Microsoft’s co-founder Bill Gates has once again become the world’s richest man, retaking the title he previously held from Mexican investor Carlos Slim.

The main reason for the change is the surprising increase of Microsoft’s shares that boosted Bill Gates’ net worth to no less than $72.7 billion (€56.5 billion), which is up 16 percent year-to-date according to Bloomberg.

In case you’re wondering, Warren Buffett is currently the world’s third-richest man with a net worth of $59.7 billion (€46.4 billion) in Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, while Europe’s wealthiest person, Amancio Ortega, is fourth in the rankings with $56 billion (€43.5 billion).

Google’s co-founders, on the other hand, are still way behind Microsoft’s Bill Gates. Larry Page and Sergey Brin have both recorded boosts of 22 percent of their net worth, reaching the 18th and 19th spots in Bloomberg’s top.
