We mentioned yesterday, when we announced the RC, that the wait for the stable version for avast! 7 would be quite short. The developer already tied all loose ends and came up with build 7.0.1407, which introduces cloud-based reputation scanning and streaming updates, remote assistance feature and export/import option for configuration settings.

Additionally, Avast! users can monitor installations of the application through https://my.avast.com/. The console is read-only for now.

The cloud-based File Rep (reputation scanning) is linked with the Auto-Sandbox feature, also available in the Free edition of the suite (reviewed here), so suspicious files are opened in the sandbox by default and analyzed for malicious behavior.

Starting version 7, updates are pushed to the user (about 20/day for starters), so that the freshest malware information is available.

Windows 8 has not been overlooked, as the new avast! includes a specific feature, the Early-Load AntiMalware Driver (ELAM), designed to work against system-level rootkits and bootkits.
