Despite being a minor build, the freshly released CCleaner 3.23 packs a lot of oomph. The developer adds performance optimizations and improved support for Google Chrome and Firefox web browsers.

Overall performance in the new CCleaner should be noticeable since it brings to the table more efficient memory usage and better shutdown time. It includes support for Firefox 16, which is scheduled for release on October 9, the ability to clean Google Chrome DNS prefetch, journal and temporary files.

Also new is support for CoolNovo web browser, which is a version of Google Chrome with built-in additional functionality.

Additional improvements touch on the discovery of Publisher and increased support for Run Once actions in the startup manager as well as better file deletion security.

CCleaner is available for download as a portable program (no installation is required) on this page.
