    Softpedia Editor's Review for WeatherMate

    EDITOR'S RATING:

Display the weather on your desktop

Written by Bogdan Popa on March 28th, 2012

WeatherMate is an advanced application designed to provide the latest weather forecasts for any desired location right on your desktop.

And the program fully delivers the information, regardless of the location you pick, but it also offers users some extra tools to enhance the whole experience.

Once installed, WeatherMate places an icon in the System Tray that can be configured to show weather conditions, while a separate window on the desktop brings a lot more than that.

Beside the current temperature and “feels like” information, WeatherMate also reveals the wind speed and the forecast for the next several days, with details including temperatures and chances of precipitations.

Adding a new location to the list is pretty easy, as WeatherMate provides an intuitive menu to help you do that with ease. Truth is, there's no search box to quickly search for a certain location, but instead you can browse the database by country or US states.

The settings screen provides access to a great amount of customization options concerning the way it looks, position on the screen, icon behavior and the text to speech engine that allows you to listen the weather forecast.

While it works flawlessly on all Windows versions out there, WeatherMate requires a moderate amount of hardware resources, which means you may experience minor slowdowns every once in a while, especially on older systems.

Overall, WeatherMate is one of the best tools of its kind, providing a great amount of information and a handy desktop window to keep you up to date with the latest weather forecasts.
