after all, maybe you install a spyware on your computer for personal use, whatever that may be...), and the last one standing lets you choose what should happen when closing Internet Explorer (obviously, the browser will have to be closed when removing its parasites).

I would like to tell you more about this program, but there's not anything else to say, but this reminder: every time you install a new antispyware product, and now you don't have to make an exception, your first step should be to update the program's definitions, and then perform a deep scan of your system. Good luck with those, and off to the conclusions!

The Good

TrustSoft AntiSpyware is a pleasure to use, it doesn't chew up your system's resources and its features are enough for the given purpose.

The Bad

I know something's missing here, but I can't say what... After all, this is just ann antispyware, not a full featured antivirus package! What about hijackers for other browsers than Internet Explorer? Despite the program's simplicty, I would love to see some built in documentation and a spyware information area, maybe even an offline spyware encyclopedia! At last, the price sounds a bit too high for me...

The Truth

When I found out about this program my first thought was "Another one?", but I got to find out that my target here is a good one. The two weeks of trial await you, so don't fall back. Dare to face your spyware threats now!
