Graphics Interchange Format, better known as GIF, is a bitmap image that can contain animated frames and supports up to 256 colors per each frame.
It is not suitable for large color photographs due to its built-in limitations, therefore it basically illustrates simpler pictures that feature solid areas of color.
GIF editors will allow users to animate static files, or to modify the GIF frames to include custom contents.
Additionally, these applications will also allow users to remove some of the file's frames or to export the GIF to other graphic formats.
