BitTorrrent announced today the release of version 1.2 of their peer to peer synchronization application, Sync.

The developer informs that the application, although still in beta stage of development, has more than one million active users per month and that it features performance improvements.

The new release promises speeds of up to two times faster than before, as it has recorded a LAN transfer rate of 90MB/s. Obviously, the value is directly proportional with the Internet bandwidth, and not all users may benefit from improvements of this caliber.

Along with this enhancement, the developer also informs that Sync is now also compatible with iOS 7 and has a native iPad app.

BitTorrent Sync does not rely on external servers to deliver data, so there is no limitation to the size of the file transferred. Furthermore, the data is transmitted through a secure connection.
