Blender is heading towards a new stable build, as the developer released today the first release candidate for version 2.63. The current revision focuses on tying loose ends, so all efforts were poured into repairs and stabilization of the application.

However, you’ll notice a new Blender mesh system (BMesh), which features full support for N-sided polygons instead of only triangles and quads. There is improved motion tracking as work has been done for 2D stabilization and some other smaller tools.

Additional new features available include face hiding for sculpting, a compositing node to output multiple files at once or multilayer EXR files. New tools for linking and detaching nodes and more particle rotation options are also present in this release.

The number of fixes the development team dealt with in this release amounts to 110. You can view check them all out on this page.
