Moving users from Windows XP to another operating system is clearly a fairly important challenge for Microsoft, but it turns out that not all users across the world are willing to do that.

Figures provided by web analytics company StatCounter show that Windows XP is currently powering 7.8 percent of computers Down Under, as compared to 12.4 percent in the United States and 9.5 percent in the United Kingdom.

“Australian computer users are to be complimented for moving faster than the rest of the world in waving goodbye to XP,” said Aodhan Cullen, StatCounter CEO, according to ZDNet.

Windows XP still has a 29 percent share worldwide, but it’s pretty clear that the main markets are quickly moving to other operating systems, including Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

As far as Australians are concerned, 51.9 percent of them are still running Windows 7, while 8.7 percent of them are currently using Windows 8.
