Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently traveled to Seoul to meet South Korean President Park Geun-hye and discuss on a joint effort supposed to bring the world a new nuclear reactor in the country.

Bill Gates, chairman of nuclear start-up TerraPower, greeted the South Korean president with the same geekish smile that made him famous, but also with one hand gently slipped in his pocket just when the two officials were shaking hands.

While those who know Bill would say that this is how Microsoft’s founder greets the people he wants to be friends with, South Korean media criticized Gates for his casual approach, describing his gesture as an act of disrespect.

According to a report by The Telegraph, Bill Gates has come under fire on social networks too, especially because most officials visiting the country and meeting the president adopt a much more respectful shake, usually without a hand in the pocket.

While Bill Gates hasn’t said a thing about his way of shaking hands, the South Korean president doesn’t seem to be too offended by his pocketed hand.

In Bill’s defense, let’s just say that it was really cold in that meeting room.
